  1. Careful if you are running them through a regular sizing die. I was told they can separate and leave the top part of the case stuck in the die.
  2. Dillon should be able to help you. I did make one from a plastic container that a Caspian slide came in. It is about 1.5" square and 4" long. I cut it to length and cut a tapered hole in the side to fit on the press. if you PM a phone number I will text a pic.
  3. Different lots of powder may have different results as will different pistols so use this info with caution. As in start low, chrono and work up. In my IMM 7.9 of Silhouette with a 124 Montana Gold JHP will be about a 173 power factor. I recently went to a match and had unknowingly used 115 JHP and got a 168 pf.
  4. If you're doing this with a VR80 you might want to be careful using the 1600 FPS ammo if you are set up for lighter birdshot.
  5. I bought a couple cases quite a few years ago and now have 1 or2 boxes left, Rem reduced recoil will be my next choice. The Fioochi slugs did not feed very well in a friends VR80. The end of the shell would catch on the barrrel and jam.
  6. Unfortunately I have not been able to find them for several years either. Dillon used to have them, maybe try them.
  7. BP slugs have been fairly accurate for me as well as Rem reduced recoil slugs.
  8. Usually there is enough room between the hood of the barrel and the breechface to insert a small screwdriver and just pry it open. Much easier on the hands.
  9. Major power used to be 175. For those that might not know that was determined by using 45 hardball ammo out of a commander length pistol. So it was already lowered once.
  10. Why won't that one work for pistol also?
  11. One more question. Did you cut the chamber in the barrel? Is it possible it had excessive headspace? Just a thought.
  12. There will more than likely be a lot of crud and brass shavings under the extractor. That would be the first place I would look.
  13. Did you remove and clean under the extractor? If so did you install the extractor spring with the rubber piece?
  14. You might want to compare the barrel port diameters.

Barrel ports will make the pistol loader but will also make it snappier and quicker back on target. Some people like it, some don't. My suggestion is to try pistols with and without ports to see how you like it.
  16. Pretty sure it happens when loading the mag. I pay attention to each round as I load it to make sure they don't get behind the lower round after I had the same thing happen.
  17. Bad idea. The die sizes the case smaller than bullet diameter so you would ruin those rounds. You can pull the bullets then resize the cases without the decapping pin in the die.
  18. If you already have small base sizing die you may have to lower it some. I had to adjust mine to where it touched the shell plate then went slightly lower until the press cams over just a little.
  19. What has caused these same problems for me is a worn out powder funnel. There is a shoulder just below the flare part of the funnel. When this wears out the bullet will not set down in the case correctly. The bullet will wobble and sometimes fall off the case. I also had many more rounds fail to case gauge because they would not be straight when seated.
  20. Yep that used to be an issue years ago until they figured out to make firing pins the proper diameter for the firing pin hole. It could have been that the firing pin was stuck in the slide but if that was the case it would do it when you unload and show clear. Basically anytime you dry fire it. More that likely it stuck in the flash hole of your dummy round.
  21. This is what I do also. Works good. Just know that that if you get a very sharp focus on either the sights or target the other one will be lacking. I found a happy medium that I like.
  22. They are lighter and also the wind will not effect them as much.
  23. That E6000 is a pretty amazing adhesive! Glad it worked.
  24. If you pull the bullets you can take the decapping pin out of the sizing die then resize the cases.
  25. I don't think you want to use epoxy as it dries in a hard almost brittle state. I have used E6000 adhesive for a lot of projects and am amazed at its strength and it stays flexible. I don't know about the different surfaces you have but I have not found anything it will not stick to.
