  1. Many of us have wondered. I think that the answer is floating around in the air from a meeting of the rules people and is a throw over from the regular USPSA rules. Can someone shed light????
  2. A reload. You beat the 30 seconds, and if you have another string that goes bad you will be better off than with two 30 second runs.
  3. I really hate those bobbing back plates. They should be outlawed!!!!!!!
  4. I am 77. In local matches with RFRO I generally finish in the top 10 overall. My eyesight is very mature! I don't shake much with the rifle, but pistols are a different story. I have a standard for accuracy called, "One Minute of Paper Plate." I set out a target with a paper plate on it at 17 yards. If I can put 5 shots on the plate quickly, I consider the rifle sighted in. I do the same for USPSA PCC and pistols. I mostly shoot PCC in USPSA, but lately switched to single stack just for fun. I am just not fast enough on my feet now to excel at USPSA (I made Limited A with a .45 high cap back in the early 2000's) to excel anymore. I think I enjoy USPSA more now that I don't care how I do. (That was an official lie - I do like to finish in the top half). That said, I find Steel Challenge to be more fun. I just replaced my right knee. Left knee to follow later in the year. I will still be able to shoot steel even soon after the surgeries, since I don't have to move. In the words of my gunsmith, "The older I am, the better I used to be." Shooting is just so damn much fun!!!!
  5. Minute of VW for some shooters.
  6. OK, take it out of the bag. Take the chamber thing out. Put the bullets in. Don't forget to put one in the chamber. Assume the ready position. Beep. If you are done unload. Pull the trigger. Put the flag thing back in the chamber. Bag it. This is just a warning: quit putting your hand in front of the barrel. The devil is ever present in my head.
  7. I use Taylor's 41. Load to 38 rounds. Never had to do a reload in USPSA except on a classifier. I have run dry a couple of times. They run great. One in a while if I got a little paranoid about a stage I will load 39 - so far they have worked fine with 38.
  8. AI response to me was turn back the clock and be younger!!!
  9. The metal MBX would not work in my CMMG PCC. Same thing. I returned it.
  10. Laser on PCC. Laser off of PCC. Laser on again. Laser now off for good. I would say it helped on one shot in 200 at best, and I just learned to switch shoulders.
  11. Rimfire rifle open. Kidd trigger at 1.5 pounds = never had any problem.
  12. I zero at 17 yards. It is just fine at 35 yards. Beyond that I always supposed that you should call for an air strike. (The devil made me do this )
  13. Goals (Age 76): Get up the morning of the match. Have fun with my friends at the match. Feel like I shot well. Finish in the top 10 in whatever division I am shooting in (but, if I don't, I don't much care). Go home and have a beer. The older I get, the better I used to be!
  14. Please: this should not turn into a thread about what way the ears face. The questions is about the hearing - not the ears.
  15. I have been using blue bullets for a couple of years. I have never had a problem with lead.
  16. Kidd 1.5 in RFRO - in both the main gun and the back up.
  17. I have read many posts regarding the movement in the one SC stage. My personal opinion is why? Only one stage has movement - what does it prove except that someone old or with movement challenges gets a penalty. Given the overwhelming lack of movement in SC, I personally believe that the movement is a carryover form the USPSA background of those who originally got SC going. One option, if keeping movemnt is really that important, put the boxes right next to each other. Then you have to move, but only one step. Personally, I would like to see the movement eliminated completely. Regards, Old Guy Aged 76 (Completly unbiased????)
  18. I tried the Coda and did not like them. I really like the Weber better. Zack remember Rule 26.
  19. I am sure most people could improve by a good margin. The question is how much. There are other factors in play as well. I am 75 years old, and no matter how much I practice, I am not going to jump from a B shooter to a Master. Reflexes and eye sight are just not going to get better over the next 25 years of shooting (I have evey intention of shooting my last match at age 100). It would be fun to have the resources, range, time and ammo to try and make master! I keep in mind, to quote my gunsmith, "The older I get, the better I used to be."
  20. Personally, I would like to see 2 or more (8?) new additional stages. I love steel challenge. If it stays as is, fine, I won't love it any less. That being said, I like variety, which is why I like outlaw matches as well. For me the perfect local match is 3 official stages and two outlaw stages - again, for the variety and change of pace. I personally just think a few more additional stages, particularly scaled for smaller ranges, would be a nice addition for both smaller ranges and variety.
  21. I have seen people turn their headset around so that the sensors are in the front.
