  1. I have experimented with upgraded triggers in the past, but settled on just using OEM minus connector and 6# trigger spring. This seemed to improve trigger noticeably without losing that positive reset feel. Just curious how the reset is with the Timney?
  2. I have had one for a few years. They are accurate little 45’s. The recoil isn’t bad with standard loads, but gets a little snappy with Federal HST 230+p. It still easy to control. I used to carry in a Ritchie Leather OWB. I picked up a Crimson Trace laser guard pro/light with IWB kydex for $80 on sale which has added a little size. I don’t carry it much anymore, but will probably start again this winter.
  3. I picked up a couple of the Vickers Duty mags. They seem like well made mags with base pads installed, but I’m having trouble seating in Les Baer PII. They work fine in my other 1911 45’s, but the Baer, I need to force them in. Has anyone else had an issue with these mags?
  4. I appreciate the responses. I’m going to get the whole trigger kit. I really don’t care for the curved plastic trigger.
  5. I forgot about the ported barrel putting me in open. It’s been a couple years since I have shot a match. If I pick up an after market non ported would that be legal for carry optics?
  6. There is a guy in Buffalo area Braun Concealment that has made a couple holsters for my P365. He makes an IWB with a choice of clip options and an OWB that fits tight. He is a custom kydex holster maker and can make whatever you want for reasonable prices.
  7. I have the performance center M&P 9 (gen 1) with RMR. I recently inherited it and never spent much time with M&P besides firing a few magazines of friends guns. I usually stick with my Glock 17 and now the Sig P320. How does the M&P compare with a trigger upgrade? I really don’t like the plastic hinged trigger. Is the apex flat trigger better? Since it only has the 4.25” barrel Im not sure what to do with it. Since it has the RMR I was thinking of trying in USPSA carry optics.
  8. This is my current set up with stippled grip module.
  9. The legion grip module isn’t authorized. We can have the X Carry grip with either the compact/xcarry slide or full sized slide. We can also have the sub compact P320. I purchased my own, but still limited to what we can use for duty. Also we can only carry 9mm. Our previous issues firearm was the Sig p229R DAK 40. We are also allowed to carry Glock 9mm in gen 3 or 4. I trade turned in my P229 a few years ago and carried my own Glock 17/Glock 26. Now I have the P320 with the P365 combination. I may eventually buy an X5 or the X5 Legion, but still getting used to the P320s. I spent a lot of time and ammo getting as proficient as I could with Glock, but I do feel like the Sig P320s are a little more accurate especially in stock condition. I will I’ll probably pick up the RX slide. I don’t like the idea of losing my rear sight with the X Carry slide. I don’t know why they wouldn’t have suppressor sights that work with the Romeo 1 as in the RX slide.
  10. I am carrying a Sig P320 X Carry frame with standard slide on duty. I would like to get back into USPSA in Carry optics. The RX slide is available for $299 and comes with Romeo red dot and suppressor sights. The X Carry slide would cost more and looks like I would lose the rear sight. Is one set up preferable for carry optics? Also I picked up an X Compact grip module and was thinking about carrying with the compact grip with a red dot. Anyone have any experience on the Romeo dot quality. If I pick up the X Carry slide I can get a delta point which seems to be a better dot for competition/carry. Thanks for any advice. I am just looking at options and would prefer to get a set up that can be used for carry optics and reliable enough for carry. At this point I can’t carry a red dot on duty.
  11. Thanks! Now I want one, but definitely not inexpensive.
  12. What is a super GP 100? Is it different than the Match Champion? I really like my ruger revolvers and they are easier to work on than S&W or Colt.
  13. I thought LAPD Swat carried Kimber TLE? I haven’t carried a 1911/2011 on duty, but would if they were allowed. Any idea the difference between the Lawman and Staccato?
  14. I just use the OEM minus connector and 6# trigger spring. That alone makes a big difference and only costs about $20-25. Also 100% reliable. I am not an expert in this game, but like to shoot a few matches to improve overall gun handling skills for work as a LEO. I tried some of the expensive drop ins, but found I like to feel the positive reset of the Glock trigger and am used to shooting stock gen 3 for work so with minor mods I see a big difference.
