  1. With the addition of new sponsors the match has changed names. It is now the "Bushnell Elite Tactical Sniper Challenge presented by Beretta USA". Key points....... -Stages will be incredible. -Fantastic industry supported prize tables -Rules and detailed match descriptions are posted on FB as well as on the website.... www.rocksolidshooting.com -mil and LEO specific invites are available for departments and agencies. Please email,me at......... rs3matchdesign@gmail.com -One rifle must be 223 or 308 -Team members must carry their own rifle and pistol. -No operating system requirements. Bolt/bolt, bolt/gas, or gas/gas -Round count is yet to be determined but definitely no more than 200 and probably much closer to 150 or less. -separate prize tables for each division. -Being a sniper match that strives for realism, targets will be representative of enemy combatants and material assets.
  2. WHAT: The Palmetto Sniper Challenge at Clinton House is a 3-day, ruck-style sniper match that will test the fitness, marksmanship, and determination of 2-man sniper teams in 3 different divisions. Teams may enter in a division where they; ruck and camp, just ruck, or ride to the stages. It is the most realistic sniper match in the country. A team of carefully selected Subject Matter Experts have lent their experience and expertise to build a sniper match that is unparalleled. Several have taken part in the setup or competed in the annual USASOC International Sniper competition. The SMEs are comprised of warfighters, LEOs, and competitive marksmen from elite military units and law enforcement agencies from around the country. Represented are: 3rd, 5th, and 7th Special Forces Groups of the US Army, JSOC, MARSOC, Force Recon Marines, FBI, CIA, Durham NC SWAT, and Minneapolis SWAT. The 12 stages will be divided into two categories. Roughly half the stages will be based on historical engagements from conflicts around the world or law enforcement engagements around the US. The other half will require the teams to successfully demonstrate the skills necessary to complete the curriculums of the toughest sniper schools in the nation. WHERE: The match will take place on 2000 wooded acres in the rolling hills of upstate South Carolina. The Clinton House Plantation near Clinton, SC will host the match. It is a world class hunting and shooting facility and frequently home to national level Sporting Clays and 3Gun and Long-Range competitions. Full banquet facilities, a lodge, and onsite competitor housing are just a few of the amenities that The Clinton House Plantation has to offer. WHEN: Friday February 16th through Sunday February 18th, 2018 WHY: The Palmetto Sniper Challenge is a competition to test the skill of Military and Law Enforcement sniper teams and competitive marksmen. It will test their Fitness, Marksmanship, Patience, Determination, and Resourcefulness. It is a thinker's match. It is also as much of a "conference" as it is a competition. Teams from elite federal agencies and combat units around the country will gather to collaborate, network, and share fellowship, training techniques, experiences, and equipment. SPECIAL AWARDS: will be presented to the high Military and high Law Enforcement teams in the LRRP DIVISION. The Match Director and a representative of the Title Sponsor, Presenting Sponsor and the LRRP DIVISION sponsor (if they so choose) will present those team’s Commanding officer with a floating cup similar to the Stanley Cup or America’s Cup. The trophy will be engraved with the winning team members names and kept at the winning team’s unit until the next match. The trophies will be returned to the match to be presented to next years winner. 3. I recently broke the stud that the oversized button screws into. It broke completely out of the feed latch. It looked to be pressesed or staked into the feed latch. Must have been the repeated whacks while shoving it 3 gun barrels. I ordered new parts from Rem. Can anyone provide some insight as to how to properly switch the new part for the old one. I have heard horror stories of wallowing out the hole in the aluminum reciever which then requires blue Loctite or super glue to hold the pin in. I have no time to get it to the gunsmith and certainly dont have the time for Rem to turn it around and have it back before I head to NM for RM3G. Thanks in advance for your suggestions, Joe
  4. OPENB and others...........would you hesitate to run, jump, and climb in a 3Gun match with your Pro Match in a Bladetech Edge holster? Any truth to the theory that it will hold a Pro Match less securely due to the difference in the trigger guard shape? Or is it secure with tension on the flats of the slide and dust cover? A rep from a very popular retailer that serves the USPSA community has reccomended the Bladetech for the Para due to the same shaped trigger guard. Any thought on that? I have seen too many guys go home early for dropping pistols. Most notably 2 guys on the same stage in Vegas. This, after flying across the country and spending a load of $$$$ on hotels and car rentals. I love this pistol but I am sick of cobbling together pieces and parts for holsters and magazines for it. Thank you guys for any and all of your input on holsters and mags. Joe
  5. 762rocstarr, When I look at my Pro Match, the bottom of the dustcover is perfectly square. On the Tactical models the outside edges of the dustcover are milled off more. Thats why I didnt order it right off. Not to seem ungrateful in anyway for the info, but are you sure the "Rock Island Tactical 2011" offering from Bladetech will work? They also have the "RIA 2011 SS Tactical .45" and the "2011 Tactical Hi Cap 9mm". Nothing else for this pistol has been easy to find so being frustrated about this shouldn't surprise me Thank you for the info! Joe
  6. Does anyone know if the fs Pro Match 40 will fit in the Blade Tech DOH for the STI EDGE? Any other suggestions will be most welcome. I know that the DOH/Stingray "sti/svi 2011 5") won't fit.

