"To me, it does not seem like it is removing the crimp all the way around the primer pocket."... I don't think it has to...In my experience 40% 50% 60 % of the ring smoothed out is enough to accept a primer. I do want to hear your results of this set up... If I can help I'd like to!!

Any competitive shooting in the Portland area?
spitboy replied to spitboy's topic in USPSA/IPSC Shooting
No just cheep black socks, :-) something has got to filter the sand!! -
We are beginning an inflationary cycle here in the US....I don't like rising prices either nor will I get stuck in the "good o' days when powder was..." I buy what's available and shoot it. And live life... No need to buy the next 10 years worth...just 4 pounds here and there

Rod adjustment looks good. Crimp rings have changed a bit from before/after pics...only one way to find out! Hope it works...post picks of the results. Best of luck!

I re-tuned my swaging setup, and increased my swaging depth. Much improved but not perfect. I set the swage depth just a little deeper. Last night I was running 100 / 2.5 minutes 100% clean for 700 rounds straight, and I was even running Tula primers! Thanks for the tip Spitboy! Glad I could be of some help! Happy safe shooting!

spitboy replied to spitboy's topic in 10mm/40 Caliber
Silly question...If we're not really crimping why is the dillon die stamped "crimp die"? -

keeping Portland weird... -
do you think it will be less available since VV was sold to another company? Company sale can sometimes result in supply issues...? I believe it's just distributed by Hodgdon now, not sure that VV was sold.... Vihtavuori was bought last year from Eurenco by the Nammo Group (Lapua's parent company). Supply was heavily disrupted for a while, things are getting better with VV supply since the sale, not worse. I stand corrected. Well, not entirely wrong, it is distributed by Hodgdon and is still challenging to obtain. Seems easier in West coast for some reason...East coast has always been tight on getting supplied

thanks for the link...Eagle creek would be the closest and still pretty far outside PDX. I'm in Vancouver...wishing it was more popular here and closer. -
do you think it will be less available since VV was sold to another company? Company sale can sometimes result in supply issues...? I had orders from two different retailers May 2014, which was what, 5 months after they were bought by Nammo (parent of Lapua)? Then two different orders after that last year and this. So I had better luck 2014+ than I did in 2013 before they were sold, if I've got the timeline correct. great...it sounds easier to get import powder than domestic...is it because domestic is getting loaded into cartridges and sold en mass and not sold as reloading powder? missing some win 231 about now
