Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. I have had mine stay up when manually cycling the action (emptying chamber from reload practice). Have never had this occur when actually shooting the gun. When it does happen I just push forward in the bolt forward, carrier drops and bolt closes.
  2. Transformed my SBE2 waterfowl gun into my 3gun shotgun a couple of years ago and haven't looked back. Welded the lifter, opened the port, and put in TTI recoil spring. Keep in mind that this gun had a few hundred rounds of heavy hunting loads before deciding to make the swap but it has been flawless.
  3. I HATE the overlap. One of the reasons I was so excited about this product. I trimmed and smiled the whole time. Still want to fine tune a little but I like it.
  4. I "preordered" this belt and didn't take the time to properly read sizing instructions. I could have sworn it said to order "waist size" and I took for granted that meant "pant size". Completely my fault, I am not casting blame. I was so excited by the idea I got ahead of myself. I have a 33" waist (right now) and ordered a medium. Couldn't even get the ratchet to close on the first serration. I have been using the ELS belt for a couple of years and it seems like I am always between holes (my weight usually fluctuates 15-20 lbs with the seasons). I have no doubt that Mark would have exchanged the belt but I decided to just use the ratchet on my ELS belt (after some modifications). Won't get to use it in a match for a couple of weeks but I am loving it at the range so far. It will also allow me some space when on put on the LBs this winter.
  5. Eric, You just blew my mind. Never took the time to realize the difference. Of course, I am from the south. You actually CAN lean stuff from this forum. Amazing.
  6. You da man. I appreciate you taking the time to make videos like this.
  7. I had the same problem with a Mossberg 930. I would love to tell you that I am a gun genius, disassembled, immediately located the problem, and repaired. Not the case. No idea what was causing the issue. My guess was trash in the trigger group and it just needed to be shot. Took it apart, cleaned it well. Put 100 rounds through it. It didn't malfunction as much but still had issues. Disassembled again, cleaned, lubed. Put another 100 rounds through it. Only a couple of malfunctions. Disassembled, cleaned, lubed. Haven't had another malfunction in prob 2000 rounds. Prob not the answer you were looking for but mine just needed some TLC and trigger time.
  8. I picked up the Salomon Speedcross 3 Trail running shoe from Amazon. Absolutely love them, they have taken a beating and traction is excellent.
  9. I ordered the ACE stock and buffer tube in a "combo package". Long story short, I didn't have much faith in the quality of the buffer tube included. Picked up a new DPMS tube and the stock slid on no problem.
  10. Tried the tube in the freezer. It helped get the stock about 3.5" on the tube before it locked up so tight I had to drive it off with a block of wood and hammer. Now I am concerned if I get the thing on I will never get it off. Any idea what the OD of the tube is supposed to be?
  11. I am attempting to replace my adjustable Buttstock to a fixed. I purchased an Ace ARF-X skeleton stock from a distributor that also included an A2 buffer tube, rifle buffer, and spring. After removing the old buffer tube and installing the new A2 tube I can't get the Ace stock to slide over the tube. It will slide on approx 2" then it gets so tight it takes two men to get it apart. From the YouTube videos I have seen it looks like the stock should slide over the tube no problem. The only complaints I have seen is difficulty getting on the foam tube. I assume it is most likely an issue with the A2 tube. No idea on brand I can't find markings anywhere on it. I assume that the Mil-Spec vs Commercial issue is only with the M4 type tubes but let me know if I am wrong. I appreciate any advice you guys can give me.
  12. Great video, I appreciate you taking the time to do it. I've got the general idea down, it's the details that create fluid movement and speed. Thanks again
  13. I am as far from an expert as you can get. I am trying to learn as I go. It sounds like I just misunderstood the use of the mod. So if "bolt lightening" doesn't aid in shooting low power rounds (if I am understanding correctly it would actually do the opposite). The purpose is to speed up the cycle time of the bolt? If that assumption is correct I don't think it is something I need. My trigger finger and my brain isn't that fast. Am I making sense?
  14. I am about to send my SBE2 to C-Rums to have carrier welded, port opened, etc. I am attempting to make this my new 3Gun shotgun and I am concerned with reliably cycling low power rounds. I know that Jeff offers "bolt lightening" and it is my understanding that this will help in cycling the low power stuff. I primarily use the AA X-tra Light Target Loads (7-1/2 shot, 1 oz, 2-3/4 dram, 1180 FPS). I have owned this gun for a couple of years and originally purchased for Dove and Ducks. Gun has prob had less than 250 rounds through it (I wouldn't consider it "broken-in"). Does anyone have a SBE2 that has had the bolt lightened and are you pleased with the results? If your SBE2 runs everything and is completely stock, how many rounds did it take to "break-in" until low power rounds ran reliably? If you replaced the recoil spring instead of lightening the bolt and it worked/or didn't work, let me know. Just looking for opinions and experiences from anyone who has been here before or that does these types of mods for a living. I am sure some of you will think, "why bother just get an M2 or Versamax or (Fill in the blank) and be done with it". Here are a few of the reasons for wanting to use the SBE: #1 It is bought and paid for. I am hoping to spend another $400-$500 and be done. #2 I am a lefty and this Benelli is a left handed version. I actually see the benefit of a lefty shooting a right handed gun (I shot trap with a right handed berretta for years) but have come to enjoy shotguns that don't throw the hulls and expelled gases in your face. My AR is also left-handed. #3 I am currently using the load two method and practicing on the quad load. The larger loading port on 3-1/2" SBE looks huge compared to the one on my 930. #4 It points great for me and I have always shot it really well. I have been using a Mossberg 930 for the past couple of years. Couldn't find a JM Pro at the time so found a stock 930 at Walmart, replaced barrel, added mag tube, carrier welded, port opened, etc. After some break-in and cleaning I got it to shoot low power shotshells and slugs reliably. Still am using the Mossberg and plan on keeping it for a back-up.
