I originally had to go through 3 levels of appeals and 4 months to get Humira approved. They wanted me to start on Methotrexate, but my liver has decreased function from years of IB Profen use for back pain that my doc wanted to use biologicals because they don’t hurt your liver. My rheumatologist finally told panel that if methotrexate compromised my liver they would be on the hook for a potential transplant and possibly a wrongful death lawsuit. I got an approval letter two days later. I’m sure I’m going to have to go through that same process again to get Cimzia approved. It’s frustrating because the two drugs have the same cost to my insurance. I honestly think they do this because they realize a certain percentage of patients will give up during the appeals process and stop treatment. I’m sure they have calculated a certain “drop out %” depending on how many levels of appeals they make a patient go through.

I’ve been on Humira for months and haven’t had much luck. Really disappointing because I hear so many stories like yours about how well Humira works. My rheumatologist wants me to try Cimzia now, but my insurance is refusing to pay for it.

I’m glad that your recovery is going better than you expected. I’m currently seeking a second opinion in regards to whether my wrist requires surgery. I’ve had such bad luck with past back surgeries that I’m extremely hesitant to ever go under the knife again. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

I would second this advise. Proceed cautiously when considering surgery and always get a 2nd opinion when a surgeon tells you that surgery is necessary. Surgery should always be a last resort. There are so many things that can go wrong or the original issue may not be fixed or even get worse. I’ve had 5 surgeries, 3 on my back. The last was a spinal fusion and the renowned neurosurgeon told me I would be good as new, but it has left me with double the amount of pain. It’s been 9 years since my fusion and I regret it every day. I wish I would’ve sought out a 2nd opinion and not rushed into it. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the NFA side charge upper non-reciprocating? So shooting right side barricades shouldn't be a problem. I also have been looking at the NFA side charging upper. I already have the other NFA parts. Just trying to decide between their rear or side charging model.

I had the exact same problem with freedom in my Tanfo's back when they first came out with the 135gr. It's the length. My Tanfo's won't shoot any freedom Ammo 135gr and above. Solution for me was to just quit using freedom. For factory ammo, I use American Eagle 147gr flat point. If you search the internet you can find great deals for prices similar to freedom. AE is much better Ammo.

I'm running a Viper on my OSP. I wanted cowitness sights. First, I tried Dawson's .395 rear. It wasn't tall enough to see above the back of the red dot. Exchanged that set for their next option which is a .500 rear. It works with .475 FO front. Bytheway, getting the factory front sight off was a bear. I've replaced several factory sights on different brands and holy cow that was press fit super tight.

I installed the Dawson co-witness sights on my OSP. They work well with the Vortex Viper I'm using. The Viper is lower profile that the Venom, but I think they will still work. So far, I'm really enjoying this pistol.

How are you liking the CZ TS fixed rear on your tanfo? I picked one up last week since they are cheap and it arrived in the mail yesterday. The rear notch is super wide - widest of any rear sight I've seen. What width and height front sight are you using with it?

Henning contoured smooth alum grips with grip tape.

I also have the Henning smooth grips. I use Jessup skateboard tape - I find it to be high quality. Mob grip tape is good too - just too abrasive for my taste. I clean the grip surface with rubbing alcohol wipes and allow them to dry. I then use my heat gun (or a blow dryer) to heat the tape up slightly to make it more malleable. I apply the tape to the grips. After getting the tape all set, I apply more heat while periodically stopping to firmly press the tape down with my thumbs. Apply more heat and re-press again. When I do that, the glue from the tape really takes hold. Never had a problem with it moving. Dawson Precision sells BSI grip tape glue that I've heard works well. The Henning alum grips fit the new frames great. I like the smooth grips because you can put grip tape on them.

Last I spoke with Henning he was installing a new and upgraded steel vise. He was then going to start on a new rear and front sight.

I want to poll the Tanfoglio pistol shooters on the perfect rear sight notch width. I've been talking to Henning about manufacturing LPA style fixed rear sights again and he is thinking of producing two options - a wide notch & a thin notch. Give me your feedback on options #1 or #2 depending on which you would prefer. Sight Setup Option #1 (thick front sight): For this setup, assume your front sight width is 0.115" wide. For a 0.115" front, what rear sight notch width would provide the best sight picture and why (i.e. the optimal amount of light on each side of the front sight blade and the best balance between speed & accuracy)? Sight Setup Option #2 (thin front sight): For this setup, assume your front sight width is 0.090" wide. For a 0.090" front, what rear sight notch width would provide the best sight picture and why (i.e. the optimal amount of light on each side of the front sight blade and the best balance between speed & accuracy)? Bonus Question: If you don't like option 1 or 2, what front sight width and rear sight notch width would you prefer. Thanks everybody for your time and input!

Henning is working on an improved rear sight design. He is designing it now. When it's all said and done I think he is going to put out a really nice Tanfo rear sight.

What firing pin spring do you use in combination with a 14# hammer spring? Light or medium Xtreme firing pin spring?

I got the answer to my question. The dovetail base on xtreme sights measures 1.7mm and is included in the advertised height.

Is your xtreme sight .216" above the slide? Does Eric measure his sights the same way Dawson does (i.e. from the top of the slide to the top of the sight as opposed to measuring from the sight's base to the top)?

The first time I took apart a Tanfo I lost the plunger when it shot across the room. Never could find it. I was ordering a few other parts from Henning so I just bought one of the stainless steel plungers he makes.

When installing a new rear sight on a Tanfo is there a certain side of the gun to tap it in from? Left or right side when looking down the gun?

Henning has the measurements on his website. His grips fall inbetween the wood grips and xtreme grips. They have some contour which I prefer. I'm not a fan of the xtreme grips. They are too thin and my support cannot obtain a good purchase on them. The Henning grips provide just the right amount of contour so the palm of my support hand is solid.
