  1. Excellent demonstration. I think I will shift away from my desire for a closed emitter. Now I need to concentrate on the dot itself; which is most pronounced/round and trouble free? Any thoughts?
  2. Just feel it would be less susceptible to debris and protect the emitter.
  3. That seems like the ticket. Any real world experiences with reliability? On a par with the Aimpoint ACRO P-2?
  4. I too am just a scrub. ,amber I am making too many much out of the dot size.
  5. I read where the optimum size dot for action shooting was 6 moa. What I really need to do is get a hold of the Aimpoint ACRO P-2 ams see for myself. However, if there was an alternative enclosed 6 moa, I would be inclined to go with that. Perhaps if I wait a bit longer, not my strong suit, there will be more enclosed emitter red dot choices.
  6. Who are the manufacturers which make a 6 moa enclosed emitter red dot pistol sight? Any personal experiences? I really like the looks of the Aimpoint ACRO 2, however, it is a 3.5 moa dot and Aimpoint replied to my email that they had no current plans to offer a 6 moa dot.
  7. I just have it still. I will take a look this evening.
  8. FYI; I received an email reply back from FW Arms; they are going to add additional caliber shell plates to their production and are working on a tool head. Any of their products I have purchased are first rate! I will keep my eye out for these new products.
  9. My two cents for what it is worth; years ago I set my Limited gun up with a Mitchell mag release so I could use my right index finger rather than my thumb for mag changes. Was shooting a match on Long Island, was C class at the time but was shooting an A class match. I had smoked the match and was on the last stage, (had some M and GM shooters watching) had one reload before last 5 rounds. Hit the mag button but my finger either slid off or was too close to the trigger after the reload; had an AD. The M and GM shooters argued that the round clearly went forward into the berm, however, I knew that the gun went off without me consciously pressing the trigger. I accepted the DQ without protest. Really sucked, but right call. First thin I did when I got home was remove the the mag release and change back to a conventional thumb mag release. I also have a checkered insert on the side of my frame to rest my index finger when I make a reload. Just one man’s experience.
  10. I too use the Level-10 hold down die with my Dillon tool head. I see, where F.W. Arms is coming out with a hold down die as well. https://fwarms.com/shop/reloading/fw-arms-auto-case-centering-dshd/ I would like at some time to switch to a CNC type tool head. Hope someone picks up the slack and starts making them.
  11. I inquired via email if they had any plans to produce one to load STI 40 S&W type magazines; did not hear back. Probably too small a market. I have on in 223 for AR type mags; works fantastic! Real labor saver.
  12. I was looking for the same thing for my 40 S&W, but no luck so far. Don’t know about 9 mm.
  13. They do have good pricing for bulk quantities. Have you purchased from them? Asking because I have not heard of them before.
  14. I saw that in the rule book; RO is suppose to demonstrate the correct starting position. I like this idea best of all, however, I bet there will still be some that push the boundaries. Personally, I have never shied away from conflict, but I can see how a volunteer RO would prefer to avoid it.
  15. I think that some weird contortions might be the result, however, I guess if the WSB allows it and is flexible, the competitor is free to do what they will. I am a bit old fashioned; “hands relaxed at sides” seem to be pretty clear to me, but I guess RO’s got tired of trying to police this. Kind of reclassifying certain crimes as not prosecutable and then declaring crime is down. However, this is a volunteer sport and the RO’s get enough grief as it is, so I am fine with changing the WSB to avoid conflicts. I just was curious after watching a video on YouTube showing the draw off hand being placed at the center line of the body. Seemed weird to me, but now that I understand that it is acceptable I can’t fault the shooter.
  16. While reviewing both stage designs and classifier diagrams on the USPSA webpage, I did notice a lot of start positions stated as “hands relaxed at sides.” Based on Appendix E3 it seems clear to me that “monkey start positions” in those cases are not allowed and should be handled as stated by “Johnny_Chimpo” above; the competitor is told to comply or will not be started. I think this would be especially important on classifier stages. It appears some course descriptions are using the “wrists below the belt” or “wrists above shoulders” start positions. I guess it is up to the RO to make certain the correct start position stated in the WSB is adhered to by the competitors. It just seems to me that allowing “monkey start positions” either by not enforcing the WSB starting position or by allowing them as part of the WSB, is problematic at best. Knowing USPSA competitors, there is no end to the machinations/contortions they will use to gain an advantage. Just one man’s opinion. Doesn’t really effect me since I use an hourglass to time my draw.
  17. Thank you George for the clarification. Much appreciated. Seems like a sensible solution to avoid never ending disagreements.
  18. I have a question for all the RO’s on the Forum. When the course description states the “start position” as “relaxed, hands at side,” I have noticed some competitors placing their off/weak hand in the middle of their torso, around the normal belt buckle location. Is this seen as “legal” and if not, do\should RO’s say something at Local or Major matches? I have also noticed some raising/coiling their strong hand moving it closer to the holstered gun rather than having it hang straight down. Again are/should RO’s be drawing attention to and correct this behavior? I always though the competitor’s arms should be straight, hanging at sides of their body, approximately along the pant side seams. Is there a better way to write the stage description? I do not want to start a firestorm of RO/Competitor conflicts, I was just curious after viewing some training videos.
  19. I am definitely going to keep a look out for them in the future. Thanks for all the information,
  20. A quick search did not yield any USA results. However, I know they are increasing their presence here in the States, so maybe their pistol components will start showing up. Thanks for the reply.
  21. Then, would it be safe to say most of the smoke is powder related and not bullet coating? Thanks
