Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. The 2011 frame may move mass and weight forward when compared to a Trojan SS. It appears the photo gun has a bull barrel which, I believe, does not qualify as a single stack. The barrel and bushing is a requirement unless the USPSA rules have changed. Weight limits with an empty magazine and fitting within the size requirements, gun and magazine length would need verification. STI has made a major product line change over the past year, some good, some not so good. Holes in their product line left may past customers out in the cold going forward as customers, no single stacks in any frame size. I am an STI customer who has been left out in the cold. 2. You can also use N Primer with the 271 red loctite; a very firm seal. Once set, the material will, with heat, free with heat. At times, up to 450 degrees. Apply the primer to both mating surfaces prior to assembly, product directions are easily followed. Sent from my ASUS Transformer Pad TF300T using Tapatalk
  3. I run 10mm mags through my STI without issue. I found accuracy and feed issues went away when I loaded long. Starting at 1.17 COL, working up to 1.26. The X-Treme HP at 180 grains provided enough bullet shoulder to load at this length. It seems STI,s in .40 like long COLs.
  4. CSB-1 .40 cal Major: I have been shooting this powder for while; the performace load, best accuracy/performance and feel, for major PF: 180 gr X-Treme HP plated bullet 5.2 gr CSB-1 173 PF COL 1.26 run through a STI Trojan 5" SS 1911 mixed cases, all passed through a Reding GRX sizing die, light taper crimp Your results may be different but, I my pretty happy with this load.

  11. I have started testing CSB-1 in .40 and 38 Special. These were the results of my most recent testing: 61 degrees, BP 30.15 .40 CAL from a full size Springfield XD 4"; 180 gr S&S Coated LRNFP bullet, COL 1.125; Chronograph-Ballistic Precision 4.6gr CSB-1 AVG 930.8 FPS PF 167.5 4.8gr CSB-1 AVG 935 FPS PF 168.3 5.0gr CSB-1 AVG 973.8 FPS PF 175.28 5.2gr CSB-1 AVG 179.78 FPS PF179.78 38 Special from a S&W 627 w/5"; 160 gr Billy Bullet LRN,COL 1.475; Chronograph-Ballistic Precision 3.7gr CSB-1 AVG 694.7 FPS PF 111.16 4.0gr CSB-1 AVG 731.66 FPS PF 117.6 Both calibers were processed on the same morning. .40 results; accuracy, the 4.6gr of CSB-1 in the .40 caliber was the best. Prior to testing in the Springfield XD, 20 rounds of UMC w/180gr RNFP was run through the gun.
  12. Trifocals, my attempt to achieve a sharp front sight; right handed and left eye dominant. Optometrist was delight I came to him with actual measurements for a pair of shooting glasses. Left lens prescription was written as a normal trifocal. The right lens had the normal reading power at the bottom and the rest of the lens was filled with the middle power of my trifocal. Still adjusting to the shooting glasses but, I am pleased with the glasses. Focus range from hand gun to long gun works well for the front sight. Targets are not as sharp but, as a senior shooter I can continue to enjoy the sport and challenges.
