Finally read the FAQs

Finally read the FAQs (3/11)

  1. I remember this topic came up when the 4sec. rule came into effect. I didn't think it was fair then or now. I'll be 76 in May, my knees are shot and I need a cane to walk. I'm an A class shooter with A and M scores in some of my rated stages. When it comes to Outer Limits they become comes more like C class scores... those extra 12 seconds added on are a killer...I think they should go back to the three sec penalty, while it hurts, it would still let me competitive. I agree to just let it be about pure speed shooting, for those that can shoot and move, shoot Action Steel. Today they had their first Action Steel match at Homestead, it was a big success and will grow.
  2. Yes... being a 75 yr old disabled person, I would love to get rid of Outer Limits... I hate taking those 4 sec penalties... definitely doesn't equate to the type of scores I get from all the other stages. Needless to say, I'm a bit prejudiced on this one.
  3. I have been running the Volquartsen trigger kit for over a year with out any problems. edyan A646
  4. I also shot that Fla State match and received that 2 sec penalty which I also agree was too liberal ... put me in the 15 sec range (never see that again). I'm 74 and need a cain to walk anything more than a short distance, the reason I take the penalty is for safety reasons because I stumbled and fell down trying to go fast the standard way one time....I can do it in about 5-6 sec if I'm careful...I'm only about 3 sec behind making M in PCCO so I shoot the other stages pretty well... I'll be glad to hang my handicap parking permit on my little wagon if proof is needed. edyan A646
  5. I also think 4 sec per string is excessive for disabled shooter...a normal 3 sec procedural sounds fair but adding an extra second because someone is disabled isn't. It almost seems like you are receiving a little extra because of your condition... I believe one can't choose to shoot from the center box and take the penalty, but that you should have a physical condition that is pretty obvious. A 3 sec penalty wouldn't aid a B class or higher class shooter, it might aid a C or D class shooter a little, but they still have 7 other stages to complete so I don't think it would be an advantage.
  6. Waiting for the MagPul stock...that with the TacCom hand guard should be a good set up ...more of a pistol type grip & adjustable comb, should also be lighter than stock since it's hollow for storing extra mag.
  7. I recommend that you change it the first time you disassemble the carbine...it's inexpensive and a much higher quality part...don't wait for the stovepipes to happen.
  8. I have one of the early ones and the extractor will begin to fail a couple thousand rounds (stove pipes)I replaced it with the Mcarbo exact edge extractor and it solved the problem.
  9. I didn't mean the one with slots was lighter than the one without them... I was comparing it to Ruger's or the other metal ones.
  10. I got one of the early carbon fibre ones with the slots & the ergonomics makes a big difference in the handling, the other ones actually make the carbine heavier.
  11. Me too...until I used the calculator I didn't realize that I only need to drop 3.37 sec to make M in PCCO...That gives me 7 stages to to get there without OL which is my nemesis. edyan Super Senior A646
  12. Hi Zack...maybe discuss bringing back the old 3sec penalty instead of 4sec for disabled
  13. Last Sunday's local match...4 standard & 1 outlaw stage... 48 shooters, I came in 9th overall. Here is what happens: Showdown - 3rd overall Roundabout - 3rd overall Speed Option - 4th overall Outlaw stage - 2nd overall Outer Limits - 16th overall The range isn't large enough for all 8 stages but when they don"t have OL I often end up near the top...when I shoot all 8 stages I do better because of the 3 extra stages to make up some time...I love the sport but those 4 sec per stage penalties are tough... I think a standard 3 sec would be more equitable...
  14. I made a couple of video's (too large to post) of an Allchin Comp and a Volquartsen single port comp... both cause the muzzle to dip about 1/4 to1/2 inch upon firing instead of rising up... then the muzzle bounces back up a little more than where it started when using mini-mags
