  1. Sorry to resurrect this post, but i'm hoping someone can help me with a 92x safety question. I recently purchased the 92x Carry Optics model. It came with super small safeties.(Image attached) I'm assuming this was a change from the wider safeties that were originally coming on the 92x's because of the "not fitting in the box" issue. I got my hands on an older 92x yesterday and it had safeties that were larger than mine, and I want them. I tried ordering the XL safeties from Beretta and they are massive. Much bigger than I would like. Link here. https://www.beretta.com/en-us/gun-accessories/handguns/kits-parts/beretta-92x-series-safety-assembly-xl/ Would anyone be able to tell me if these "Small" safeties available on Beretta's website are the ones that came on the 92x's originally? 2. Thank you for this information! One of the clubs I shoot at monthly uses this timer. I will have to check them out at the next match.
  3. In this case, the shooter did not hit approve. "Suck it up" is not a valid response to an RO/Scorekeeper not doing their job correctly. That timer allows you to review a recorded time, even after running a whole other string??
  4. Thank you. I owe it all to the iphone. You bring up a very good point. I think my lack of live fire practice contributes to firing at distant targets on a cadence, rather than a good 2nd sight picture. Maybe I'm trying to tune the gun to my cadence, rather than learn the cadence of the gun, lol. I took another look into the thumb rest and the shape of the PT EVO grip. I had the thumb rest mounted pretty far back, on account of my hands being on the smaller side. But I noticed that this also pushed the palm of my support hand back on the grip. Enough that it prevented the palm of my strong hand from fully contacting the back of the grip. So, the PT EVO grip's recessed beavertail created a gap between it and my strong hand. I believe this could have had a large effect on the rocking motion I was experiencing with the metal grip. I have moved the thumbrest one hole forward. This allowed me to move my support hand more forward, lock my wrist down, and get better contact with my strong hand. I do still have the plastic grip on the gun. Both dry fire and live feel better with the thumbrest forward. I plan to put the PT EVO grip back on and do some more tests.
  5. So, you just finished shooting a stage. You unload and show clear, RO calls range is clear. RO calls out your time and shows you the timer. The RO scores your targets and you review the entered time and tallied hits on the pad. Now is your chance to call out any discrepancies. If you think the recorded time is incorrect, you can still look at the timer. Now what if this was a multiple string stage. You shoot the first string. Once complete, the RO calls the time and shows you the timer. Let's say the timer reads 9.50s. You shoot the second string. You finish, RO calls range is clear. RO calls your time and shows you the timer reading 10.65s. RO scores your targets and you go to review the pad. You see the recorded time for your first string is 19.50s. You argue that your first string's time is not correct. The RO claims he can't remember your first string's time and the scorekeeper says "I only record what I see on the timer." Is there anything that can be done to prevent this situation?
  6. I appreciate all the feedback guys. Bob, I hear what your saying about the high hits. I was thinking something similar but I was on the fence. I wasn't sure if I was actually firing the 2nd shot after the muzzle has dipped down and then gone up too far. A couple things to note: 1- I did these trials across two days. Day 1 with the steel grip ,and day 2 with the plastic grip. An argument could be made that i didn't grip the gun consistently between the days. 2- I do not have the best grip or trigger control by any means. My goal for these videos was to pull the trigger as fast as I could. Not sure trigger slap has any effect on these tests. 3- I understand that muzzle flip and recoil are not everything when it comes to best performance. But I was only trying to find the right combination of recoil spring/grip that would yield the least bounce after firing a shot. All that being said, I found that shots fired with the plastic grip, with all of the recoil springs, to be much less bouncy after recoil. I didn't need to wait to watch the video to realize this. It was very apparent while shooting. For me I couldn't tell much difference between 14, 12.5 and 11lb springs. A theory I have is the added weight of the grip is just more mass to settle down after recoil. Sure, it has more inertia and takes more force to move. But, once it gets moving it takes more to get it to stop. I like the suggestion to remove the thumb rest. If I get some time I will perform these tests again with it removed. Again, thank you guys for the feedback.
