  1. I use the FCD to remove the flare and produce a light crimp. Has worked quite well for me with multiple well regarded brands* of coated bullets in 40 & 45. Be cautious in setup. *Some oversized bullet styles may not play well with a FCD.
  2. Yes. I have seen it done and thought it was odd. Apparently it must work for some.
  3. I just soak/clean mine in the sink by hand with warm soapy water.
  4. Welcome! Good luck to you this year, Missourigunner.
  5. Welcome to the forum! You should find a wealth of info.
  6. Set screw + above = no problemo
  7. Hold it like any other shotgun. Use 3 dram loads until you finish breaking in your 3000. Run it slightly wet with lube unless it is pretty cold. Take apart & clean the sticky factory lube & residue out of the recoil tube assembly, after you get more rounds through it. Use a good quality LIGHT oil. Polishing the inside of the mag tube can help if you are locking open prematurely. Is that the case?
  8. Some powders you may be able to push it and stay closer to the baseline. Promo will generate less energy in colder weather, though. I try for +5 as a minimum, but +7 is probably sage advice. Advice I will take, too.
  9. Yup. Lead/coated lead bullets do not require as much charge weight per grain...providing properly sized. Plated and especially jacketed do not form to the bore as readily and require higher charge weights to accomplish the same velocity. I honestly think most shooters could tell the difference in recoil impulse on midrange or less lead/coated lead loads. I can. Once driven above moderate muzzle velocities it is harder (for me) to distinguish a difference in recoil between lead and plated or jacketed.
  10. Try a set screw(s) on the current trigger shoe. Make use of what you have. If you screw up you are no worse off, right? Drill top and/or bottom and install. File...then stone for a perfect low drag fit. Take your time.
  11. Welcome to the forums, Projekt01!

    Hello

    Welcome to you, Jmtew!
  14. Hi Rob from Fresno. Welcome to the forum!
  15. Sweet Jesus that is a Lot of Red Dot! Nice. I would construct a 1" thick plywood cabinet to store your powder containers in....away from living areas/bedrooms.
  16. Welcome to you, Roader!
  17. Inner overlaps in front & outer in back. Both setups.
  18. This is the biggest reason, IMO. It is much easier/faster to pick up the next plate. There is the language thing too. Left to right is just normally how we do a lot of things. Can any Farsi or Hebrew reading left handers weigh in on this phenomenon?
  19. By "locked" I believe folks mean keeping the support hand in your two handed grip at the downward limit. Thumb more aligned with forearm. Extend your support hand in a handshake and tilt hand to downward limit... add to firing grip...tense muscles up...."locked wrists."
  20. Clean up is similar. Since you clean often you would be a good Slide-Glide candidate. Try it. I use a light grease like a Slide-Glide Lite on the rails & lugs. Works great on all pistols, but brand new/very tight pistols or during sub 50 degree weather.
  21. Recoil impulse: Yes Cleanliness: Nearly the same. I found Hodgdon's to be a wee bit cleaner at lower charge weights, but both are outstanding. Very minor difference.
  22. Hm...weird. Contaminated or bad primers. Well let us know what happens with those. Must say I am curious.
