  1. Mr White Yep, The Hogue Rubber Big Butt grips with no finger groves are great. I also have a set on my 986 and think they are the way to go.
  2. I had Tom at TK Custom take the cylinder from my 38 Spl. (67-5) and convert it to 9mm 6 shot with moon clips. I added a C-More STS-2 a pair of Hogue Big Butts and Apex internals. I shoot a 147g with 3.5 g of 231. Test Target at 25 yd's
  3. This is my M&P Ported with C-more STS, 7MOA on top. I use TTI +4 mag extensions on my 9mm Mag's
  4. I agree. I bought the BMT kickstand when they first came out. I did the allchin cmore mount prior, went to the BMT 90, then tried eotech for awhile after talking to rich about it. The eotech is genuinely great, the 1 MOA dot is bright and visible regardless of light conditions and becuase it is so crisp and bright and with the 65 moa ring around it, its always "there", you never have the sensation of trying to find it. I struggled/obsessed with the height over bore thing though, how to get a good zero. The first match I shot it at, there was a stage with 5 yard x rings, becuase of the zero and height over bore, having the dot low in the X ring resulted in A's hits, not X's. I spent alot of time at 50/25/10/3 yards working it out on my range but gave up becuase I was obsessing to hard over it that it was detrimental to my goals and went back to the BMT cmore configuration. I am considering giving the eotech another go given the IRC is much later this year. As great and proven as a cmore is, its not perfect. battery life is terrible, it washes out in the right light conditions and for some they refuse to hold a zero. I still shoot my S&W 986 with an Eotech XPS-2 , the battery life is ok, stays on through an entire match, 8 stages and holds Zero....I have not tried the other Eotech, but after talking with the company, they suggested the XPS-2 for use on a revolver.... Works great! Girphoto
  5. Thanks for the info...Just ordered one......A great find GR
  6. Howdy I just picked up a M&P 4.25 in 9mm.....Thought my C-More RTS2 would fit......Noooooooo, Oh, well....called C-more and they still have a few original STS in Stock at $399......... Yep, I ordered one and will have it Wednesday and installed Wednesday........ I use C-More sights on all of my open guns and find them very reliable. Call C-More at 540-347-4683 Good Luck! Gary
  7. My 986 NEEDS MOON Clips or the round falls into the cylinder and then the wood dowel comes out to get it out......
  8. Well, I did it the easy way for the hot summer months in Florida, I picked up last week an LCR in 9mm with moon clips (comes with 3). The rubber hammer grips are ok, but I ordered a set of custom no finger grove Walnut grips fro it from badgercustomgrips.com. It weighs in at just under 19oz loaded and loaded with Hydra-sho 124gr. No problem carrying an extra moon clip or two with 5 rds each.
  9. Hi Pete I am on the other coast...and one of the clubs that I shoot at is is Fort Lauderdale and we shoot Steel Challenge the last Sunday of the month. It is about 40 min from my home and my indoor range is about 15 min from my home in Lake Worth. I also get up to Malabar and Okeechobee for Cowboy shooting and then we stay a little later to shoot other "toys". Come over to the other side of the state one day and the offer stands. Gary
  10. Hi Pete You may want also consider a C-more RTS2 on an Alchin mount. John makes this short mount very small and thin getting the red dot as close to the bore as possible. The controls on the RTS2 are on the side and are push button and easy to get to and if you need to change the battery, it has a door on the right side that you use to change the battery. Sight comes with a rail attachment and the bottom of the sight is completely sealed if you remove the rail base. I see you are on the West coast of Fla., and if you get over to the east side, get in touch with me and you can take my Revo with the RST2 out for a drive around the range.
  11. On my 986 I have an Eotech XPS2-0 and on my 67-5 custom to 9mm I have a C-more RTS2. My RTS2 was only a few months old and it kept turning off during stage ( ) I called c-more and they said they they have a fix to the board and if I would send it in they would do the upgrade for free and send it right back. Well, they are true to their word, They got it on Monday and I will have it inland Thursday. I use 5 other c-more's on my 1911's and 2011's with no problem. So I would go with the C-more. 986 and Eotech
  12. Hi jh9 The bullets that I use measure 355.5 I just got a large order of lead at 354 and after loading a few moon's I will test on Saturday after our Cowboy Match. If I have time I will Chrono it. Load is 4g Clay-Dot, Federal primers and 130g lead (at 354) I will shoot at 25 yds to keep all the same.
