  1. Any drill is helpful for competition, depending on what your goal is and what you are trying to get out of
  2. At 1 sec, you probably don't have much time if any to aim. You draw and fire, but you observe the sights and call your shots.
  3. Dot torture? Or ben's dot drills? Both seem to be good drills for trigger control practice.
  4. Keep your attention up when the gun fires, where is the sight? were front and back aligned? Keep doing this will eventually get you there. What else would you be looking at or paying attention?
  5. For different levels of shooters, I guess the question would be different. For say a 90% shooter, his question might be, why is the really top shooter better than the 90% shooter? where does the difference come?
  6. Establish a few areas that you think you are not as good as others, and set up simple drills yourself to improve on those areas.
  7. I would say that there is not much difference between the two books. There is very little new content that will help you get to another level if you already have his first book.
  8. Took me about a couple sessions, although every now and then for really difficult shots, I seem to close the other eye subconsciously, or maybe almost close.
  9. I have constantly been thinking if my grip is good enough. To me, it's the number one thing if you want to shoot faster.
  10. Fiber optics for sure. If the dot distracts you, just make it smaller. But when you get better, the dot helps you to see faster and shoot faster.
  11. Have this been decided where it's going to be? Will definitely go if it's like what you said, but looking online, it says it will be in QC rather than ON.
  12. Thanks for the reply guys. I just looked at all my guns. 2 of infinity single stacks(one 5.4, one 5 inch) both have the firing pin protruding a little bit, maybe 1/16 inch past the breach face when firing pin was pushed flush with firing pin stop. 1 infinity double stack does not protrude. 2 of my other 1911 maker guns are also not protruding. Is this a problem for empty start? I would think that if you insert an empty mag, the top round will drag the firing pin?
  13. Happened twice to me on two new firing pins. Same situation. I was practicing empty start with dummy rounds(no primer, so empty primer pocket). The hammer is down. Insert mag, rack slide, pull trigger. Then slide can't be opened. Tried really hard to push it open, and found that the firing pin was bent, about a quarter inch from the tip, and it won't go back into the tunnel. Had to push it back really hard. Can someone explain to me what's going on and how to avoid? Will it also happen if I do this in live fire empty start for a match? Gun is SVI single stack. Thanks.
