I hope you didn’t polish that sear beyond the hardened finish. It can cause hammer follow. Your original post says you polish the trigger bar spring already, but you can also manipulate the tension the spring puts on the bar a little bit. Not too much though, you want to make sure the DA resets reliably.

Are y'all having continued success and reliability with the Shadow 2 Kadet Kit? I'm looking to pick one up for some casual NRA bullseye at my pistol club.

This was my first thought as well. Maybe try bending the spring so it puts more upward tension on the bar.

They issue of its practicality aside, it definitely seems to be machined well. I really like the lines. I do question the round trigger guard, as well, but that’s just personal preference. There’s no doubt the quality of the steel itself and the machining are too notch.

115 gr. Blazer Brass shoots pretty accurately, the recoil is extremely manageable (128-130 PF), and it’s cheap at around $.18/rd.

I have CGW's RRK for the Shadow 2. It's a yuuuuuuuuge difference for someone like me.

The RRK permanently sets the trigger back in DA 4-5mm. I had to get the RRK for my stubby toe fingers. But I think it stands to reason that if the starting point is further back, the trigger pull, including the take up, would be less?

So if you want to decrease the long take up and reach of the DA, there are a few solutions. Both CZC and CGW offer their own variation on each of these... GOOD = new disco. BETTER = new disco and race hammer. BEST = new disco, race hammer, and reach reduction kit. Once you have your desired parts, polishing up the action (on your own) will certainly let you "perceive" a shorter, smoother trigger pull. I think the money and effort is worth it.

Thanks for all your opinions and feedback. I've decided to sell the double stack. Ultimately, I don't think it's worth holding onto it, unless I just wanted to have a really nice pistol for the sake of it. I decided that shooting a double stack with a 10 round cap is like driving a Lambo at 45 mph. And I don't want to mess around with non-compliant crap [mags] for out-of-state matches. I have a young family, and it's not worth it for me. It's already SPF, so... I'm going to get a really nice Single Stack pistol instead (?).

I'm still shooting 147g coated (any one will do). Also still have a whole bunch of N320 left. 3.2g does it every time. 1.12"ish.

Might have just been an honest mistake by the person who built that gun at CZ Custom. Use Dawson's sight calculator, buy and install the correct height sight. Or let CZ Custom know what's going on. They might go ahead and send you the right front sight. They're pretty nice guys over there.

I agree. You can upgrade the Shadow 2 yourself, all with drop in parts, and have a fantastic shooter. I'm totally for gaining every advantage you can attain. But honestly, most people who own a car will never reach its top speed....not even a with a mid-sized family sedan.

I don’t think there is any FFL in New Jersey that would be stupid enough to release noncompliant mags with the transfer of a firearm. And as long as I’ve been in New Jersey (three years), I have not heard of any “pre-ban” exception. NJ don’t play that. The purpose of my OP is to hopefully get a sense of whether or not people are finding enjoyment I’m shooting Limited in the states that have a similar mag cap.

I wanted to give Limited a try next year. Even got a nice double stack for it. Kinda sucked having a 15 round cap. Now it’s worse having gone down to 10. Is Limited a viable division in states like NJ? Is it even worth owning a double stack, or should I try SS in 40 cal, with the option to shoot Limited 10, instead?

I don’t really think a CZ worked over by any one of these places, or any others, is going to out shoot the others. They all do amazing work. I would call each place up, have a conversation, and then choose. The options you presented are a win/win/win.

The install on both my Shadow 2s was extremely easy. Whether the upgrade for you is necessary is based on stock bushing in your gun. If yours shoots accurately with the stock part, there’s no need. On the other hand, if you are confident that you are doing your part, and are still not happy with the results, then maybe think about swapping it out. The amount of improvement, again, will be variable based on your guns current performance. For me, whenever CGW comes out with a new component, it’s always a necessity. ?