  13. So, I sent my S&W 67-5 to TK Custom and had them recut from 38 Spl. to 9 mm. The cylinder came back today, I took it to the range and out to 25 yes. shot 36 rds (6 clips) The result was not bad.....I load a 130g Berry's with 3.9 g Clay-Dot and Federal primers. It gives me a 123 PF.
  14. This was my first ICORE match and you all did a great job at the Central Florida Wheelgunners. Looking forward to the next ICORE match Well Done!
  15. Yes, I shoot my 986 all of the time and will shoot it on Saturday at The ICORE Florida State Match My load is ClayDot 3.9g with 130g Berry's Plated bullet and Federal Primers on a Dillon 1050 press Works out nicely.
  16. Cooper Did you have to change any of the inserts to get a good fit on your 929?
  17. Well, Howdy All Lets not sell the 986 short...There are some of us who like the smaller frame and do shoot Steel Challenge . After working on my new 986, I have the trigger at 6 #'s Shooting Berry's 130g Plated, and 3.3g of ClayDot withFederal Primers. I also added an Eotech XPS2.0 (you will see how handy it gets as you get older). I am going to shoot it in February at the Florida State Match on the 21st. Moon-clips from TK Industries and I was ready ro go. Here it is.....
  18. Look at G-Code Great product and good price http://www.tacticalholsters.com/product/OSH/OSH_Standard.html
  19. 1911Prof Glad you got it working..... Also try the new firing pin As I said, I got my trigger pull down around 6#'s and smooooth
  20. Hi 1911Prof I have now changed two of these hammers and the sear is a little long. I have put one in my 986 and one in my 67-5. Each time I have had to take off a little of the bottom of the sear with a small fife and the hammer locked inn a vise. Better to take off a little and I mean a little and try the fit. if you need more to come off repeat the process..if you take off to much WELL, you do not want to go there. I am not sure what gun you are putting this into, but if you take the trigger out be careful of the small SPRING in the trigger.. When it shoots out it is GONE...One gun no problem..The other S&W just sent me a few. They said to throw them on the ground and maybe the original with come to them while they are on the work bench. All kidding aside...Be care flu of that spring..It has a mind of it own Did you also get the extended firing pin and spring to replace in your Revo? A good idea as long as you have it apart Good Luck
  21. Thanks for the info..... I have a 67-5 with a C-More RTS2 That just went back to C-more because of bad battery contacts and they have a recall. What that means if you call them, they will approve you send them the red dot for the recall update... You pay shipping one way and they pay the other..They said they would do it in a week. I hope!
  22. Yp, It is a steel gun and after talking to the folks at Eotech, and a few shooters that use them, it is ust about right on once it is sighted in. Did not have time to get to the range (darn work always gets in the way ) but hope to get there Wednesday. And in fact I am not the first to do this, and it should work just fine. Steve_NEPhila noticed that Jerry Miculek, the famous speed shooter, has de-locked the S&W 627PC he uses for IRC Open Division competitions. If you looks closely you can see that the locking flag has been removed from the mechanism. AND Rich Wolf in ICORE Competition REVOLVERS, ICORE Custom revolvers for action pistol games, including IPSC and ICORE, the true sport of kings. Rich Wolfe (center) has come as close as any human ever has to beating Jerry Miculek at his own game. Miculek has gone unchallenged for 18 years at the game of ICORE (International Confederation of Revolver Enthusiasts) at local, regional and the Annual International Revolver Challenge sponsored by Smith and Wesson. Richard Koester on the left, Dave Lake on the right.
  23. I decided to change out my sights on my 986 and after talking with the folks at EoTech, they suggested using the EoTech XPS2.0. It comes in at 8oz. is less than 2 3/4 in long and fits nicely on the rail made by jackweigand. We cut the rail to fit on the 986 and mounted the EoTech. Going to sight in early this week and will report back.
  24. If it is LPA Then: Go to Fusion fire arms at Fusionfirearms.com Owner. Bob Server 941-485-2579 He has the full line I put LPA on my 986 Gary
  25. I also suggest with the TXT0107 LPA That you go to a .300 front sight I am using a HiViz .310 FO front and it works fine. It did not zero with a .250 It you can get the LPA sight set with front and rear Gary
