  1. Pretty much every single one of those cases have crimped primer pockets. Enjoy.
  2. Yep, and you will probably limit yourself to maybe half the matches out there. And really, we are getting beside the point. VERY few shooters in the PRS realm shoot a gas gun anyways, being that it isn't as accurate and more difficult to shoot in the first place.
  3. You will not want a gas gun for PRS competitions. The problem will be when you are asked to hold the bolt open during transitions. This will be very difficult with a gas gun, REALLY easy for a bolt gun. It is best to get a left handed bolt gun for PRS. There are plenty out there, just not a huge selection. The RPR is a great rifle, but there are a lot of other options out there. I would not get focused on a "good deal", but instead work on a rifle that works for you. In the PRS game, accuracy is critical. That accuracy builds your confidence in the rifle and then you really start performing well. If there is doubt or something is not comfortable, your scores will suffer. Get the rifle right, everything else falls into place over time. When choosing a caliber, be sure to understand that you will be shooting this round 80-100 times per match. Ensure it is a caliber that is right for the PRS scene, like 6mm Creedmor or 6.5mm Creedmor. There are ton of others, of course.
  4. Yes, you will need a spacer for the switch from 38 Super Comp to 9mm. I would also recommend the Dawson Magazine Tuning kits. the contain all the tools necessary as well as a DVD which is extremely helpful. Just an FYI, I switched from MBX to the STI GenII magazines and have had zero issues after I conduct the entire magazine tuning from Mr. Dawson.
  5. Uhhh, Memphis nails it here. Thank you for the good advice sir.
  6. My wife and I just purchased these; https://www.goaxil.com/shop/performance-hearing-aids/custom-edge-60-electronic-ear-protection/ Very excited to use them. They are another 2 weeks out or so, so we can report back when we have had a chance to use them. There are a lot of companies out there, which we shopped through extensively online and while at various shows and these guys seemed to understand what they were talking about.
  7. You know what is weird, I have shot entire stages and do not remember clearly seeing the dot on my open gun. I have won stages like that. I may be subconsciously finding the dot, but I never pause to think about it and confirm I have the dot in sight. That dot seems to be more for confirmation on longer shots than anything else. I have practiced so much that I don't really need to see anything at closer range targets because I feel comfortable on my index position. I just know that the bullet is going to hit the target. I think some of the shooters out there are not waiting long enough to allow the firearm to resettle. I hear a few people mention an alpha than a mike. You are shooting to fast or need to improve your grip. Now for some shooting porn. Here is my friend Kincaid a while back shooting a drill: This was a game we had, called the Precision Hillbilly Challenge. 22 rounds at 7 yards, lowest time wins. To be fair, one would never do this, but I think it is important what Kincaid said about this drill. He mentioned how his splits at .11 second were a little fast and he noticed that he was drifting out of the A zone, so he slowed to .12 second splits. He was an amazing shooter for sure, but it proves that it is the speed that can ruin accuracy, not whether you see the dot.
  8. I listened to this podcast and greatly enjoyed it. Thank you for sharing your experience with everyone Brian. I learned quite a bit from your forum and certainly from your experience.
  9. Every Master and Grand Master shooter I know reloads. They were not rich to begin with so they looked to save money while getting to those Categories. Those shooters are laying out 1,500 - 2,000 rounds per week to get to that level. I personally save about $0.29 per round ($0.41/round for factory less $0.12/round my reloads) reloading. Last year I shot 12,000 rounds, so the math works out to about $3,480 in savings... for last year alone. When you reload, you save so much money. Take our illustrious forum founder's (Mr. Enos) words and hear about his history. He seemed to have reached his potential by reloading (https://www.full30.com/watch/MDIxNTc3/brian-enos-on-the-firearm-friday-podcast). He even worked together with Mike Dillon to share his experience and assist them in building those amazing reloading machines. It all boils done to a numbers game. Shoot more, try to save money, then shoot some more. It's all about practice.
  10. I would also recommend Dawson's STI magazine tuning kit. (https://dawsonprecision.com/dawson-precision-sti-2011-hicap-magazine-tuning-kit/) Since getting this kit, I have been able to keep my magazines running in tip top shape. What people don't seem to understand, and those who certainly bought into the MBX Kool-aid, is that these magazine get out of shape and out of tune over time. Especially during heavy usage periods. Dropping these things on the ground half full or them constantly loading our handguns really takes its toll. Eventually, they need to be checked and tuned. This Dawson kit will save you a lot of money and frustration.
