  1. I've used this one http://www.bearbasin.com/
  2. Here are the pictures, (I hope) happened just south of me on PCH. http://www.latimes.com/news/local/la-ferra...adlines&index=2
  3. If your going to take off the platform get a indexing tool from Dillon to align the platform with the Toolhead dies and primer punch. It should be pretty easy to disassemble and reassemble just by looking at the picture in the manual. The hard part is getting everything back in time as the platform holes have a slight slot which is why you need the tool from Dillon.
  4. have a SL900 and love it! I bought it when they first came out (waited about 6 months for it). I shoot 200-300 rounds a week. If you are going to use it for Trap or Skeet it is a great machine. 1000-1500 rounds a year probably won't justify the cost of the SL900 and you won't develop the "feel" of the machine. If you do go with the Dillon here are a few things that I have learned. Pick one type of hull/powder/wad & Shot combo and stay with it. I use Win AA hulls Clays powder and Duster wads. If you use multiple types or brands of hulls and vary loads you will drive yourself nuts trying to tweak it for every change. It does not like shot sizes larger than 6. They tend to get stuck in the funnel portion of the shot drop tube and usually drop right after the shell plate rotates. Only loads 2 3/4" shells If your familiar with or own a XL650 it is the same basic platform, but most of the small parts do not interchange. If you are going to use anything but a single piece wad (shot cards, buffers, spreaders etc) buy a single stage press. Wad height is critical on the SL900, it is adjusted on the station that inserts the wad, specs are in the manual. If you are going to load multiple gauges, I load 12 & 20, it is a good way to go. About a year or two ago, Dillon replaced the crimp starter and final crimp dies on my 12 ga head with a newer style. The new dies made a tremendous difference in the machine. If you load 20ga a small shim washer between the shell plate and the bolt head will keep the ejector wire from catching on the shell plate and spilling shot from the uncrimped shells. If your shooting trap or skeet the new Bio clay birds are harder to break than the old ones. If you get a chance to walk downrange from a trap you will find a lot of unbroken birds with holes through them. They were hit but didn't break. Those low ball shells can cost you a match.

  6. It's not necessary but if you want to empty the primer system simply take your thumb and cycle the chrome lever on the primer system until it is empty. I adjust the fail safe spring so that it compresses about 1/2 when the operating arm is fully pushed back.
  7. Todays So Cal weather: 76 and sunny with a light ocean breeze. Tomorrow the same, and the next day, and the next day, and the next day, etc. Maybe rain next Sunday. My oldest is going to school in New Hampshire right now. 24 degrees and snow. His biggest educational experience is learning what winter is! Shot 4 rounds of Skeet at Point Mugu in a T-Shirt this morning
  8. Check out this site. cnet.com They have reviews of cameras according to price range. I bought a Panasonic GS250 after reading thier reviews and have been real happy with it (when I can pry it away from my kid.) It's a mini DV with a SD chip for stills. It will allow you to take stills while recording or from a recorded video.
  9. This is from one of my prior posts about lubricating the 650 Try this, it fits over a standard grease gun nozzle. A local parts store should be able to get one for you. I'd get a small grease gun, like the ones they use for boat trailers and lube the press with a Multi-purpose grease such as Valvoline p/n 608. I originally had the Dillon Maint. kit but the lube in the plastic syringe was too hard to inject. This setup works good. http://www.sjdiscounttools.com/lnc5803.html
  10. Not to mention the DROS fees I imagine that if you didn't have a Handgun Safety Certificate you would have to get that too. $50+ to get back your own gun. AAAAGGGUUUUHHHHH!
  11. Here is a link to an Autoweek article on the 6.0 and some additional links within it. I almost bought one but opted to keep my old 84 6.9 with 347000+ on it until the kids get out of college. Still runs great with the Banks Sidewinder on it. If Ford doesn't get it together it will be the first time in 35 years that something other than a Ford will be sitting in my driveway. http://www.autoweek.com/news.cms?newsId=103776
  12. This guy did my Hi Power. Really good work My old Hi power had the front sight Silver soldered on and required major work to replace. http://www.theactionworks.com/Default.htm

    Raw Fish

Eric W +1 It better be cooked News Flash Nemo Found
  16. Another good website to check is cnet.com. I have a Minolta Dimage Z1 which is a good camera. I just bought a Nikon D70s which is an incredible camera, but is up there with the 1911 in price. With Canon, Nikon or Minolta your going to get a good camera. I have had three Olympus Stylus cameras and they have been poor quality with worse service. This has proven to be a good company to deal with and usually has some good prices. http://www.bestpricecameras.com/
  17. The best thing I have found to put the index spring back on is one of the small picks that most tool stores and Harbor Freight sells. The one with the 90 degree end seems to work best. Pull the spring up to the peg that holds it then slide it up with a small screwdriver or another pick. I have had to change two or three of them. I tend to hit them with a wrench when changing the primer punch on my 650. A small parts kit is a must have. Have Dillon send you a index tool so that you get everything back in time. It will save you a lot of time.

    Duster Wads

Been using Blue Dusters for years for trap. Great wad, Great Price
  19. A couple had been debating the purchase of a new auto for weeks. He wanted a new truck. She wanted a fast little sports-like car so she could zip through traffic around town. He would probably have settled on any beat up old truck, but everything she seemed to like was way out of their price range. "Look !" she said. I want something that goes from 0 to 200 in 4 seconds or less and my birthday is coming up. You could surprise me." For her birthday, he bought her a brand new bathroom scale. Services will be at Downing funeral home on Monday the 12th, this will be a closed casket service. Please send your donations to the 'Think Foundation' before you say things to your wife.
  20. With all the sadness and trauma going on in the world at the moment, it is worth reflecting on the death of a very important person, which almost went unnoticed last week. Larry LaPrise, the man who wrote "The Hokey Pokey," died peacefully at age 93. The most traumatic part for his family was getting him into the coffin. They put his left leg in. And then the trouble started...... (Shut up. You know it's funny...)
  21. I forgot to mention eariler that if you grind the side flanks off of the wrench it fits in there a lot better. Go get a cheap one at Kmart or somewhere like that. The nut doesn't have to be that tight so you don't have to worry about quality. Also if you hold the wrench down at a 45 degree angle it gives you better access. As I said in a prior post I'd pay admission to see someone do a major conversion on a 650 in 10 min.
  22. GuildSF4 does it the same way as I do with a open end wrench. There is no easy way it's a PITA and the threads for the punch are not the smoothest so quite often you can't turn the punch in with your fingers. Also be careful of the index ring return spring which is right behind the punch. I've screwed up a couple of them by hitting them with the wrench.
  23. Are you sure that the powder measure bar is making a full and consistent stroke each time it charges the case?
  24. Looks like Southbound I405. 405 & 101 interchange is one of the busiest in the US. Just another day inLA
  25. According to the Poll I started awhile back 61% of us had a gun before we were 18. No bullet holes in me or anything that I did not intend to put a hole in. I was taught how to handle a gun safely and what it, or my dad would do to me if I didn't. (The dad was actually the scarry part at the time) These are the same people that make manufactures put signs on lawnmowers telling you not to stick your hand under the mower when it is running! Well DUH!
