  1. The 75 Shadow is based on the 75 SA. It has the same grip, beaver tail, and slide profile as the SP-01. The difference is the dust cover. When I picked up my 75 shadow, it was because the SP-01 didn't make IDPA weight out of the box. This has since changed. They both are now IDPA legal if you buy the Shadow version as it won't have the FPB.
  2. The springer pads sold by CGW apparently fit both per web page. Not sure if same applies to all of them. Sent from my SM-G935T using Tapatalk
  3. The more I think about it I guess the risk for injury is somewhat low. With the light hammer spring if you slip out of the half cocked position it might not even fire off whereas if you slip at the full cock position it's very unlikely to hurt your hand. I guess as someone with a one-year-old my risk tolerance is still somewhat low. Also when I was 14 I slipped while cocking a trap throwing machine and it swung around and hit me in the leg. This led to some stitches and a tetanus shot. I guess what I'm saying is kids tend to be much more likely to make mistakes even the most careful. Sent from my SM-G935T using Tapatalk
  4. I don't think it's embarrassment he's worried about. At least that's not what I worry aboyt. I'd imagine that slipping off the hammer while decocking could potentially cause a bad hand injury. Sent from my SM-G935T using Tapatalk
  5. You can get a decocker version and fix it up nice. Sent from my SM-G935T using Tapatalk

    Mag break for CZ SP01

Ahh. I have the 75 shadow (short dust cover) with the SA frame. The brake in mine was flexible with a tongue into the main spring plug. I wonder if mine has the slot or just the sp01 shadows. Sent from my SM-G935T using Tapatalk

    Mag break for CZ SP01

Looks like both will work. I'm not seeing how they stay put from those pictures but the stainless one looks to be thicker with less flex. To add confusion, you could also look at Cajun gun works. I just got the aluminum mag brake (made by springer precision) and it stays put by having the grip screws thread in. Sent from my SM-G935T using Tapatalk