  8. Got mags from Mecgar and my Grams kits in in the mail yesterday. Waiting on the Dawson basepads and I will be set! Now what about a holster?
  9. Any word on the Match Hotel for the Regional Match in St. George? Thanks in advance, Joe
  10. DougM, I am headed to a local gun show tomorrow for powder. Have been scouring the net for powder. I have plenty of Unique and HS6 and just a little bit of Clays. Was hoping to find WST or Titegroup tomorrow but I dont have my hopes up.
  11. Have an RIA Pro Match in 40 and want to load soft shooting loads for 3 gun. Do the different nose profiles make one of these bullets feed more reliably than the other? The barrel on the Pro Match is ramped. I intend to purchase the Hi-Tek coated 170s or 180s from Missouri Bullet Company. Are there any recommendations for a starting point with either of these bullets? Loads just need to cycle the gun reliably and stay in the A out to 25. No PF to worry about. Thanks in advance for any replies. Joe
  12. I am waiting for those with more $$$ and experience to try every conceivable combination of magazine bodies, guts, springs, and or basepads.....and find one that fits, drops free, and will run. While I wait, I thought I would try to find a holster that fits. Does anyone, who owns one, know what holsters will fit? According to the box, it is an "ARMSCORP PRECISION INTERNATIONAL 1911 A2 CAL 40S&W PISTOL FS-Pro Match" Model #517382. (I scratched my head as well. Everyone states 51738, but sure enough, mine has a "2" at the end. I dont know if this means anything, or it is just a typo) Thanks in advance for any advice. -Joe
  13. Hello all, this is my first post on the forum. I have often used it to solve common problems encountered by others posters. I cant seem to find anyone else encountering this specific problem. So, hello to all, and here goes..... I am loading .223 on my 550B and seating moly coated 77SMKs over 24.2 gr. of Varget in PMC cases. I have two problems that seem to be linked but not sure. 1) a concentric ring around the tip of each bullet. I have not cross sectioned an SMK, but I assume this ring is on the hollow portion of the bullet that has no lead core supporting the copper jacket. The ring appears to be caused by the seating stem "caving in" slightly the nose of the bullet. The ring covers the entire circumference of every bullet. 2) I have swings in bullet seating depth. I set the dies up to produce cartridges that are 2.250" long The bulk of my cartridges are between 2.248" and 2.255". This is within the variance I would expect to see from progressive loading and bullet tip variation. The problem is that about 20% of my cartridges wind up LONGER. many are 2.260 and some up to 2.270. The two appear to be linked............. the longer the cartridge is, is the deeper the ring appears to be. I was told that the reason was because I was short stroking the press. becuase I reload sitting down. My problem with that explanation is that the ring is deeper on the longer bullets indicating more force was applied to the longer cartridges........not less, as would occur in a short stroke. I am hoping that I dont have to switch bullets or powders. But,.............Are both of these symtoms caused by seating this long bullet on a compressed load with enough force to crease the ring where the bullet jacket is unsupported? Are the bullets springing back out after the pressure of the seater stem is relieved? Thanks in advance for any input, Joe