  11. MBX people will tell you never to use Grams Internals with their magazine tubes. They will recommend that you use MBX internals. By the way, the Gen 1 STI magazines are the best around, why use them for practice? Get them tuned and keep using them. That would be my suggestion. Since switching from MBX to STI (2nd generation) I have had ZERO issues.
  12. Oh? Really? I have never cleaned my RF100 and I run Winchester Small Pistol Primers. You saw my video, right? Did you see any issues? And comparing the maintenance of a reloading press to a primer tube filler is not reasonable. They are completely different machines. I guess the saying goes, "your mileage may vary."
  13. Listen up kids, this is what happens when you load TiteGroup instead of Varget into your rifle cartridge: http://bulletin.accurateshooter.com/2015/01/what-happens-when-you-load-pistol-powder-in-a-rifle-cartridge/ Stay safe out there friends.
  14. Oh man, talk about being stalked. Dang... But I think you should get the best equipment and then any improvements are on you. Seeing as you and I trade places in the standings half the time, I employ further pressure and let's continue our mutual improvement. I just wish you would thin that herd.. but I won't say anything to the significant other.. fir sure. Good to see you on here brother.
  15. Ha ha ha haaa... yes sir, you got it. From my limited experience, it takes a lot of hard work off the field to get better. But there are always people out there that think they can equip themselves to the top. Powder, bullets, special hand cremes, etc..etc.. It never stops for some people. One friend of mine has 5 PCC rifles. Meanwhile, I am not changing anything while I work on my own improvement. I wonder it is a PCC thing?
  16. So... Max... how does it feel to be so special that they drool over your rifle?
  17. I think changing springs that often is a bit overkill, kinda like the change oil every 3k miles BS. I would say just make sure both springs are in there. The other thing I think people may be overlooking is actually removing the extractor to clean it every 1-2k rounds. This is very important since powder can disturb the functioning of the extractor. Please don't ask me how I found this out.
  18. So, far all of the people complaining about their Dillon RF100, here is a sample video of what mine does. I only had to adjust the tilt of the unit and then a minor adjustment to the inlet cover (not the main cover) a couple of years ago: Just in case memories are short. The Dillon works perfectly and even better, Dillon will tune them personally for your type of primer, if you are having any issues. This falls under the "no B.S." guarantee.
  19. If you read carefully, you will get your answer. I am NROI certified having been to Level II and Level III matches. Please refer to my FIRST post regarding this issue. It is just that simple. I do not think that I can explain it any other way. Please don't be an "askhole" (https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/dont-askhole-fred-blumenberg) here. Now maybe you really don't get it, or maybe you don't want to, but really, please, just read the rules posted here and move on.
  20. This just keeps going, with people unable to comprehend or read the rules. Amazing. Thank you bret. Keep up the good fight bro in helping these folks. I really recommend people take the NROI Range Office class so they can better understand the rules. I mean... really.
  21. And for those of you just joining us, we have the DAA Primer Collater requiring immediate tuning upon delivery, minor manufacturing adjustments, cleaning every 1,000 primers or so, and the manufacturer saying that the majority of the units have no issues. You know, MBX magazines went through this in the Southern portion of the United States. That is why Southerners use SV magazines and stay away from the MBX's. I am thinking it is really important for a manufacturer of anything to ensure testing and usage amongst a test crowd instead of rushing to market. While I grant that maybe I am making a minor assumption here, the perception amongst this thread indicates there are a lot of fixes already. It is hard to believe that these could not have been resolved prior to release.
  22. You know, probably better that you get your certification with NROI and then you can ask one of those instructors. Even read the rules carefully. That helps also.
  23. No problem at all. Happens all the time. Great way to get others introduced to being an RO and hopefully, you will continue with your learning and get your National Range Officers Institute (NROI) certification in the near future.
  24. Well, either way, you did well. Thank you. Isn't it strange that the most ignorant scream the most? Let this be a lesson kids. Get your NROI certification so you too can stop screaming.
