    Lance is a very gifted person. I am lucky enough to be home in the mornings, so I have been watching the Tour. I have it on right now with the volume turned up so I can hear the show while I do my morning routine of email, forums, etc.

    Jerome, did you see any of the satges? Lucky Dog if you did! :D

    Hi all,

    I just got home, it is 6:45pm Thursday night, July 8th and the last of the Sat. slots are now filled for the Area 3 match. If your entry is received tomorrow or later you will be notified that you are not in the match for Saturday. Anyone sending an entry needs to request Thursday or Friday only. AREA 3 is full for Saturday!!! Thank you. :D

    Arnie & I are still in St. Paul, MN but not for long. We closed on a new house last weekend in beautiful Linn Creek, MO!!! He has to stay and work until Nov. 1st before retiring, but I believe I will be moving Labor Day just before Pistols Nationals. I'm really going to miss all of the cold and snow here in MN. ;)

    Jan and Allen,

    I got your entries in the mail yesterday. I am sure Arnie and I will have some champagne, lots of it! :D We are closing on a new house this Friday, July 2nd in Linn Creek, MO., just south of Columbia. Just before Area 3 we will will be moving more of our stuff there. I am looking forward to seeing both of you. Lots of refreshments need to be drank Sat. night!

    The only other thing I might have done was inform the RM of the problem. That is why they get paided the big bucks. :D This would have kept the RM & the ROs at any stages left for that shooter informed of the problem.

    Dealing with non-english speaking shooters

    I agree with Vince. The range commands are not a problem. Range commands are given in English all over the world.

    On the other hand range briefings are the real challenge. In Italy recently, Arnie and I gave the range briefings in English. Skywalker worked as an RO with Arnie and I RO'ed with Roberto, an IROA/CRO who spoke almost no English only Italian. After the briefings were given in English, Skywalker and Roberto would give the briefing in Italian if necessary. It was a great system and required very little extra time. On Sunday the staff put 140 shooters through the match and we were done by 6:00pm! Sign language is a great way to communicate. :)

    The Pan-Am was a great experience for the US staff a few years back. I had an IROA/RO from Brazil working my stage who spoke almost no English. It certainly did not stop us from having a great time and running a good stage. Also attending that match was a high percentage of non-english speaking shooters. I did no experience a single problem dealing with them at the line.

    The bottom line is a range, is a range is a range, is a range, no matter where it is located in the world. The range commands are always in English and shooters and ROs alike should know what is expected of them. ;)

    Cliff and Richard have gotten their entries in to me for Area 3. I have also received an entry from Jerry marked revelover. Arnie & I will try to put all of the revolver shooters into one squad, but if 20 or more show up we will have to divide into 2 squads! :D

    You are correct. Arnie and I have used this procedure before. :) Of course if the first squad of the match shows up and makes an order of their own that is fine also. I wish more squads would do this. I personally become very tired during a big match from mixing the score sheets and pulling radomly, because shooters are always complaining about either being first or last for the last 8 stages and then I pulled their scorecard that way again. Sometimes I take the person who is complaining the loudest and make them pull the scorecards. This causes most of the complaining to end as the squad can then blame their buddie. :P Squads, become organized, it helps everybody. BTW, this is how the better shooters run their squads. The biggest reason is that after a few stages everyone knows who to follow. That leaves more time for shooters to get into their game mode. :D

    Happy Birthday Vince! I hope you have a wonderful celebration for the occasion. Champagne is always good, right Skywalker? ;)

    Maybe the confusion about being President came from the fact that you are Founder and CEO of the IPSC Centre for Mentally Battered ROs! I see we now have Doctors and patients. If you will grant me permission, I will assist our newest doctor in treatment of our patients. I even promise not to tackle them except when necessary! :D

    E-tickets are very handy. Here in MN we almost always have to use NorthWorst as kimel called them. The nice thing about it is I can go online and print my boarding pass up to something like 24 hours before my flight at my home computer before I leave for the airport. All I do then is check my luggage at the curb and go straight to security.
