Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. I have a Beretta 1301 that is new to me. Fired very little, no wear or other noticeable problems, except it sounds like I have the same problem as some of you. When I load the mag tube and press the small button on the lifter, to advance a shell onto the lifter, it only works about 1/3 of the time. I've read extensively into this problems and have found that people are removing the cartridge latch and deburring/polishing it to make it reliable and feed properly. What mine does, when it does not advance a shell, is click and the follower drops slightly but no shell advances. If you smack the side of the receiver, it sometimes goes ahead and releases one. The action release seems to work fine and does as it should to my knowledge. I have a +5 taccom extension with 16" of spring that sticks out with the end cap off. I don't have a factory cap for the tube, but have removed the extension and installed the taccom cap with the factory spring and it did the same thing. I can't see the old pics in this thread. Can someone guide me on what needs to be polished on the cartridge latch?
  2. I finally pulled the trigger. Been using a Beretta 1201fp for my 3 gunning. I like the fit and function, but the recoil is brutal and it slows me down a bit. I bought a Beretta 1301 comp 24" over the weekend. Found one shipped to my FFL for $966. Definitely the best deal I could find. Got a light modified Briley spectrum extended choke and a +4 Nordic extension tube. So I should be able to go 9 rounds in the tube... Need to find some loc tite...! I'm excited..!

  4. New to the sport of 3 gun. Competed in and won first local match. Looking forward to progressing. Working on selecting and upgrading a shotgun. Pretty happy with my rifle/scope combination and pistol, but my shotgun is a bit of a kicker. I can load it fine and its reliable, but the recoil slows me down a bit. It does shoot well and point good for me though. It's a Beretta 1201 with a 5+1 tube and improved or police improved cylinder bbl, no chokes. For a rifle I'm running a Ruger SR556 piston driven AR wearing a Leupold vxr 1.25x4 with firedot and a set of angled 45 degree irons. For pistol. I have a Glock 34 with a 3.5 ghost connector and appropriate springs and internals and a set of non-tritium Trijicon 3 dot sights. I haven't purchased any gear yet. Still debating on mag cases, belts and shotshell caddies. Looking forward to soaking up some knowledge...
