Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. My first match was in production, and I was very tentative and focused on not breaking any rules. I didn't do anything very well, but I in hindsight I actually approached the match properly without knowing it - I just shot the targets, since that was the only thing I knew how to do. I ended up in the bottom half of the results, but got about 50% of the winner, who happened to be current Lim10 national champ Casey Reed. I remember just being super thrilled that I didn't get last place.
  2. I use the stock Dillion dies and they've produced consistent results. Once you dial it in, I don't really see the need to be able to make micro adjustments. You just want it to stay put. But I also use a stock 550, so maybe I'm just missing out on all the cool stuff...
  3. I'm getting my next one from L10 Machine. Sounds like it's a Caspian that they start with. Don't have it yet so I can't comment on quality. Very reasonable prices and they're responsive to emails. I've also used a CK and it's fine so far. But not sure they still offer them. Things seem to change quickly with who's selling what.
  4. My friend has an Edge that can compare to anything out there, although he's done a fair bit of work to it. I've also handled new-in-box ones that seemed very..meh. So I think it depends on the individual one you find and what you want to put into it. With a bit of work they can match anything.
  5. Thanks for the help! In some ways it's good to know it's not a gun problem. I was beginning to not trust it during the match, which was a downer. It's certainly possible I was trying/pushing too hard and in doing so, changed how I was gripping. I will order a Rami slide stop and thick grips. I think both could be positive improvements for me.
  6. Hi guys, This is my first post; I've been lurking awhile and appreciate all the helpful advice here. I'd love some advice on a premature slight lock problem that presented itself in a local match yesterday. The gun is a 2014 SP-01 Shadow Custom. The slide would lock open after about 3-4 rounds from the first mag on a stage. It happened on 3 different stages with 2 different mags. The gun has just shy of 3000 rounds through it. I'm using Mec Gar 17 rounders exclusively, and they are all the same age as the gun. My slide stop is the CZ Custom "new" unit with the shorter nub and original CZ75-sized paddle. I've only ever shot new factory ammo in the gun. The ammo last night was basic Federal 115 gr that I've shot many times without issue. My support hand grip on the gun is like most, high and forward. I know the base of my support hand thumb (the soft meaty part) puts pressure the slide stop. I understand that this could cause the slide stop to push up, but I've been competing with a CZ for a year and have never experienced this problem until now, in a match or otherwise. Obviously I would like to keep my grip the same, so I hope there's something I can change in the gun rather than in me. Do I need a new slide stop spring? New mag springs? Thicker grip panels? Was I doing something wrong like not seating the mag hard enough while making ready? I guess there's a first time for everything. I'm considering getting a Rami slide stop so it's less likely to be pushed up by my support hand, assuming that's a drop-in part. Any other ideas?
