Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. I am beginning to reload for 38 Special and want some input as to what is a good powder to use - one that burns cleanly, meters well etc. I will be loading 125 grain plated bullets as well as wadcutters. Powders I have on hand are HP-38, Titegroup, WST, WSF, AA2, Universal and HS-6. I am looking for basically a range type load for general plinking that will be accurate and just fun to shoot.
  2. I recently ran into the same issue of finding Titegroup and tried out AA2. I tried 3.8 grains under 124 grain RMR plated round nose. The rounds were very accurate and the felt recoil impulse was very good. I may be sticking with AA2 if and when things return back to normal.
  3. Thanks everyone! this is very useful information!
  4. I recently picked up a pound of AA2 since I was unable to find any Titegroup. AA2 has a similar same burn rate to Titegroup, so I thought I would give it a try. I am looking to load in 9MM using 124 grain copper plated bullets. Looking to keep it at a minor PF (125'ish) shooting from a Glock 34. Has anyone used this powder for 9MM minor loads and thoughts - good, bad? What powder charge is recommended?
  5. Hi IDescribe, I consider myself to be an experienced reloader. I have been intrigued by the 135 grain plated bullets for some time - it's just hard to find any reloading data on them. I shoot a lot of 124 and 147 grain plated bullets using TG. Yes, I do have access to a chronograph and plan to chronograph some loads once the bullets come in and get loaded up. I plan to shoot these in my local IDPA matches using a Glock 34. The bullets are on the way. I ordered 500 to try them out to see how I like them. Thank you everyone on the forum! This information is quite useful.
  6. I am looking to load some 135 grain Xtreme hollow points. The powders I plan on using are either Titegroup or WSF. I am planning on using the loads in IDPA, so I am looking at a power factor of 125 or a little more, 130 or so. Any suggestions as to what charge weight I can use?
  7. Hi, I am wanting to work up some 40 Major loads using 165 grain copper plated bullets. I see a lot of threads where shooters are using 180 or 200 grain bullets but I have a ton of 165 grain Xtreme copper plated bullets on hand. The powders I have on hand are WSF, WST, Titegroup and W231. I will be shooting them through a Glock 35. Any thoughts or suggestions on what a good combination would be?
  8. I load Xtreme 124 grain Flat Points with 4.0 grains of Titegroup. The load is very accurate, shows no signs of high pressure and is a soft shooting load. I get a consistent PF of 130-131. These are loads I am using in IDPA and they work quiet well.
  9. USMC90 - what powder charge are you using with WSF behind the 147 grain bullet?
  10. I am looking to improve my case gauging as well as remove any bulges in my 9MM brass during the resizing step. I load plated bullets.
  11. I have had very good luck with both Titegroup and WSF. Both make for a good, accurate load.
  12. Has or does anyone use an undersized resizing die? I am thinking of trying one but I would like to know the pros and cons of the undersized sizing die beforehand. Does it do a better job of re-sizing the brass than a typical resizing die? Does it cause any issues when seating the bullet, such as lead shaving? Any help or comments would be much appreciated.
  13. I use Titegroup for both 124 grain and 147 grain bullets and it works great for both. 124 grain Xtreme I use 4.1 grains of Titegroup 147 grain Xtreme or RMR I use 3.2 grains of Titegroup both loads are accurate and recoil softly. They make PF for IDPA.

    .40 minor

I have been using 4.8 grains of WST behind a 165 grain Xtreme plated bullet. OAL is 1.135. I get 900 - 910 fps for a PF149. The load is soft shooting and very accurate.
