  1. One of these guys....still need to install a magwell on the DWX. TSO is pretty awesome, but the narrow slide did limit the options on dot as long as I did not want to use a plate.
  2. From the factory? No it was not pinned. We looked at it at CGW, and I elected to not have them pin it, if the compound doesn't hold it, then all good now that it's got the dot on it. If it's supposed to be pinned, that's actually a relief to hear, I'd consider a second one to keep iron sights only, but definitely would want that pinned.
  3. No problem... Hope one of these three gives a good enough view.
  4. TSO works just fine. This was direct mill, no plate, but the width of the slide does limit what kind of dot you can put on. Original plan was to put an SRO on that I had sitting in the safe, but that would have had overhang, and required a plate. In this case, way smaller glass, but has not been an issue. Your mileage may vary.
  5. CGW took care of the front sight, as well as getting the EPS carry on, so my issue is solved! Beyond happy to have it back.
  6. Compact with the mags I use in my Shadow, I wouldn't run it with full size mags...
  7. Are y'all talking about the same thing? He was asking about the DWX Compact with full length mags. The compact uses 75C magazines, the full-size uses the P-10F magazines.
  8. It's funny you say that, I was in that boat, then got Lasik a few years ago, and was "absolutely going to get back at it with Iron Sights", with the exception that I didn't come back and get after it. Despite being able to see iron sights, and maybe actually prefer it, I'm over in Monroe, Louisiana at CGW waiting for them to mill a couple of slides for me, so I can play with a dot again! IF you want to do it, lol, eventually you will! Take those first few matches and go have fun. I've been blown away just keeping it simple, and finding out that I still love it after the time away, not it's time to take it a little more seriously.
  9. Brace yourself if it's been almost 20 years. The past couple of matches I have shot, (after taking 10 years off from IDPA matches) there were 28 of 41, and 43 of 72 shooters who were shooting either carry optics or PCC. I knew things had changed, and when I looked at sign-up's for USPSA, I see the bulk of people running a red dot between Carry Optics, Limited Optics, and Carry Optics. I remember when SSP/ESP and Production/Limited is what you ran if you wanted to compete against other people, because there were so many people in those divisions. So if you want 2 cents from someone who took a long time off before coming back to shoot it? Run whatever you want for a few matches, and then make a decision. Sight radius, more felt recoil between a G35 and G19 is almost irrelevant at this point. If you are worrying about those things, then you are likely running a significant amount of major matches, and you've put in a ton of dryfire, and live fire time, and then, going for those last few percentage points it'll matter. Until then, run the G35 for a match, then run the G19, run the 1911, talk to everyone out there, see what they like and are running, ask to try something you might be interested in, then you'll know you want to keep playing the game, you'll know your level of investment, and you'll be able to make the best choice for yourself.
  10. Now if it was in the Wilson Combat catalog instead of the Nighthawk, I'm pretty sure you could find a way to fit that in the box!
  11. That's awesome! Dan Wesson came thru early Monday morning with a shipping label and an RA. I still haven't shipped it, trying to decide if I'm going to mill it, and put a Holosun EPS carry dot on it, the guys at Cajun don't think there is enough room to leave existing rear sight on, so without...no need for the front I suppose. Still hate sending it away for any length of time, because I'm hooked on it.
  12. The compact is 30.8 oz.
  13. If it was loose, you'd notice! I was shooting at the head zone A-box, and all of a sudden started shooting way off to the right when I realized what was going on. It's a bummer, because like you mentioned, this is easily going to be my best carry gun ever. I mean CZ 75 grip mated with a 1911 trigger? It doesn't get any better than that. (For me...) As a side note, ANR had the only other kydex iwb that I could find, lol, and ordered it just before I went to the range today, so will have to see when it gets back.
  14. What are you guys doing for grip's with the magwell? I had been looking at Lok Grips, since I've used them before, but was told this: I'd prefer not to cross thread using these, but wondering what solution has worked for y'all.
  15. Any issues at all with your front sight? I put about as many rounds thru mine, and the front sight came off, something I have read happened to a couple of other folks on different forums. Now I can push the sight in and out with my thumb. Awaiting the DW response, and I hope quick fix.
  16. Having owned a Staccato and rented a Prodigy (so fully admit I don't have that time or rounds thru it to be entirely fair to it) my answer is the DWX hands down better than both of them...but that's just because I love the CZ 75 grip, and adding a 1911 trigger to it makes it incredibly easy to shoot. Now if your want a dot, then that might change the math, no idea how CZ/DW released the DWX without adding an optic plate, they had 4 years to see where things are going. If you forced me to make a choice between the two listed, I'd go Prodigy, but that's just me.
