Anyone that says "they can just shoot in Open" for whatever is asking to just delete ALL the divisions.

Because they can all shoot in Open (except PCC, and who cares about that 😀)

That was how it was for the first 20 years "all guns compete together equally".

But a "sport" that changes it ruleset capriciously will eventually cease to be a sport.  It will become a repositiory for a bunch of new gun owners with shiny new toys to play outside and collect participation swag..

IDGAF if this becomes a division or not but with all the pontification about plastic=2011, magwells don't matter if you practice and DA/SA =SAO, just make a minor PF, slide mounted optic, uncompensated division and lump everything in this together. It would save a lot of Internet bandwith

...But, the problem with CO/LO/L/O is the absurd amount of money and time I would have to dump in to get a competitive gearset. From the outside looking in, an optic ($500ish) basepads ($50-100ish)..

If this is the barrier to entry for you, I would strongly consider another hobby.  Do the math on a week of practice for many "competitors", people with no chance of winning a major match but who aspire to improve for their own reasons (like me).

    reloading/ammo costs for 500+ rounds/week

    local match fees.

gas to drive the 80 mile round trip to the range 2x per week

Then add in Majors, hotel, airfare, food, etc..  And a backup gun(s). And a backup optic or three

And you are worried about basepads which will likely not need replacing for years?   Time to take a hard look at your finances and decide if USPSA makes sense for you

    • .. the name is now ridiculous and does not reflect what the division is...

this has been a fun thread to read.  Here is another suggestion for the name of the division

    P.  rovisional

    U.  ncompensated

    S.  ingle Action

    S.  lide mounted

Only that your minus 3 rounds.

    Options abound:

    Lose 3 rounds

Fit a 9mm barrel to your slide

    Get a 9mm top end

Buy a   9mm LO gun +/- sell the .40 gun with irons

Whine on the internet that you aren't competitive in a provisional division

If there's no major power factor they're basically completely catering to staccados. Most people spending serious money on a 2011 are just going to open. That also means everyone with a 40 that they shoot in limited can't just get their slide milled.

It is too bad that there is a rule against shooting .40 minor

Is it any more dead than .38 Super?  Does 9 major even exist in the real world?  So do you think we should s@*tcan Open?

Don't F@%# with Open, or get rid of Major.  Open is just fine the way it is. Let the peasants debate the other  nonsense.

ask for their financials.  I'll leave it at that

and even if they weren't, raise the price 25$ x 300 shooters and you have a 7500$ pasting fund.  You can keep the cotton T-shirt and mediocre BBQ.

can you be more specific about this? How much money is being made at an area match, and what happens to it? Are the MD's getting rich?

ask for their financials.  I'll leave it at that

It's par for the course and not surprising that the majority of people here crapping on the idea of staff reset matches have never shot one or worked one.

Kinda hard to take that angle seriously.

I know a lot of shooters who would never consider shooting a major match again without staff reset.   If anyone still believes that big matches like area matches are not making money already, you have not been paying attention.

I've also seen the model where shooters are required to spend 1/2 day during the match acting as pasters and reset assistants.  Under this model EVERYONE has to help sometime during the match, but not during the periods when they are shooting.

sounds awful. Don't they do this in Canada

South Carolina,, and North Carolina state matches are two that staff resets. All you do is shoot and plan next shoot. I’ve worked them and shot as a competitor and it’s great . Both get some money plus shoot for free if you work all days.

I have shot NC as well as GA state and A6 with this format.  It is so much more enjoyable as a competitor and much more efficient.

I don't think you are qualified to rate your own failed joke thread.

probably no more qualified than the typical B/C geriatric shooters opining on the usual topics. You have been here long enough.  You know how the Internet works

Jokes are supposed to be funny.

    I will count you as a non-participant

after reading the neverending echo chamber of single action optics threads, this is comparative comedy gold

    Damn, bringing the heat.

I'm classified in both of those and support your campaign.

I suspected that  this would be an issue with you.

After consulting with Steaksauce and Hotdog, we will allow such competitors to compete only if they achieve the "Trifecta of Unwantedness". This entails achieving an additional classification in Limited 10 (on top of revolver and PCC).  If you live in a ban state or shoot at Cameo, it must be done with 170mm mags, downloaded to 10 rounds.  A waiver will be found in the appendix of the rule set pending approval

Question. In this new class can I hire someone to shoot in my place

    Yes, with a caveat...

This change would necessitate dropping from major to minor scoring as well as a mandatory increase in power factor back to the original IPSC standard (you get double F*$#ked)

    A nomenclature analogy:

    Class:Division::Clip:Magazine

Poor man's open part 2! Doesn't IDPA and Tactical games rules allow guns with these specs?

I know nothing of those games..

I just think that that my ruleset works best in today's USPSA landscape.

I would also consider banning the use of factory ammo and prohibiting anyone who is classified in PCC or revolver from participating.

with the Exception of the dremel and SAO, how is this different than open?
    I don’t see the point…

    what am I missing?

Jeeez, don't forget the weekly emails, LOL

  17. I would propose SAO, frame mounted optics, magwells allowed, compensators allowed and ported barrels optional

I would explicitly ban DA/SA because having to invest in a dremel may discourage participation.  Excessive amounts of polishing compound may lead to premature metal fatigue

If flashlights and lasers will bring new shooters into the sport, I fully support them too.  Same thing with AIWB

It would also be mandatory, if you want to shoot this to division, to continuously post on this forum regarding the relative merits of the division as well as a weekly email to your section coordinator, area director and YML

At least one of the open class world IPSC champions does not shoot a 2011.

If it fits you and works continue. Spend your money on ammo and training.

Division not class. And if you are referring to EG, he would be world champion with any platform.  He gets paid well to shoot what he shoots.
