  1. A lot of shooters at the local club have Carlos do their work
  2. Or better yet the "I'm just here to shoot" mixed with "brass guy". One match I saw a guy just hang out in the shade all day, no taping or brassing, just playing on his phone. He would wait for the brassers to drop it off in a tray on a table and simply walk up and dump all the contents in his bucket. It was a local match, so there are no squads, people just kind of go to whatever bay they feel like. I imagine had there been assigned squads, nobody would have put up with that for very long...
  3. I have found that I don't necessarily count shots, but I do know when my plan has gone to crap and making adjustments as best I can. One stage on my last match started with a star, my plan included one reload, but that was based on only having two extra shots for the star. I took 3 or so (who knows, wasn't counting), reloaded on the way to my next array and still hit my reload where I had planned it anyways. I carry 4 mags on me in limited just for reasons like that. Unplanned reloads either due to poor shooting or malfunctions, with the poor shooting being the more likely of the two...
  4. I was there Sunday too, it was indeed hot. I wish my reloads looked that smooth at the beginning of the day lol
  5. Limited D Class (I suck real bad at classifiers, or just in general) Shot it 1,2,3,4,5,6 If I had it to do over again, I would probably save 3,4 for last.... 51pts 8.12 secs 6.2808 HF Calculator says 60%
  6. Used one at a local match for the first time this weekend. I definitely do not have a perfect draw, but the gun released every time with no issue. There is a little bit of side to side play, but when locked the gun is secure and not going anywhere. It is my first race type holster and had a few issues, but that was me getting used to it. I had the lock pushed forward, and when I went to unlock, I pushed back too far and into lock again. Fortunately, this was during load and make ready, so no problem with it on the clock. The lock itself seems like it would be a pain to engage/disengage when you mess with it, but once it is on your belt, it is more natural than you would think...
  7. A guy that shoots at the local club shoots with either hand, but it is more out of necessity that anything. He is in a wheelchair, and as such chooses to move as little as possible. This means that he needs to take shots at certain targets with his weak hand as opposed to re-holstering and changing his position. It seems he shoots equally well with both hands.
  8. Maybe my eyes are messing with me, but could you flip it around to put the ledge further forward, or does it have a weird shape?
  9. I have used a comp-tac with the tall dawson sights with the only issue being due to the extended mag release. I am using a LF Arms release and the mag would drop on my draw. Probably just the way I draw the pistol, but 3 minutes with an exacto knife and pliers solved the problem....
  10. Happened to me this weekend. I always check and noticed that the chamber was empty. Got it loaded up and proceeded to have feed issues on that stage until I changed the mag. The round not chambering should have set off an alarm in my head to use a different mag, but it was the last stage of the day and my brain just didn't make that connection.
  11. I personally would go with the 9L as well. The angled cut at the muzzle just looks cleaner to me, so much so that I had my pro cut the same way.
  12. Haha, the long slide is all I wanted out of the deal.
  13. Hi all having a weird issue with a used M&P Pro 4.25 I just bought. The guy I bought it from had two slides for it, the 4 inch and a 5 inch. When I examined the gun and dry fired it, it worked fine but it has the 5 inch slide. I got it home and put the shorter slide on it, and it failed to function. I had another short slide as well as another 5 inch slide and they all function as expected with one oddity. My 5inch 40 slide works fine but has issue going into battery on new frame, I suspect the recoil spring. Works fine on my other two frames. 5 inch 9 slide works on all frames. 4 inch 9 slide works on all frames. Only hiccup is to teak down gun on new frame, I need to push up on slide release. 4 inch pro slide works on all frames but the new one. If I pull the trigger without cocking the striker, there is a little rearward motion on the slide that is not there with the others. If I put a little rearward pressure on the muzzle, it will function, otherwise, nothing. I compared the two 4 inch strikers and no noticeable difference. The only difference between the four slides is the bum one does not have an apex striker block. I also noticed quite a bit of motion in the trigger assembly when pushing up on the slide lock with the slide off. The trigger return spring would stretch and trigger bar would move. Fresh return spring fixed those issues, but still did not remedy the issue of the striker not releasing. Any ideas? Would like to remedy the issue myself rather than send it in.
