  1. Raised mag catch will help some. I ended up re-cutting my Trojan to a 30 degree feed ramp. Will feed with 10, 9, 8 and with a 10lb recoil spring. Smooth as butter. Speaking of mag catches, Every .001 I raised the mag, I got .0015 high hit on the feedramp roughly. Depending on how low it is hitting, you might fix it with this. I never tried the .45 mag route but many people swear by it.
  2. I have experimented with titegroup and 220's quite a bit. These were all .40 loads loaded to 10mm typical lengths. Titegroup xtreme 220's. 1.215 3.8 grains 169 power factor in a 5 inch 1911 S&B primers Titegroup @ 3.6 grains 1.165 length 170 FP in a 5 inch. 1911 Tula primers
  3. Something else to consider, you are thinking your practice is better, but that may warmed up compared to a match where there is no warm up. Keep practicing and shooting matches. Sadly time and practice are the best ways to learn.
  4. How do you find him then lol? Sounds like a ghost who only does stuff for friends.
  5. Are there any really good hard chrome places in central florida? Quality is important since I plan on keeping this gun for a long time. Any first hand experiences would be great. I'm primarily looking for someone in florida but open to others. I am also open to someone who can DLC or some sort of black finish that is extremely durable against holster wear. Cerakote, bluing and hydrodip are out. Have tried all of them. They can hold up to my dryfire schedule. Thanks for any advice.
  6. Jessie would be the one to throw it in a dump bucket. His hair and sunglasses and tan would look perfect as he did it though.
  7. Anyone have 99.5% or better reliability with a hornady bullet feeder and coated bullets? If so, what did you have to do / change? I'm looking at transitioning to coated instead of plated bullets, but I really like my bullet feeder and it is super reliable right now.
  8. Anyone loading a .40 with Xtreme or similar 220 bullets? I'm currently using 3.7 grains of titegroup at 1.215 length. Just wondering if n320 will be softer shooting and cleaner or I should just stick with titegroup.
  9. What happens if you run out of powder on an ammobot? I know the 1050 has an alarm but guessing it keeps going?
  10. What do I need to know before I go from shooting USPSA in SS to IPSC also with a SS rig. I'm using a Trojan with Dawson ice magwell and Tripp corey mags. Any weird rules I should know? It looks like you have to stay within the confines of the shooting area while on the clock? Thank for the help. Considering shooting the IPSC nationals.
  11. You can make a 10 rounder fit the box with a little grinding on the basepad. For limited 10, you don't have that problem. Curious what the issue with your Trojan was? I have one that always nose dived. Added another 3 degrees to the barrel ramp and now feeds anything I feed it.
  12. I found all my plated bullets liked being much closer to the lands. Added .040 in length, (2011 / 1911) and accuracy improved to 1 inch groups at 20 yards. That was my experience. FMJ / HP or Moly are known much more for their accuracy but plated seems to work just fine for USPSA (for me anyways).
  13. How are you releasing the slide? HItting the button or pulling back the slide?
  14. The only difference between the guns part wise is the slide is 3 oz lighter and the frame being stainless is slightly heavier. Very slight though. I reused the grips, springs, mag well and many other parts. Maybe when you spend 3 times as much, it just feels better lol. It's a custom build but I'll get some pics later.
  15. Nope. Just standard round top almost all 1911's have.
  16. I recently got a new blaster and i am really amazed but also perplexed. It weighs less then my Sri Trojan and has a stainless frame instead of carbon. Otherwise it is nearly identical weight wise except for the new gun being tri topped. My splits and also recoil management are light years better on the new gun. Is this really all due to the tri top or am I just enjoying the new "girlfriend" syndrome. I don't care regardless since I love the gun but would like to know for future builds.
  17. I find some speckles of titegroup on my arms at the end of the day.'I switched to a gun with a tighter chamber and now I very rarely see any and my brass stays cleaner. I wouldn't worry about it honestly.
  18. I have a minimum spec chamber on my new 1911. Accuracy was amazing.... Then I had failure to chamber or failure to extract over and over again. Everything passed the Dillon die. 50% failed the barrel drop test. I roll size, and then pass the loaded ammo through a Lee FCD once loaded. I wanted to buy a Hundo gauge but spending 100 dollars to find out it is not close to minimum, makes it kind of pointless. I would open the chamber some but the newfound accuracy is still a novelty to me...Even though not needed for USPSA 99% of the time.
  19. If your bullets are tipping on index, you need more flare put into the case. Also do you have a tube on the die or just the die body? Mine will begin resting bullets on top of the brass instead of inside a little if I don't have at least 8 bullets in the tube. It uses the bullet weight stacked together to push the bullet into the case.
  20. Bring wine or Bourbon or something similar to Production and SS nationals as a walk on. And the entry fee. I bet they get you a slot. I tried to get a slot but being new, I just did the waitlist thing. Or work it as staff which I have done as well.
  21. Just use it under the dity move lol. I have the same problem of wanting to shoot steel. I bought 8-8inch plates with a simple stand, then some 6 inch ones. I also bought some IPSC type mini and pepper poppers. I adjust them so they don't fall and just paint every couple of iterations. Makes for more time shooting and less resetting.
  22. You don't need 3k worth of targets if you plan on taking them to the range everytime. It will take you more time to setup then it will to shoot unless you shoot 500+ rounds. A plate rack would be killer but not very maneuverable. I would look at lightweight or medium sized stuff that you could get 15-20 of.
  23. I still want to try the .40 but even with a 4k gun, if you shoot a lot, the cost adds up. I'm aiming to shoot 40k this year. Price matters a lot for that. With that said, my emphasis has always been ease of reloading, then function then price.
