Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. First, a thanks to Andy Horner for putting on a physically challenging match that tested your skills on all three weapons. It would be safe to say that everyone had some sort of humbling moment, I know I had a few. Second, a huge thanks to all the RO's who busted their humps for several days and still maintained a positive attitude. Lastly, squad 17, you rock! I'm glad I got to shoot with some old friends and make new ones. Team Hear Pro it was a blast to shoot with you folks, and Bethany you did awesome shooting irons. I hope to see you all at a match soon. Oh, Mr. Horner, you can count on team POF-USA returning next year so count us in for sponsor support! Train hard and stay safe. John
  2. go with MGM in my book. Family of shooters and supporters of the sport. Great people up there in ID.
  3. Im running them as well. I picked up a couple at the pro am and haven't looked back. love the feel, reset and the shoe. mine breaks at 1.5 lbs
  4. Any info and details on the match would be great. Thx
  5. Im in! Pete sets up some awesome stages. Be looking for some running and gunning with some challenge.
  6. Using a free float tube vs. having handguards connected to barrel at front sight has a few functions in my opinion. The free float tube does not input barrel flex as a HG connected to the barrel which comes in handy when using your handguard against props and such. If you use a sling, you can input enough torque to flex the barrel. Also a free float tube with a little extra length allows you to control the front end of the weapon and drive it to the targets a little better. Just my .02 cents worth.
  7. I misunderstood your post jake. Im sure that Nils did not intentionally go out and miss just to shoot fast. However there are times when an unintentional miss at great speed will not hurt you in the long run. This is not my preferred method, just observations.
  8. I disagree. Nils did this at the Nats. He had several misses and still won the title as National Champ. He can truly miss fast enough to win!
  9. Im with Jordan on this one except for one little tweak. After the cleaning for a major match I will go out and run a mag through the gun to function test and keep the gremlins out. Superstitious I guess!
  10. Just dive in. Its alot to manage all your gear but it comes together fairly quick. Its true what they say about 3 gun...its three times the fun and three times the ammo. See you this sunday!
  11. A 7" piston gun with a suppressor on it will not blast you with gas. If your piston setup is set on suppressed at the gas key, no issues. I have run suppressed from 7-16" both select fire and semi without issues. The shorter gas guns do give you a little taste in the mouth after shooting suppressed for a bit. Also, I have had a 7" gun get 5/8 groups at 100 yards. So accuracy with a smaller gun is a non issue. Terminal ballistics is, but thats another day. However shorter barrells do void certain warranties as smokshwn said. I work on both gas/piston guns and use them daily. Either platform is acceptable if setup correctly.
  12. Is this really still going on...where is the popcorn...anyone?
  13. Check their website @ yumamatchmasters.com. I know they have doing some steel matches and 1st sunday uspsa match.
  14. I also have a 5 & 6 inch limited and am currently shooting the 6 for the last 3 years. I love it, however I still shoot my 5 from time to time. The speed doesnt change much, however what is most important is that the gun (5 or 6) is setup right. I guess if you want a 6 then get one and you will get used to it. If you want a 5 inch then do the same.