    CZ Compact magwell

CZC claims magwell fits in the box, but is the box different width for CCP? The springer wells attach to the bottom of the grip. This means you don't need to file down the grip. They have and IDPA and USPSA version. Not sure on actual width or height. Sent from my SM-G935T using Tapatalk
  9. I'd be interested. Sent from my SM-G935T using Tapatalk
  10. You just don't see many people with the short dust covers competing. It's hard to know if it is a competitive advantage thing, person preference thing, or just what is available/popular. Sent from my SM-G935T using Tapatalk
  11. Thanks for the input. It's what I was thinking and leaning toward anyway. It's also fun to have something a bit different. Sent from my SM-G935T using Tapatalk
  12. Yeah, now that I reread it, it does seem funny. I was thinking the heavier gun would handle the reciprocating mass better, but I suppose polymer guns do just fine. Time to get some lighter springs... Sent from my SM-G935T using Tapatalk
  13. I currently have a CZ 75 shadow, short dust cover. I like the gun and admittedly relatively new to competitive shooting. I originally got it for IDPA due to weight. I'm now working on moving to 3 gun. As I'm getting better I'm noticing the muzzle dip when the slide returns to be the bigger control issue for me than the flip. I guess I'm wondering if a full dust cover on an SP-01, tac sport, or shadow 2 would be better balanced or if this is something I can adjust to with lighter recoil spring and practice. I went to a 3 gun skills course here and I was one of two people in my group of twelve that wasn't shooting a striker... the instructors had 2011s... so there isn't much for me to shoot with for comparisson. I guess I'm fishing for thoughts from people that have shot both types. Thanks in advance. I should mention that part of my motivation is that I want to get a retention holster, base pads, and some other things and don't want to buy all that if I'm going to be selling it soon down the road. Also, I like to tinker with things and would like to tinker with the gun I end up keeping.
  14. One would think that a well designed receiver/chamber would make a jam unlikely. Ive seen reports of people having jams when the gun is on its side. This is most likely manufacturer specific, although I don't know which.
  15. As mentioned keeps she'll centered for feeding. The Vinci carrier had a good idea for a fix that left the fork.
  16. This thread was helpful for me in that I realized that anything will work. I'm likely never going to be a top competitor. I shouldered a bunch of guns and ended up with a Vinci. Need to remove some polymer from the lower reciever to make loading easier but after an RCI tube this thing is ready to go. With the Speedbolt I can shoot low power loads (was shooting low power 1 oz loads and reduces recoil slugs after only 10 full power rounds. Going to try some 7/8 oz next.) and the extended chokes will be nice for 3 gun and sporting clays as there is a shotgun club close to my home.
  17. I'll remain intersted. In the end when I was shouldering various guns I ended up liking the Vinci the most and found one with the speedbolt and extended chokes. It was shooting 1 oz loads before it was really broken in. I did shoot some heavy hunting loads I had around... glad of don't need to do that a lot.
  18. That's good to hear it worked well... The only thing I'm interested to see in person is the new oversized trigger guard. I wonder if it would affect loading. Sent from my SM-G935T using Tapatalk
  19. I'm looking to get started in 3gun this year. I've two of the guns. I know people say bring what you have, but my only shotgun is an over under with fixed chokes. Anyway, the new SX4 looks like it may be a good option. I've only been able to see one or two people comment on the old SX3 for 3gun. It looks like the new gun would need tube and port opening to be ready. At $400 less than the 1301, it provides for a lot of practice ammo. (Much less than an M2). I like the idea of a 26" or 28" anyway as I feel I could get other uses out of it if I wanted. I guess I'm wondering if there are any sx3 people who still find that to be a good gun. Anyone that has handled an sx4 it would also be nice to hear from.
  20. I'm looking at getting into shooting handguns and was directed here by a local dealer to say hi and look around. I live in St Paul, MN. I'd like to try some competition as I improve. Any suggestions about where to start looking/shooting would be great. Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk
  21. Let me start off by saying that I'm brand new to pistol shooting. Grew up with long guns, mostly trap shooting. I took some time off and now in my 30's looking at doing pistol shooting for fun and possibly competition. I've met some cool people at the range so far and some entry fees locally are about the cost of a range outing so I figure, why not... Anyway, so I've shot pistols all of two times. The first was with a .22 LR S&W revolver and then I rented some guns. I got an XDs in 9mm due to a special at my range. I also rented a P-09 and SP-01 tactical. I know the CZs I was using white box Federal Ammo (range supplied). The XD ammo came in a baggie as it was a special deal, but I believe it was the same ammo. I like the feel of the CZs in my hands and the difference in muzzle flip is very noticeable. Also, my wife may shoot with me and the CZ will likely be soft enough for her to enjoy at first. The XD actually bruised my right middle finger with the trigger guard... Anyway, here are my targets. Again, this is my second time shooting pistols so I'm sure I'll get better... The XD target. The two to the low left were at about 7m for my first two shots. The two to the right were the next two at the same distance trying to compensate. The rest in and near the middle were a mix of 7m and 10m The group near the top was me pushing out to 15mg. I was aiming for the "8". It shot low but VERY consistent. That is 6 rounds. The SP-01 at 15m The P-09 at 15m For size reference, the width "9" oval on the XD target is about the same as the diameter of the black area of the CZ targets. Does this mean that the CZs just aren't quite right for me? Or will I likely be able to tighten the groups as I learn? My feeling is that the CZ's are just bigger and I have a bit more "sway" in the gun than I did with the lightweight XDs. My thought is that with time and practice this will decrease. The other thought is that perhaps the grip is just bigger on the CZ's so I am getting some rotation with the trigger pull. Not sure if that will go away with practice. What do you guys think?
  22. Excellent. Thanks for the responses. I'll be back when I start the upgrading. Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk
  23. Thanks for that information. The guy is maybe not going to sell it now anyway. I guess I have a different question then rather than starting a new topic. What do you guys think of the 85 combat vs sp01? I cannot find the 85 to shoot, but from what I read it would already have a short reset and it comes with adjustable sights. I feel like 16 round mags would be plenty for me and they r7n about the same cost. Is there a negative to the 85 combat that I'm missing? Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk
  24. I'm brand new into handgun shooting and loving it so far. I've been renting various guns and love the handling of the CZ. I actually shot an XD better, but trigger guard banged up my knuckle and it just didn't feel as good to shoot as the big steel SP-01. Anyway, I've been looking to pick one up and came across someone selling one. My question is, assuming that a gun has been well maintained, where is 2k rounds in the life of the gun? I feel that it is low but wanted to check here. I also wanted to post here as a new user. I've been doing a bunch of research and find myself back on these forums a lot. Thanks