  17. I don't know.... When you stop going to matches, but you still enjoy shooting, I found that I've shot the hell out of my carry gun the last few years, because. why not? I'm not running any of the competition guns, because they were really built for that purpose, and even if they are fun, I'm not trying to improve my proficiency with them. Still love going out to shoot, but while overall volume went down, I found that I was spending 75-80% of my time and rounds thru my carry gun, just because that's fun to do for me. Flipping it though, was thinking about checking out one of the CAPS matches (Lol, was going to squad up with ya! Haha!) and seeing how interested I would be in getting involved again, but that's where I see math flipping. Once I want to go shoot matches, I'd expect to practice for that more, and then the reliability part and consistent shooting is less important to me on a carry gun. I don't doubt that survey is accurate, but I also think the "sport shooting community" is a far different niche than most gun owners. When I see someone on a gun forum talking about reliability, and proving out a gun before feeling comfortable carrying it, the answers mean a lot more rounds and testing than the general public. To topic, I think the platform matters far less, as long as the things Shred mentioned, size, weight, cost (and I'll add in carry-ability, and shootability, that maybe extended those just a hair.) are covered. I carried a higher end 1911, and didn't worry about reliability, the past couple of years I had carried an SFX9, and tried out, and considered a Staccato. I sold the SFX9, and decided to carry a Canik Mete MC9. So I went from high dollar to inexpensive. Based on rounds thru them, I'd have trusted my life to any of them. Do I think that some of the production guns take less regular service? Probably. I admit, I took better care of the 1911 than the Canik, but I also knew what level of commitment it took for me to feel comfortable. I don't think the potentially higher commitment to service and care that goes with a 1911/2011 should be a barrier.
  18. Think about it this way, the investment in the gun itself really isn't the big cost, although it's the initial outlay. You will spend significantly more in ammo, match fees, travel and other supplies to get going. If you are doing it "right", lol, or maybe doing it a lot, then the cost of the gun shouldn't be an obstacle or a regret. Go get the Canik, shoot the hell out of it, enjoy it, and use the savings to do two things: 1. Shoot more this year, and 2. Put some away to go get a CZ down the road. Eventually you'll hit the point where you can sell the Canik, and combine that with putting some cash away, and getting the CZ. Until then though, you'll be out shooting, having fun, and really deciding if CO is the division you want to stay in. Go look at the classifieds here, and see what comparable used guns, Glock/Canik or whatever are going for, so you have a benchmark.
  19. Material costs are up in huge ways. Q3 of 2020 a ton of steel was going for $491 these days is $1900 Iron, wood, precious metals have all gone up. Freight for a $40 container from CN in Q3 2020 was $4200 today its $17,800 That's why there are definitely price increases. Definitely give props to people who haven't raised prices because it means that profits have gone down for them. Oh, and side note, if you are thinking that prices haven't gone up, but you realize that the cost of raw materials has gone up, then think about the profit margin that they had before, and still have now.
  20. Being honest, I'd like to think that this is a good "problem", if you can even call it a problem. More demand means more responsible gun owners who are looking to get out and shoot. What it should mean is that local clubs prioritize people who are contributing to the club on a regular basis. Be it set-up, tear down, or the other things that go into running a successful club. It may turn some people away, but I suspect it will also motivate more people to get involved, and that's a positive. When I see clubs struggle, it's rarely because a venue doesn't want to host them, but rather an apathy to set-up, tear down, and work matches. Without coming off as negative, not sure why the investment I put into training, practice and so on should entitle me to a spot instead of someone who doesn't make the same investment. Shouldn't the investment that is being measured be that of who is contributing more to the club? Just my 2 cents..
  21. LTT 92 Elite as I start to work my way back into USPSA in Carry Optics Beretta PX4 Compact Carry for carry....
  22. Gabe White is who I think you are referring to RJH.... http://www.gabewhitetraining.com/ And this guy: https://www.instagram.com/lespepperoni/?hl=en But I'm not here to debate the rules, or the bullets out magazine, I just asked my question, because I had never participated in a BUG match, or shot the division (I was SSP). I guess my point is that one bad experience with someone doesn't mean it's a bad idea, because there are plenty of people who do it, and do it capably. Which is the rule, and which is the exception? I honestly have no idea. As long as it's safe, I've got no issue with it. Jim, in the situation you describe, I'd likely have felt the same way as you.
  23. Thanks, its been awhile since I shot a match, and I know that AIWB is not legal, but even when I regularly shot IDPA, never had a BUG match, so had no idea.
  24. Unless of course you carry AIWB? Or is that legal in a BUG match (and just illegal in any other IDPA match.)
  25. That's a heck of a survey pool! Thanks for the answer, was definitely curious if that would raise interest or not. Lol, sounds like it did not!