  14. Are you guys using these in standard mags, or are you running extensions on them? Just curious if the extension has any affect on the OAL of the rounds you are using
  15. Thanks for the responses! The page did cover the port, for a brief moment, shooter had a hell of a run, so I don't think it was much of an issue. The paint can definitely caused the shooter to stop and watch for a moment, don't recall the results of that particular run, but they did not seem upset by it. I was more or less wondering if either had the right to ask for a re-shoot. Thanks again.
  16. Hi all, two things happened during a club level shoot that mad me wonder if the shooters were entitled to a re-shoot. Neither shooter complained, but each was definitely distracted. The first happened during the classifier (CM99-19). The course description/procedure was stapled to the barrier, and while a shorter open shooter was firing through the port, the gases from the comp caused the page to rip and flutter briefly in front of their sight. The other happened during a stage with three steel poppers at a fairly extreme angle that could only be shot from one particular spot. In the interest of saving time, they left the spray paint behind one of the walls. During the shooter's run, he hit one of the poppers, but a piece of shrapnel splashed off, puncturing the can of spray paint. It went flying into the air spinning and releasing paint. It was quite a show, but the shooter paused to watch what was going on. Neither were due to stage design or equipment failure, but just weird occurrences. I was just wondering for my own knowledge if either shooter could have requested to run the stage again since both had to deal with distractions that were not planned for.
  17. Wouldn't factory 40 loads be Major PF? If you are not going to load your own ammo, and you believe the extra gas will help, why leave points on the table with the 9?
  18. I think that the springs are all interchangeable, just need to use the sear and trigger together
  19. Did it take long for you to get used to the reduction in pre-travel? I suppose over time it sounds much more appealing. Not too long, but it did take some adjusting. Truth be told,it's not like I had years of trigger time with the other kit. Most of my shooting was 1911s so the transition was a bit easier.
  20. For me, absolutely. I dropped the DCAEK in my FS9 and a FSS kit in my Pro. While the Competition kit should carry lighter springs in it, there is a significant amount of take up over the FSS. Absolutely love the FSS, only downside I see to it is that it is a no go for Production
  21. Well, if you now happen to have a 9L slide laying around that you can't use....let me know
  22. Thanks for all the quick responses guys, I now know to be a little more diligent on how things may appear on the score sheet. Other than the scoring hiccup I saw this morning, I was pretty happy overall with the rest of the shoot. Noticed a few mikes I was able to make up and no mental errors, which had plagued me in the past. My major mistakes were the result of me gambling on shots that were on the edge of my ability, but I can live with caluclated risks not paying off versus just having a brain fart. Thanks again fellas.
  23. Okay, cool. I just started shooting local matches in July, so have not been to a level II event. Thanks for the info
  24. Hi all, how would you go about getting a score corrected after a match that you believe to be recorded incorrectly from a paper score sheet? Thankfully this only happened to me during a practice 'fun' match, but being new to the sport I am unsure on the protocol for challenging your official scoring. I believe the problem to be due to the scorekeeper's writing/penmanship, when I completed the stage, I recall hearing my time as being in the 6+ second range, but the official result posting shows it at 10+. If the guy running the clipboard writes his 6 with a straight back and an exaggerated loop, it could certainly look like a 10. If this had been an official shoot I would have heard the score and verified it with my signature and went about my business, and I would not have known about the issue until after the scores were posted. Can you challenge your score after the results have been posted? I am not worried about it in this instance since it was a practice match and I know what I shot, just trying to prepare myself for the instance in which it may occur in a match that counts. Thanks for the any help/advice you can give.
