  1. Hi all,

The squad schedule for Area 3 is posted on the A3 web site. Also updated directions to the range from the hotel can be found there as well. Thurs. and Fri. shooters will be starting at 8:30am with a brief shooter's meeting. Sat. shooters will be starting at 7:30am with a brief shooter's meeting. I am looking forward to seeing all of you! :D

  2. HI ALL,

At a match a couple of years ago, a competitor did this at a Nationals. First, a competitor got a handicap pass so he/she could use their car to drive to the stages. This was approved by the match director. What happened is the entire squad that was with this competitor, got into the car and drove to all their stages. At this point the RM was called to the car twice to retrieve a dropped gun. The gun was in the holster and empty, but the entire belt, holster, mags, everthing was on the ground because the competitor had taken the entire rig off to be put in the trunk to proceed to the next stage. I seem to remember that there was a point at which the RM said "enough is enough". Common sense needs to rule.

  3. IPSC G34, did I understand you to say you had family with you? If that is the case there are a great many things to do. In Quincy there are movie theaters. golf courses, swimming pools and water slides, museums, parks, and a lot of other family things to do. Even Barry has a public golf course, swimming pool, and I would highly recommend a visit to the Apple Basket. There is also a new winery in town, (OK, not a family visit kind of thing, but...). Also as Limited 40 said, Hannibal has alot to offer. I have been through Mark Twain cave a number of times and always find it to be great fun. And I would go on the Mississippi river boat dinner cruise every visit if I had the time. If you are attending without the family, you are correct there is very little adult intertainment to be found. I have always been of the mind to make my own fun if I found there to be a lack of anything that suited me. Look me up or send me an email, I will do my best to find something that will please you! :)

  4. The CRO should have never started the stage without everyone being there. There is simply no excuse for treating shooters that way. As Brian said earlier, start only if an entire squad is there and has ask you if they can shoot at this time. It is too bad that this had to happen.

  5. Yesterday evening the MN legislature passed a carry conceal bill. Within two hours the governor signed it into law. It takes affect in 28 days!!! I say it was a very, very good day here. :D

  6. I would be very surprised to find out that our members would want uncertified staff to RO at Nationals or for that matter, at Area matches, who were not a certified RO/CRO/RM. I also believe that Point Series matches should have certified staff. At area 3 last year, Arnie Christianson, the area 3 director, made an unpopular decision to not use any staff that was not currently certified. He lost about 1/3 of his staff, but others stepped up. I think this is an excellent decision, as area matches are a prelude to the Nationals and to the next World Shoot. Our organization has some of the best range staff to be found. It is to bad that more people do not want to step up to the plate and make a difference at all of our matches. A job well done on the range can be more than just shooting a good match.

  7. Sometimes a COF's start position is not a safe place to have the competitor LAMR. Start positions frequently can be behind a wall or other obstacles. That means moving the competitor out of the start position to safety have him LAMR. Think about a start position with the competitor seated in a chair. I certainly would not have the competitor LAMR while setting in the chair. Just a few more things to think about.

  8. Does everyone here realize that the IPSC rule committees are getting together Feb. 10th & 11th in Orlando in conjunction with SHOT Show?  The USPSA has 5 people working on these committees including our president.   After two days of meetings they will present rifle, shotgun, and pistol rules to the president's council.  We will all know shortly if these rules are accepted by the council.  If so , yes they will be put in front of the GA in Italy later this year.   I attended the USPSA BOD meeting in Nov. in Dallas.  My notes from that meeting include a statement from our USPSA president forseeing USPSA leaving IPSC if the current rule committees could not come up with acceptable rules.  So instead of speculation, ask questions & find answers through your Area Directors & President.

  9. I thought that these forums were to be respectful of others?  Blasting IPSC, using people's names, and questioning their character should fall under the no tolerance rule used for the benos forums. Stewart has already done this on the USPSA members page and the IPSC list/digest.  Please do not let him start here!  :(
