  1. I carry lightweight officer 1911 in both 9mm and 45 at times and don't feel I am under gunned. I carry a spare mag because of the limited capacity but that isn't a big deal. I shot 1911 and 2011 pistols in uspsa so the safety wasn't a problem. I like the feel and shoot the 1911 platform because they fit me so well and in a bad conceal carry situation, I think those attributes outweigh the extra capacity of the plastic guns. Tim

    S2 no decocker

I don't understand why the rules don't allow for you to start with the hammer back and safety engaged. Many instructors teach that lowering the hammer is an ad waiting to happen and when lowering the hammer all the way down you risk a discharge if the gun is dropped. From a safety standpoint I think they need to look at changing this rule. If the firearm was designed to use a manual safety then that is the safest way to carry and use the weapon. I don't see any advantage for the shooter having to disengage the safety and it would be safer for everyone. Tim
  3. I use cci mini mags but have had good results with remington golden bullets in my Kimber conversion. A glock conversion listed the golden bullets as the prefered ammo. Tim
  4. Hello,

How old is the pistol and do you know how many rounds have been shot thru it?

     Thanks,

    Tim

it was made in 06 according to the SN. I've shot it probably 14 to 1500 rounds with the recommended CCI Standard velocity ammo. Pictures speak for themselves. If it's not what I say it is your welcome to send it back. Don't know what else to say.

    which cz

Hello, Which model cz fits like a 1911 in the hand? I shoot single stack and would like something that feels similar to what I am used to. I saw the shadow 2 OR that could be used for limited and carry optic, how would it compare to the feel of a 1911? Thanks, Tim
  6. I like the S&A for the same reason as Aircooled6racer, better feel of my grip. I do sometimes carry my 1911 and I like the smaller profile of the S&A for conceal carry.
  7. I have used bayou bullets and vv 330 powder in a 16 inch barrel and haven't noticed any leading.
  8. average Joe, Diversity is fun and you're having fun. Tim
  9. Average Joe, We have the same inventory: 2 sti 2011, 9mm and 40 2 sti uspsa, 9mm and 40 3 sti lawman, all 45s 1 sti escort, 9mm 2 Kimber, 9mm and 45 I'm getting ready for the zombies. lol Tim
  10. Better watch, those 1911s can become addicting.
  11. I talked to the guy about his gun today and he said it is a springfield xd. He has a gunsmith looking it over to see if it was a double charge or if it fired out of battery . I don't know if he will be able to tell what happened. Tim
  12. Hperea, I have 3 Lawman and 2 uspsa single stack models that are older guns. I think they are built to tighter tolerances than the newer guns. If you look around you can still find Trojans and Lawman pistols used at reasonable prices. I got the Lawman guns because they are forged frames but I don't think you can go wrong with cast frame gun. Unfortunately, to stay competitive companies cut corners and produce items of less quality and always seem to want more money. Just the world we live in today. Tim
  13. I have 8 sti- pistols and they have all been great for the money. Six are single stacks and two are edges and they have all run flawlessly. I'm not scaring any of the good shooters but that isn't because of the pistols. I had a rear sight problem with one of the edge pistols and they replaced the sight, went thru the gun and returned it in 11 days. I trust one of the 1911 pistols enough to carry it daily as a conceal carry. The older ones were great guns, I can't say about the new ones. Tim
  14. I have been handloading for 55+ years and after looking at Navadazielmiesters post I'm glad I still have all my fingers and Nose. Tim
  15. Bayou bullets sold their 180 grain 40 cal. with a lube groove and I see they now have replaced them with a bullet with no groove, I have shot both bullets and see no difference in accuracy and without the groove you can load longer and not worry about the groove affecting feeding, Tim
  16. Being from the Midwest and the cold weather you can use your oven and when you're done open the oven door and heat the house while the oven cools down, Makes the kitchen real cozy. Tim
  17. Living in the mountains, I dry them in the oven at 170 degrees for 30 minutes in the winter and on a picnic table in the sun on a cookie sheet during summer months. Tim
  18. Thanks for the info. I didn't see the pistol but the guys who did said it was toast. I think it was an M&P but will have to check and see next week when he comes to the match. Thanks again, Tim
  19. Hello, Was wondering if you can double charge a 9mm case with titegroup and still seat a 124 grain bullet. A shooter blew up a pistol and is thinking he doubled the charge of titegroup. I have never checked to see how much a 9mm case will hold and still let you seat the bullet. Just curious. Tim
  20. Hello, In my 8 twist barrel, I had the best luck with rl-15 and h-322 and varget was pretty good also. I tried some imr 4320 and it was shooting pretty good. I did find that my gun wasn't finnicky about powder as many different powders shoot under an inch. I was shooting a sako varmint rifle with heavy barrel and not an ar platform, Tim
  21. If you like leather, Look at relentless tactical, great belt at a good price and they stand behind their products
  22. I use a midway comp. bag and a wagon. Works great for uspsa Limited and pcc
  23. I use the wilderness because of the infinite adjustment. If riding in a car, you can loosen the belt and just pull it a little tighter when you get out. Since there are no holes, you have the right size no matter what gun and holster you decide to carry. Tim
  24. Hello,. I have 9, 40 and 45 1911s and enjoy shooting them all but if a match has a lot of steel I shoot the 9mm because a hit is an alpha no matter what cal. you are shooting. On paper I think major is a factor if you aren't shooting a high percentage of alphas. The advantage of the 40 is that you can load major or minor depending on the matches you want to shoot. I think zzt made a great point about never loading flat footed, reading the course and when you reload make a bigger difference than cal. I should say that I'm a c shooter and speed isn't part of my game anymore and the matches I shoot are practice matches and they send the stages out before the match so I can choose the gun based on the stages. I think I shoot major 75% of the time because I like those big holes that I can see easily on paper. I think the 40 is nice because you can load light and shoot minor if you want to shoot a steel match or major for uspsa. If you buy a 9 you are locked into minor and a 45 locks you into major. With a 40 you can shoot either with one gun. Tim
