  1. They shipped yesterday...so, if I am lucky, they are here Saturday, still not bad....compared to the wait time others report, a week is just perfect!
  2. Odd, I have a similar set up, 2x550 - one with LP for .45 and one SP for 9, 38 spl and 357 mag. Probably have loaded several 10k of rounds on either one, but never had an issue with this pin. The only problem I have from time to time on either machine is an upside down primer, then the show stops and I have to take the priming system apart and remove the upside down primer (or is it down side up???).
  3. Quite pricey, though, about double the price as PD. But, I guess people paying crazy prices now...
  4. Yes, they do...just got the shipping notice!! Probably here second half of the week. I really like that they do not let us wait so long like other companies. They sell what they have, and then ship within a couple of days, when they have sold out, they close down the site for further ordering. This is the only way bullet companies should work.
  5. Ordered 4k from PD yesterday, hope they ship end of next week or so.

I wonder if Carole ever went to the primer store....
  7. It goes a long way...I just finished my second 5 oz spray can. I believe I bought them both some 5-6 years at Cabela's. Couple of spritzes in a zip lock baggie, put maybe 200 9 mm cases in it, close, shake and massage in. Not sure how much I load, but I would guess 1500 rounds/month (45, 9 and 357). So these two cans lasted quite a long time. Ordered two 10 oz today...they should last me very long time.
  8. Thats what a friend told me with rifle ammo he had from them.
  9. Was at the range today and a couple that was shooting as well came over to me to ask me a question. They had a small Ruger revolver in 9 mm and they asked me to help them get the shot cases out of it. I was shooting a revolver, guess this was the reason for them to come over for help. The empty cases would not eject. They had used a Moonclip to hold the five rounds, but after shooting, the shell would not eject out. I always carry a couple of small wooden dowels in my range bag (guess why...), and the man was then able to use one and push the shells with the clip out from the front of the cylinder. I saw they were using steel cased ammo (Wolf). They said it shoot great out of their semis, but this was the first time they used it in the revo. I asked the guy to reload and use brass cased ammo (some of my reloads), and after shooting them, they ejected nice out of the cylinder. Told them not to shoot steel cased ammo out of this gun until they find out what might be wrong, maybe to talk to their gun smith. Now, my theory is that steel shells expand, and not going back in the original shape, while brass might be more flexible and just flex back and can be ejected. Odd , but has anyone here a different explanation for this. I just shoot 357 and 22 lr revolvers, so I am not using moon clips.
  10. I had the same question about a month ago. see here:

    Primers

Brought a mix of spent primers and brass to the local scrap yard this morning, and got $30 for 20 lbs of the mix. The price is $1.50/lbs. here.
  12. You do not need to spend a lot of money for a decent scale. I have this one: https://www.amazon.com/American-Weigh-GEMINI-20-Portable-MilliGram/dp/B0012TDNAM It is very exact. I have access to analytical balances at work and did some testing of a wide range of weights: this little scale was as exact as the analytical lab scales. Mine is placed on a slab of granite which sits on a rubber dampening mat.
  13. So, I do have two 550's and reload now 9 mm, 38 spl, 357 mag and 45 acp. One 550 is reserved for 45 only. I think of getting just a basic 750 without caliber conversion, plus shell plates for 9 and 38/357 and two tool heads plus Powder Check. I have already roller handle, mounts, bullet and loaded case boxes on both 550's. I would just set up the 750 for the three smaller calibers using the add-ons from the one 550 (roller handle, stand etc.). Trying to figure out what else would I need, but looks like I got it all (no need for case feeder - ceiling height restrictions), just like the idea to have an extra station for the powder check for the two longer cases.
  14. I have only experience with a couple SDB's I had years ago and the two 550's I have now. When I saw this press, and saw the price I was just surprised. It raised in my mind the question what might be the difference (like in make quality, materials etc) of this one for some $700 and the new APEX 10 for some $3k. Just wondering... This seems to be quite a price difference...for a few years now I am mulling over to get a press with one more station to install a powder check die, I load a lot of 357 mag and 38 spl, so long cases and not easy to see inside to make sure they have powder (and no double charge either).
  15. The used be called primers, the new name is dodo....

Have you tried the primer store???
  17. I have this one for years. Due to my job, I have access to high end analytical balances and did a lot of weight comparisons. This little one is right on with the high lab scales. One thing everyone must understand: your scale needs a good dampening base. Mine rests on a slab of granite which sits on top of a high density rubbermatt. Any good analytical scale is placed on a special weighing table, so your reloading scale needs this too. For me it makes no sense to spend a lot of money on a scale, but just have it sit on your reloading bench next to your press. https://www.amazon.com/Smart-Weigh-GEM20-Precision-Milligram/dp/B00ESHDGOI/ref=sr_1_17?dchild=1&keywords=small+scales+digital+grain&qid=1613126312&s=kitchen&sr=1-17
  18. Yes, as I said, I am just a plain simple guy who enjoys shooting and rolling my own ammo, don't compete. Using the data that are provided. I do have a chrono somewhere, but it is always a pita to set up in a public range with a lot of others around
  19. When I used TG, I think to remember my load was around 4.1 for 115 and 3.8 for 124; but then, I do not measure anything with a chrono. Just a basic shooter...
  20. I sort my brass normally very simplistic. However, when these came up, I had just bought some used range brass online, and some in there were not known to me. My sorting is pretty simple: all military and stepped ones and Aquila goes into the scrap bin - brass prices are good all known brands go into my load and re-load bin (Federal, Blazer, RP, Starline, WIn etc) all odd ones goes into the "use and lose" bin, I leave them at the range for others to collect (PPU or NNY - the same just the latter one is written in cyrillic, Perfecta, S&B, CBC, and some others).
  21. Was my very first thought, but them the rest would be also written in arabic, funny thing, the 9 is pretty much the same in arabic as we write it.
  22. I just had never seen either one, as a matter of fact, these casing look quite good. Not too long ago I started to look closer at the brass I have, sorting out all stepped ones, and a few odd balls.
  23. I bought some range brass online and was just sorting through it. Some I do not like and they get in the use once and loose bin... There were quite a bit of brass I have never seen before. One does have an inscription "AMMOINC", the other a kind of logo/pictogram reminding me somehow of a deer antler. I attach picture here. The first one does look quite OK. Are these good brass to be used or should they go into the use-once or scrap bin??
  24. especially with new brass you want to lube, these cases are very clean and dry. If you use dry tumbled brass, you have small amounts of dust that helps. I leaned this also when I got new Starline 357 brass. Just give it a spritz of one-shot in a plastic baggie, massage it between your fingers. Big difference!!
  25. Yes, this is the same as any kinetic puller I have used. Don't see a benefit.
