Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. DQ 'ing sounds a little harsh. I have thousands of small match rifle primers left over from my bench rest days I used to trash cases with small primer pockets too, until I discovered small rifle primers work just fine in my 45 autos. Now I just can't seem to find enough of sp brass.
  2. Manatee gun club is not far from the Bradenton area. Great range!

  6. Welcome from South Florida. I just joined too and it is a great site.
  7. Welcome I haven't done much action shooting, but I've been handloading for over 50 years. Go slow with your first loading equipment. If you have a friend who hand loads , ask to see how he does it. Maybe get a single stage press and load a few rounds before you decide on your progressive ( you will always find a use for it) A progressive press can get pretty frustrating for a beginner. Handloading should be fun Just a thought.
  8. Sorry for the double post. Tried to edit and wound up duplicating
  9. Sounds like an opportunity here, somewhere. If you ever visit Central Florida, you can load up a few thousand rounds for me. I hate reloading. Actually, I shot in benchrest matches at the Manatee gun club every month for years in central Florida. Great range. What kind of loading equipment do you use? What calibers do you shoot? The equipment has a lot to do with reloading enjoyment. Of course it helps to be retired and have the time to do anything you want.
  10. Hey hi power, I did shoot bench rest matches once a month at the manatee gun club in central Florida. Great Range. What loading equipment do you use and what calibers do you shoot? Sometimes it's the equipment that makes a handloading session enjoyable. Of course, it helps if you're retired and have the time to do anything you want.
  11. Thanks for the welcome hi power and LB fufu. I did shoot some action pistol at Markham 20 years ago, also Bench Rest rifle when the South Florida Bench Rest shooters Club was active. In fact our club built the concrete benches at Markham. (At our own expense). But when the county removed the back benches reloading at the range became impossible and we stopped shooting there.
  12. An SDB in 45auto I just don't "feel" what's happening on a progressive press. Besides, it just loads too fast. I enjoy a longer loading experience.
  13. I was a bullseye shooter 25 years ago, but switched over to competitive Bench Rest shooting. Had to suspend that due to cataracts, but after a successful operation , I have become a born again pistol shooter. Mostly 45's at indoor ranges, even though the weather here allows outdoor shooting year round. I enjoy handloading so much that I rarely use my Dillon in favor of a slower four die turret press. I only shoot a couple of hundred rounds a week at a nearby range with my son who is a better shooter than me, but I'm still learning again and who knows? Looking forward to meeting you all on the forum.
