    Which 320 for CO?

I did not realize that the max uses a proprietary optic cut. I don't like that.

    Which 320 for CO?

I've used a M&P CORE for about 6 years now and have done really well with it. I've won a lot of smaller matches with 40 or less shooters. But moving up to the bigger matches 60+ shooters I'm somewhere in the top 10. There's a bunch at the top using heavy weight guns. I think the extra weight of P320 tungsten frame and *thumb rest [generic]* would help me a lot. I'm trying to shave off 3+ seconds off my total match time. So maybe .5-1 sec off per stage. I don't know much about the 320's. Should I get and X5 Legion or DH3 or build it myself? Also, I don't like the trigger too much but I'm sure that can be improved. I want a heavy frame, lighter slide, and the lowest optic mount possible with a RMR cut and a magwell. Also, I would also get 3 140mm mags and one open mag to start with. Trying to stay under $1500 and used is ok.
  3. I ordered my 1st BA barrel in early October to rebuild my 3gun. The barrel I received was trash. Bore scope showed what looked like heavy pitting and a crooked throat. There was no rust inside. I contacted them on the 10/8 and they asked for pictures which I sent that day. It took till the 12th to get an RMA. I sent FedEx 2day. I checked a week later, nothing. They told me they received on the 21st. Today 11/2 they still haven't looked at it. I was stoked at 1st for the all the help they provided before the sale answering every question and very fast shipping. I got it in less than 48 hours. Now I need help and they are quiet. I've waited 3 weeks to post anything negative. I have since ordered another barrel from another company. The inspection would only take 2 minutes including the time to set up the bore scope. The defect is that obvious. I'm sure everyone puts out a lemon every now and then but the service I got before and after has me disappointed.
  4. I will be getting a Ultradyne comp either a Apollo S or Mercury. They were very helpful, good service and offered a large discount.
  5. I'm a peasant making peasant wages. I went with the BA 18" SPR. I have other rifles that are 16" that I could press into competition if I had too. I will probably reuse the handguard I have for now. I want to keep the brake price down to about $120 or less. I will let you guys know how the barrel shoots when I get it together and have time to test some loads.
  6. I have a 16" Criterion CORE in another rifle. I don't have a lot of rounds though it yet but it hasn't shown itself to be spectacular. Most loads in the 2 MOA range. It doesn't like my 62gr match BTHP, Norma TAC 55gr FMJ or Hornady 55gr FMJ over 25gr H335. Those loads shoot well in my other AR-15s. What do you guys think about Ballistic advantage barrels? I might give Criterion another shot with their Nitride 16" hybrid.
  7. Thanks for the info. I have 2 light weight slick side uppers i would like to use but booth are a loose fit. One is an aero prec. I have a BCM upper also but seems dumb using it with a JP low mass bcg that has no notches. Any weight i can save would be nice. Thinking of changing my scope mount to a aero prec ultra lite to save 3 oz. My current mount is heavy about 8 oz. I cant afford a new gen2 razor and my PST is alot heavier than my last scope. What barrels out there in the $300 2lbs range or less would you guys recommend beside a WOA? Id have to wait till next season for one of those.
  8. My state of the art 3 gun rifle from 6 years ago isnt so state of the art now. Cant say that it has held me back any but it needs a new barrel and muzzle brake due to wear and damage. My rifle is 18" w rifle length gas, JP 2 port brake, adj gas, JP low mass bcg, ace stock, tac com buffer, carbon fiber tube from that era with a PST gen II 1x6. I would like to get a WOA 18" but hear 18" is old school and they are 4-5 months back order anyways. I know i want something about 2lbs or less, rifle length gas and doesn't lose much if any accuracy when it gets hot. Cost $300 or less, 1 moa with match ammo 2 moa with m193 ball is the goal. No need for a .5 moa barrel just consistant and not too picky. My match ammo changes often because of cost and availability. My round count for a rifle stage are about 40 or so with targets out to 450 yards. 10-12" plates at 300 not unsual for the long range stage. Does anyone make a slim diameter 15" carbon fiber rail? Mine is large like the old dpms/clark style. Doesnt get hot but i cant get a firm grip on it. The mid west/bcm rails get too hot too fast for me and i dont want wear gloves. Lastly I think a 3 or 4 port brake would be better than the old 2 port JP but i dont want anything heavy like over 4oz or any with rear facing gills. My ears are more important than the extra recoil reduction those provide. Also does green loctite around the barrel in loose upper work as well as tight thermo fit barrel and upper? If not who elese makes tight fitting uppers beside BCM? Preferably one that is a slick side. Thanks for all the suggestions.
