Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. I seem to have a means for having few issues related to sub conscious shooting. Where I ensure that I know what my plan is, where I plan to reload, what my focus would need to be for each target, what I need to see. From there I try to visualise the stage in my mind. Once I step onto the line I try to clear my mind as best as possible of things that would force my mind to focus on something consciously while shooting the stage.I have found that the best means of doing so is being able to find what you need to do in order to relax your mind and your body and knowing what your limits are - in my experience. On some stages I will still need to enter some conscious thought if I have not developed or worked on my particular limits on that stage or target array in order for myself to either slow down my splits on difficult targets and ensure that I can call every shot without rushing myself (as mentioned the biggest killer to IPSC Shooters) an example would be two targets at 50 ft with on the first target I engaged realistically I called both shots but on the other target I called the first shot on target and my second shot came up to fast and moved on - I would recall that my split was to fast on that particular target and can recall it, but the rest of the stage was more a blur of enjoyment. I am also currently reading Enos book and starting to get a better understanding of everything.
  2. At this point in time my completion is a CZ Shadow and my carry is a Glock 23, I shoot the shadow in production IPSC So essentially the principle is the same between the 2 guns, draw and squeeze the trigger to shoot no disengadging safeties. The biggest learning curve was to learn how to squeeze the trigger and not pull or slap it. I do have full intentions to start shooting standard gun though. Which will not be with a Glock.
  3. Thank you very much I will contact SVI and Communicate with RangerTrace.
  4. Good day all, I am new to the forums and have been following and gathering information closely, I have been searching the forums for the better part of two days now and have not found the answers that I am looking for. I am looking for as much information, advice and tips with regard to the building of an SVI (the do's and don'ts) I am working closely with a gun shop here in South Africa that will soon become our local supplier for SVI. Here in South Africa it is very difficult to find somebody who owns an SVI (like chickens teeth) that we could go and look at and study for our own benefit for our build. I have had a good look through all the information portrayed on their website and there are still certain aspects and concepts that are unknown or not understood and I am hoping that I could kindly request such information from you ladies and gents who have either build, own or have experience with this type of handgun. We would like to build these handguns for myself and other enthusiastic shooters for IPSC Standard division. The template from SVI gun builder that I believe is the right one is: SVI Design Template Name: USPSA/IPSC Limited/Standard 5.4 inch Pistol Some of the unknowns to me are as follows: - Advantage/disadvantage of a sight tracker concept? (from my understanding a hybrid barrel is used which has a top "rib" protruding from the top of the barrel with the sight fitted to it - thus the sight does not move with the slide?) - Advantage/disadvantage of a bull barrel? - Which sight set up and why? how wide? etc. - How would I determine which grip size and style would be best suited to myself? - What trigger length? - Am I restricted on the type magwell I choose to allow the handgun to fit in the IPSC box? (flat has to be machined on the back) In turn if I could please ask for as much information possible from you regarding what should be carefully considered and possibly what your ideas were as well as concepts when you build your SVI and what influenced your decisions? I am new to this platform handgun and I am very eager to learn and any help, information and advice will be greatly appreciated. Stay safe and I hope to hear from you soon.
  5. Thank you Hi-Power Jack, You then also got an early start on shooting in general which i am sure complimented your shooting in some ways, the main thing is that we all enjoy the sport in general. I am also no expert, we need to learn from the expert guys so that we can also start to teach, without questions there would only be experts.I fully intend on coming out one day to shoot one of the bigger matches that you guys host over there, pitty I wasn't ready for the world shoot in florida. thank you for the warm welcome.
  6. Good day all, I am enjoying the amount of information portrayed in this forum, I look forward to learning and hopefully contributing. I am 22 years old and have been shooting IPSC for approximately 18 months and enjoying every moment of it. Shooting in production for the at the moment but am looking at moving into standard gun, as I have fallen in love with SVI guns. Shooting started for me at a young age but the bug truly bit when I decided to purchase my first firearm and then joined IPSC from there I decided that I was going to improve my skills and become competitive in the sport. Cheers!