  15. I used to do the same with glocks. I even ended up drifting my rear sight to the right. I ended up getting the SIRT red gun for dry fire practice and after a couple weeks of daily use, I had to put my rear sight on my Glock 17 back in the middle.
  16. I understand loosening the strong hand for a precision shot, but for Bill Drills for example, how hard should I be gripping my . strong hand? . I seem too be having problems with consistency. Some days I look better than I am. Other days I pull a couple shots out of the circle.
  17. I put the hogue handall on and feels better, but Didn't shoot any different. I also noticed it's harder to make grip adjustments out of the holster as fast as without. I will leave it on for a couple weeks, but probably go back to just the grip force adapter. Thanks for the replies.
  18. I have never used a grip sleeve on any handgun and shoot my glocks fine with grip tape or stock. A friend from work showed me this grip sleeve he has on his glock 26 and I have to say that it felt better in my hand. The palm swell filled out my hand making i feel like some of the more ergonomic striker fired guns available today. I never liked the feel of glock grips, but just learned to make them work. The friend of mine said he shoots much better with the hogue sleeve. I have never noticed any top shooters use them and looking for info from anyone who has tried them. This would be for my work glocks if I decide to purchase.
  19. I am more interested in shooting USPSA for extra gun handling/shooting while moving to better my abilities as a law enforcement officer. I shoot stock glocks most of the time, but we do a decent amount of strong hand/weak hand/transition from 2 handed shooting. The slight cant 20-30 degrees that was previously mentioned is taught in our training. Also changing your stance by moving your weak side leg forward, bring your non shooting arm in across your torso and push out slightly with weak side shoulder while locking out your shooting arm is how we were taught. I know LEO training is not always the best for competition, but we do a lot of one handed shooting simulated that our dominant arm is out of commission and the technique described has helped me. Another thing is to work on grip strength with captains of crush. most right handed shooters have a stronger right hand grip even though support hand grip strength is likely more important. The stronger your grip, the less you need to squeeze the gun and the looser you can keep your trigger finger. Anyway just ideas from someone who shoots a few matches a year when I have time so the experts here probably have better ideas, but I always take advice from anyone I can and discard what doesn't work.Good luck!
  20. I just bought a sig traditional tacops and so far am impressed. I wasn't sure if it needed a "break in" like les baers do.. Anyway this is my first 1911 and went with sig since I had a p229 with over 15K rounds and never a failure. I originally looked at the SA TRP, but after shooting a friend's sig scorpion, I went with the tacops for $920 from Bud's. I ran a boresnake through the barrel, put a little slip 2000 on the barrel and rail that I could get at without breaking it down and ran 375 rounds through it. I actually expected a few failures early on since even my gen 4 glock 19 and 26 had a couple FTE during the first few magazines. The Tacops was perfect though 200 rounds of american eagle 230 grain fmj,,100 rounds WWB 230 grain fmj and 75 rounds of speer gold 230 grain. I don't know if it was necessary to break it in, but I am glad I did. The trigger is great, at least to me (4#3 oz avg), grip is perfect and the night sites are good. For the price, I don't knpow if I could do better or not. I may change out the sites or I might just get another 1911 to use for competition. For years I have stayed away from 1911'as after hearing how unreliable they are, but as I get older I am realizing I missed out on a lot and have a new found appreciation for revolvers and the 1911.
  21. I have the 22c. My daughter and wife prefer it to any other handgun. The safety is very 1911 like, frame and grip are very thin and my daughter can easily make headshots at 10 yds 9/10 times. I usually load it with cci minimags, but have ran Winchester super x, stingers and some 20 year old thunderbolts. The only ammo that has not been 100% has been the thunderbolts where I have had 4 or 5 ftf out of about 10 mags. Overall , I have over 500 rounds through it and it's a great gun for teaching new shooters or just practice for more experienced. I had an extra cmr201 rail laser that I put on just to play around with. The cmr201 is sighted at 50 ft and it's right on. Anyway, I highly recommend it.
  22. I was talking about the professional model that was $2800. Looks like I should be able to get it a few hundred less.
  23. Thanks! I will check on the LEO price. I am much more concerned with reliability and accuracy than looks, but I like the look of the Springfields anyway.
