  1. If have a 16" KAW & a 10.5" Faxon. Both handle rounds out 1.14" with no reaming. I've used 124 FMJ Montana Gold & 115 FMJ Hornady
  2. I have a DOH for 1911s that has the belt loop molded from the same sheet of Kydex as the holster body. It's how Bladetech used to make their holsters before the stingray belt loop. I think quality was better in the older holsters, more attention to craftsmanship and detail. But it wasn't SS legal, & no way to easily make it so, so it's in a box. I think the SRBL came out in the early-mid 2000s.
  3. I respect the need to "move em thru" but why use a gun capable of such good accuracy & watch guys blast thru with sloppy hits. Seems like a waste of time & ammo. We would never consider scoring a handgun match that way, why would it be any different with a carbine?
  4. "Time plus" scoring. Pass. There's only one gun, use hit factor scoring. Hotels are 25 miles away, at the closest. One is 50. Seriously? Maybe why it isn't full. Just my observations.
  5. Forgot to mention, Ghost 360 pouches fit Colt mags perfectly. $14 at Shooters Connection for the Hybrid pouches, which come with the flat pouches only, not the bullets-out.
  6. I have the Miculek-looking comp sold on eBay for $39. It adds a couple ounces to the muzzle, and I definitely see gas coming out of the ports.I'm just too lazy to take it off and time myself without it, so I'll leave it on for the same reason I wear orange New Balances, it makes me feel faster! I am shooting 124 FMJ at 135PF, but am switching to 115 FMJ with 3.5gr. of Prima V. I wonder what Max's load is with his mid-barrel comp. It appears he has the comp at about 8", then fake barrel welded on after that to make 16". An open-style light load with a slow powder might be reasonable in that set up, but the blow back action of these rifles would probably negate the effect of the comp. Kinda neat to see the evolution of these guns and what works, like when the open gun was developing.
  7. Some feel the Colt is inherently more reliable because of the feed ramp the Glock style does not have, unless you cut up your upper and add the Taccom one. I currently have both styles, and the only real difference is the added ambi mag release on the PSA Colt lower (I'm left handed). Both have been reliable once de-bugged. Colt/Metalform mags from PSA are half the price of Glock mags, in big sticks. Sometimes 1/3 the price, when they are on sale for $12. Bmiller just made me a magwell for my dedicated Colt style, and Taccom makes an inexpensive one for most other lowers. Unless you're left handed, I'd take either one.
  8. They aren't imported in the US. Canada has them.
  9. You need the proper tools, but yeah. I have a vice, upper & lower receiver blocks, barrel wrench, torque wrenches, buffer tube castle nut wrench, pivot pin tool, punches. I wouldn't do it without the proper tools. But once you have them, you can build all you want.
  10. PSA lowers work with any 9mm upper, other than Olympic Arms. If you go Glock, be sure whatever bolt you get is cut to work with Glock mags. Most are these days. A blem. Glock lower is $219, & there is a PSA upper & Faxon bolt in the classified right now. Colt style Metalform mags are really cheap now, & are the best of the type available. PSA has them for $13 when on sale, if you go Colt.
  11. I'm ready to buy more bullets, and thought about trying a lighter bullet. I bought a box of 115 Hornadys to try the weight without buying in bulk yet. After gleaning some threads for a starting load with Prima V, which I have 20 pounds of the old lot, I started at 3.5gr. 10 shot average gave me 1163 fps, 133 pf. 1.140" oal, and so soft.
  12. The only negative I've heard is when the RO starts the stage by asking if there are any PCC shooters on the squad, and when there are none, he replies with, "GOOD." Kinda subtle, but the point is clear. The only slow down I've witnessed is when PCC shooters come to the line with the gun cased instead of flagged and muzzle up/down, as the rules specify is allowed. Uncase at the side berm, don't muzzle anyone, and come to the line ready to MR. At ULSC, flag it, muzzle up/down, and follow the RO as he scores. It should be faster than handgun because you don't have to fiddle with a locking a race holster. I feel like an ambassador for PCC when I shoot. Guys see how much fun I'm having, and several have commented that they would like to try it. As far as classifiers, I hope it gets fixed as more PCC scores are collected.
  13. In AR pattern, decide Colt or Glock style. If you already have an AR, you could add a mag well conversion block & a complete 9mm upper & some Metalform mags, & go shoot. I have the RRA bottom loader, & it's been 100% reliable. In Glock style, I have a Palmetto billet lower that is also good to go. Mags are plentiful, & some like the angle of mag insertion better than Colt. I just finished a Palmetto dedicated Colt style forged lower. I had to tweek the ejector to the right with a couple wacks with a hammer to get reliable ejection. I love building my own. ARs are adult Legos.
  14. Where are SPP on sale? Cabelas is $28 for all sizes now.
  15. Good luck with the SRP in 38SC. I tried SRP in my 9 major open gun with a 17# mainspring, & it was a no-go. Really the only primer my open guns would not light. Just hard as stone. Hope it works
  16. Buddy has a Vortex Viper on a lightweight riser mount. I can't find the mount he uses. It's marked Vortex, but I don't see it on their website. He has a hook up at Vortex, so I think it might be a one-off. I like my Cmores. Big lens, stands up to recoil. Light enough. I'd try a Viper with the right mount.
  17. We're in contact, I think he might have me taken care of, thanks!
  18. I am building a PSA dedicated Colt style lower. I wanted it because I can run my ambi mag release on it, where I can't on the Glock lower. And I have a couple dozen Metalform mags. I assumed Tac Com would have an ugly add-on mag well for it, but they don't have one specifically for it. Is anyone else running this lower, and did you add a mag well to it? Which one? I'm thinking about ordering a couple different Tac Com's and figuring out which one works, sending the rest back. This lower is forged, not billet, and looks like a regular AR lower with a reduced mag well.
  19. I like the Hogue non-finger groove rubber grip. Have it on several game guns.
  20. Try some factory ammo. If it fires, its your ammo. Are you using lightened trigger and hammer springs? Sorry, just read they are stock. I still would bet on ammo related.
  21. I bought all my PSA's in the recent sales they've had, and all mine have come with regular blue finishes. Eric, I bet you got some they made for Brownells. Good score! I had ordered the Brownells 3 pack of their mags, and did like the finish, but not at the premium they cost, so I sent them back. They had a duller, slicker finish than the PSA mags. Some of my PSA's have their logo on the base plates, some don't.
  22. Yesterday, I ordered a couple Ghost 360 Hybrid pouches from ShootersConnection. They were only $14 ea. What's the diff. between them and the regular Ghost for $23? The pics looked the same. I assume they only come with the regular pouch, and not the bullets out pouch.