  9. Thanks for the advice. I'm going to shy away from the 1-8 or higher variables. The high dollar ones I've seen ($2K+) that go up to 1-8 1-10 look terrible to me. Eye box was so small at higher magnification that it was unusable for any quick shooting especial from weird positions. Also their 1X seemed off. Anybody actually use the Bushnell 1-6.5 for 3 gun here? Its out of my price range but I might still have a Bushnell discount voucher.
  10. Hi all, I'm sure this topic has been covered a 1000 times but I'm not finding it in my search. I'm looking to spend about $550 street discount price. I Shoot out to 400 yards on 10-12" plates. I need a true 1:1 on the low end. I need capped turrets and preferably a BDC. It needs to hold zero as I drop my guns in the dump barrels. I don't baby them. Most shops in my area don't have anything other than cheap strike eagles or high end NF for me to look at. My research leads me to the Vortex Viper PST Gen2 1-6 and Athalon Midas 1-6. Of course I cant find one to look through or try. Is there anything else that has a good reputation that I'm missing? BTW I have a Burris XTR2 1-5. I like the BDC, holds zero, glass is ok. Don't like the weight, turrets keep getting knocked off zero, and illumination has gone out twice. I'm guessing not much can be done about the weight. 20-22 oz seem standard on 1-6. Please don't recommend a Razor Gen 2 or something in that class. I cant afford it. I looked at a Burris Rt-6. It looked ok but I don't trust the low price.
  11. A little off topic, I work with a supervisor of the now out of buisness SOG armory, I had to explain to him how to check headspace on an ar15. He said the never did that there. They were one of these smaller ar15 companies. I'm sure some one here has seen one, they had a little skull with beret logo on their lowers.
  12. Update, some 400 rounds or so later, I'm having problems with reset on my timney trigger. I think it's all the carbon fouling in the lower. They do not work well with surpressor eaither. Gets too dirty in the lower. I've tried in a lone wolf lower and qc10 lower.
  13. I had one. Port was .101". Sent it back because barrel od was .748" with a .750 gas block. If you run a low mass carrier and buffer system, you could go down to a .095" gas port.
  14. I tried 2 geiselee ssa 2 stage. Both had reset problems about 1-2 times every 50 rounds. Tried a geiselee select fire trigger, no problems. I'm using a timney single stage 3.5 lbs, seems to work fine but a little light for all the bolt bounce the blow back 9mm makes. I'd gladly pay $1500 for the sig mpx if it actual works. It is a locked breach action. Felt recoil would be half that of a Blow back 9mm. 9mm blow backs created a lot of felt recoil compared to .223 with a good muzzle brake. I'd say felt recoil is close to a 6.8 or 7.62x39. Not terrible but you won't be able to keep pace with A class or better shooter in 3 gun. I use my 9mm ar 15 for cheap practice and steel plates that are meant for pistol only.
  15. Thanks, makes sense. Thanks to everyone for the helpful insight. Save me $$$$ from buying a bunch of different scopes finding out later something isn't right.
  16. What did you not like about the bushnell tactical 1-6.5? I thought it would be better than the Burris xtr2 1-5. Although the Burris would seem to fit my needs. Absolutely no on any 1.5x scopes. Been shooting 2 eyes open pistol for 20 years. Can't stand the slight magnification in one eye over the other.
  17. What about a bushnell elite tactical 1-6.5x? A guy wants to sell me used one for $650.
  18. We'll it looks like a vortex pst 1-4x or a Burris xtr II 1-5x. I like the reticle much better on the XTR but I can get the vortex about $250 cheaper. But honestly I have never looked thru either scope. The vortex ranging mils or moa seems useless for three gun.
  19. I started shooting 3 gun about 4 years ago. Then I moved and took a break not being able to find a club to shoot at. At the time I used an eotech and was able to do very well with it. Most shots were 15-150 yards. Now I found new places to shoot and finding some clubs shooting out 400 yards on 12" plates. I just can't hit them with out magnification especially when the paint has been shot off. I need a scope with true 1x magnification without distortion and bright daytime illumination for 90% of my shooting and at least 4x for 200+ yards on smaller targets 8-12" in diameter. I prefer something with bdc for quick hold over and shoot. Please do not recommend tac30, mtac, Swarovski or vortex hd 2. I don't like the reticals on the tac30 or mtac. There are too course and the other 2 scopes are way out of my price range. I have a max of $700 to spend. Btw I can get a pretty good deal on a vortex pst and a weaver tactical 1-5 but my budget is a couple of hundred more so I was thinking I might be able to get something better.
  20. Been a pistol competitor for 19 years. Got into 3 gun about few years ago and was doing very well but move here and been out of it a couple of years. Got the guns, shoot pretty well but my gear is very dated. Mixture of old ipsc, idpa, ccw stuff and California custom shell carriers that I don't like. My belt is an old safari land that does fit so well anymore. Looking for help in a new rig and any place that might have matches on Sundays.