  7. Late last year, I put a PT EVO grip on my Millennium Custom 2011. I had been primarily shooting SNS 200gr's with WST. This year I started shooting SNS 180gr's with n320. I started noticing the faster I was shooting, the higher my follow up shots were on targets. And If I was engaging a few targets that were relatively close, the last targets I engaged had high hits on target. This happened enough that I started to suspect I needed to make a change to my setup. So I did trials with different recoil springs with the steel grip, and then again with the plastic grip. All shots are with the same load and with the same 2011. I did trials with 16, 15, 14, 12.5, 11 and 10lb springs with the steel grip, and then again with the plastic grip. I did some slow fire and then rapid fire. This video is a summary of my results. Video Link The results are surprising and I thought others would be interested to see them.
  8. Simple question: In Single Stack, can you have Shielded Ambi Safeties given the gun fits in the box and makes weight?
  9. A co-worker recommended it. I started watching and couldn't stop. Binged through all of it! Great show!
  10. Thank you! This is exactly what I was looking for.
  11. I have heard people say that a stage may not have strong hand and weak hand required in the same string. Something about shooting strong or weak hand is suppose to be simulating a disabled hand, so you can’t regain the use of the hand during the string. (Clearing jams not included of course) I looked in the rule book and it seems you can have both strong and weak hand but there has to be freestyle and movement in between. Im just looking for clarification on this.
  12. Yes. Procedurals for extra shots must be applied immediately after "Range is Clear" and Time is given, before scoring of the targets. So if the RO counted an extra shot fired, the procedural should be applied for each extra shot fired. Once they proceed to score the targets, the RO should apply a procedural for each extra hit on paper. The reason I said "Assuming scoring is best 7 per paper" is because if it was best 8 per paper he would not get another procedural for extra hit. It would simply be 6A's, 1C, and 1D.
  13. I apologize. I did find another thread where people recommended sanding the tip of the decapper to remove burrs. I will try that.
  14. Every few pieces of brass, I have one that still has the spent primer in the brass when it gets to station 2 to get the new primer. Usually, I can feel that the spent primer is being reseated by the new primer in station 2. So it seems like the spent primer is almost all the way out, or at least partially out after station 1. The decapping rod in station 1 is not broken or damaged, and the rod is so long that I know it's pushing the spent primer out of the brass every time. So the only conclusion I can come up with is that the spent primer gets pushed out, but it sticks to the decapping rod and then gets partially seating back into the brass on the down stroke. Has anyone else experienced this and maybe have a solution?
  15. Assuming scoring is best 7 per paper, he would have 6A, 1C, 1 procedural for extra hit on paper.
  16. Shana Noe Scarberry Admin · October 23 Well folks, mark your calendars! April 20-21, 2018 the Pistol Division at Bluegrass Sportsmen's League will host the 9th annual Battle in the Bluegrass. This "big little match" is Production & Single Stack only. If that's not your usual cup of bourbon, I promise it's worth the temporary switch to come out and play! Registration will go live in January, date TBD. Other info to be posted as becomes available, and I'm already researching rituals for good weather... If you have a sponsor who may be interested in donating, please message myself or Jeremy Kifer with contact info. Looking forward to seeing everyone! This is the latest on Facebook.
  17. Here's the flyer I got when I bought the gun. I have never seen anything else like this one.
  18. Here is an STI 2011 that was modified with an ACCU-Block. The front part of the slide is actually fixed to the frame. Link to test fire video
  19. Is this going to be a separate match from Single Stack Nationals?
  20. Shot this last night. Single Stack Minor 15A 1C Time: 7.11s HF:11.1111 Az Shooters says 97.97% This should be the classifier that bumps me to M.
  21. 2017 BITB Single Stack did count as a classifier. I have it shown on my page.
