Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. Take your time at first. Learn to feel what is going on. You do need to do a complete cycle up and down don't short the stroke in either direction.or you will have issues. congrats
  2. Good one! I remember when I first got my 650 several years ago. Reloading room was not finished yet. Trying to resist using it till everything was ready. Wife comes home one day from whatever and finds the press clamped to her kitchen counter. But Honey I needed to make sure it works. Boy did I get some looks. Ya she loves me.
  3. During the hot summer days I lay them out on screened trays. Couple hours and there to hot to hold. During the winter I put them on the screened trays and load them up in a Large dehydrator that I got years back from cabelas ( think dorm room fridge for size). I have only been wet tumbling for the last year. The 25 years Before that it was crushed cob and walnut. Lemi shine and soap go a long way. The reason I use liquid laundry soap is simple not really much suds. Why I switched to wet tumbling. No lead dust in the air. Sure a couple of fabric sheets help but there is still dust. I remember how dirty my hands would get cleaning and sifting the brass. That is a thing of the past. Really it just comes down to personal preference both ways work well. Some don't want to deal with the dust and some don't want to deal with the drying.
  4. I bought the small cement mixer On sale plus a 30 % discount with a two year warranty for $150. If your looking to just clean the outside of the brass just use liquid laundry soap and lemi shine. If you want inside and outside get the pins as well. Do not install the paddles when assembling the mixer. I wash 2500 pcs of 5.56 at a time no problems at all. Have cleaned about 40k without any issues.
  5. Looks like I need to make a new attachment for my drill press. Love the simplicity of it. Am I correct in assuming that the plastic block is along the lines of HDPE?
  6. I have all but the wall wart (go figure) here now. Debating if I want to cut up the collator housing, or make a mount to connect the counter to the collator arm or even fab something else. I do like the looks of mounting it in the bottom of the collator for thoughs of use who use the collator on different machines . All in one so to speak. Just not to keen on the angle with it facing down. Brassoholic13 - after using yours for some time now would you have change the angle/mount or do it the same?
  7. I must say you have made a excellent tumbler bigdawg. I remember seeing this years ago. Now I finally think I have out grown my two Frankford vibration tumblers and would like to step it up. I'm looking to do two large 8" drums so I can run a total of 3k 5.56 at a crack when needed. I have the 50 lbs of .047 pins on order. But I do have several questons before I order the rest. 1 - On the 8" pvc assuming that you used DWV pipe like on the 6" model would you cut it at 16.75" length to do the 25 lb SS media to 22 lbs brass or would you choose a different length? 2 - Any issues using a 1/3hp A.O.SMITH to run both tumblers at once? 3 - On the 8" to 6" reducer part I have heard several people say the 6" flexable cap will not fit over there reducer. Could you please hook me up so to speak on where and which one to buy? I dont really want to find out the hard way. This looks like a fun little build. Can't wait to get the rest of the parts and start this one.
