  1. That was exactly how I gripped my Shadows - it's harder to do on the Glock - I probably need grip tape in exactly the same spot.
  2. how did your dot track when you messed with it?
  3. I would assume that up and down would be preferred to minimize the chance of missing L/R on tuxedos - I've just always heard GM dot guys talk about the dot moving up and down - figured it was desirable.
  4. I'm lucky I guess - I shot left - went to CZ - came back and can shoot straight, addressing the trigger similar to how I do my CZs, which is basically with my finger tip.
  5. I have no doubt that this may have always been there. I also noticed that a lot of my missing left is not related to trigger control but rather on presentation if I'm not truly squared to the target I'll present left then have to center it up. So far I'm loving the feedback the dot is giving me.
  6. you've described my approach to a T. Up and to the right.
  7. So I'm trying out Carry Optics - switching after a few years on the CZ shadows - obviously grip and trigger is a new ball game from what I'm used to. The dot, jumps up and to the right, at about a 60 degree angle on recoil. Does this mean I'm overpowering the gun on the left side? Should I look at less force out of my support hand? Is it more force out of my strong hand? I've already gone through that "ah ha!" moment on "gripping the gun hard" twice now - maybe a piece of info for you worth considering - but the question stands -what do I need to do to make the dot jump straight up and down?
  8. That's good feedback. Thank you. Increasingly it seems the DPP is the way to go - but I still hear of some issues with the DPP.
  9. I'm kicking tires on a dot gun - it may be a P320RX - how does the romeo 1 hold up compared to like a DPP?
  10. There is a whole sport based around this. Embrace the fishing vest.
  11. I'm nowhere near as long a history or as many guns as you. I've done 2 slide stops (both in my practice SP01 shadow) and 3 TRS's - 2 in my practice SP-01 and 1 in my 75 Compact the first week I had it where I cranked on double action like a monkey in dry fire. Oh and 2 shattered FPRP - both in that same compact. nearly 3 years across 7 CZ's. only about 35k rounds as 3 of those models are HD/Carry pieces. The other 2 were my old SP01 shadows, and I upgraded them to my new Shadow 2's. Other than figuring out the hardway dry fire damages the FPB models all the parts breakages were on my old training gun which has about half the rounds reported on it.
  12. I think the current arc of rule changes this will continue to change to the point of safety rules will be enforced but otherwise shoot the targets as you see them. I used to be an IDPA MD and the safety briefs got to be painful trying to layout the tac sequence / tac priority / reload rules to the same questions of “why- seems dumb”. Thankfully they have eased that burden some. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. I must have awful luck, I've broken a handful of those slide stops.
  14. Have you observed this in your own guns? What round count are you seeing failure at?
  15. I remember reading a post about a year ago of some guys with some high speed science equipment that seemed to suggest the battering of the slide stop happens on the slide closing. Topic says it all - would a heavier RS increase or decrease the slide stop life in the 75B (including SP01s, etc) guns?
  16. Started a new VLOG series on chasing GM and training:
  17. Update - Made "Master" at the end of hte year shooting an 85.5% on "Can You Count". Onward and upward - moving forward will probably do a vlog on my YT channel as I chase GM this year.
  18. no it's not causing pain - just a lot of fatigue located at the elbow - to the point I could understand where it could develop.
  19. SO I've always heard of shooters elbow - never really understood it. @Jake Di Vita in the opposable grip on a production gun described the sensation of his grip as being like holding a bench press bar somewhere between 75% and 95% of the up position. In recently trying to stabilize my gun to the point that nearly any trigger press yields little to no site movement - my dry fire sessions have started causing fatigue around my elbow, both on the "downhill" side of my forearm and uphill at the base of my tricep. I couple that with a "firm thumb" where it feels like my strong hand thumb is pressing the frame into the rest of my strong hand and I get near zero sight movement and the sights track much more consistently. It's not a maximum effort necessarily and it's not particularly "tense" - but my elbow is rolled out while my shoulder is kind of rolled down. Looking at the mirror in my dryfire dojo (read: my wifes minivan) When I do this it appears to align the the recoil impulse linearly up my arm into my shoulder - which speaks to what Yong Lee mentioned on the firearms nation podcast of joint manipulation and I've heard it echo'd sense. The grip strength from my strong hand is still firm but doesn't feel like it needs to be crushed anymore. So mighty GM's - is this the sensation you get with the gun at full extension? This technique appears to be lining up the sights more consistently from teh holster allowing me to get on the trigger faster and it seems easier to transition more precisely to an extent as well. Long story short - anyone else feel it in their elbow?
  20. my two urban grays have issues with poly coat flaking off - it's in high wear areas specifically - but I have the urban gray - or at least they're urban gray for now... I was upset at first - then I remembered they're competition guns and they're going to get used. All said - I would have appreciated hard chrome or nitride frames. That also said my shadow 2's were also sub $1100 so I will take what I can get.
  21. Yeah it didn't live up to expectations established last year. Last year was a different range and different club hosting. NC section was managed about as well as it could be for a half day format - kind of gives the GA match a black eye IMO. If I sign up next year it will be a last minute kind of thing. If.
