I spoke with someone at Brazos and they said the DVC wasn't all that and the edge they offer is just as good. Do you agree? I am wanting to get a DVC but wanted to know if it is as good as I hear. Brazos did tell me that even if I buy it from them I have to send it back to STI for repairs.

Having a trigger pull that light hasn't been a problem? It seems 1lb2oz is awful light. Ever have any AD when you draw and prep the trigger as you aim toward the target?

I thought I practiced a lot until I viewed this training regimen. Wow. Can't wait to start doing this.

I will have to just call them. The only 1911 option for STI is a 1911 Duty One and it even says it is not available for the 578 GLS.

You should make a YouTube vid on this as it would be VERY popular and is needed. As popular as the sti's are there aren't very many holster options, especially retention holsters. I have several STI's and should be getting my 6" from Hayes soon. So I need several holsters pretty quick. I was told the 6390 for the Springfield Operator would work and it won't at all.

It wasn't the 578 it was the 6395. Some else said that would work but it didn't.

So what gun model do you pick? There isn't an option for an STI for the 578 GLS?

I ordered the holster from safari land and couldn't make it work. Basically safariland says they have no holster with retention to fit an Sti. I ordered a G-Code but still looking for a holster with retention. I will double check the model your mentioned.

Thanks. I was just wondering and didn't know enough to even intellegently discuss it with him. He said we could it from the "alternate" location but if the barrel moved it would be a procedural. Just seemed odd to me but I also know the RO's have a tough job and do it on a volunteer basis so I can't complain too much.

Don't really know. Wasn't 3 gun nation rules. Seemed like some basic 3 gun rules but don't know if there was an official set of rules. Probably just local club rules.

So, I was at local 3 gun comp this past weekend, basically a club match. There was one stage that was majority shotgun. You had to hit a popper that activated a sliding target. They set it up so the shooters had to move to one particular shooting location in order to hit the popper. He popper was beside a plastic barrel meant to obscure the popper, forcing shooters to shoot from the prescribed shooting spot. However, from one particular location a portion of the popper, and I mean only a slight portion of the popper, was sticking up above the plastic barrel. By shooting from this location it would have saved a lot of time and put you in a better position to hit the moving target. We asked the stage RO if we could shoot the popper from the more advantageous location. He acted slightly shocked and initially said yes but then said if we shoot the barrel and made it move at all he would call a procedural. My question is this... Can he arbitrarily make it a procedural because the barrel moves? It wasn't stated in the stage description that it couldn't be hit. It's almost like he got offended because we came up with a smart way to hit the popper. Just wanted to know your thoughts and more importantly the rules around this. Thank you in advance.

That would be great cause right they say they don't have one for the STI. I just find that hard to believe.

No it wasn't a serpa. The finger release was on the inside of the holster closest to your hip. From my research it was a safariland but I can't find the right model. I don't need a holster with retention but I think it would give me much more peace of mind when running around. I don't move as fast as a could because I am always worried about my gun coming out.

They were kydex, not a race holster. I will look at your suggestions.

I am looking for a holster that has a thumb release or a finger release for a STI 2011 5" full dust cover. I was shooting with several people today and one had a holster with thumb release and one had finger release on the under side of the pistol. I didn't get a chance to ask them the brand. It doesn't need to be that exact configuration but need something with good retention as I shoot a lot of 3 gun. Any suggestion would greatly appreciated.

No, it happens with factor load ammo. All different kinds. I can get the mags in with brute force but I see other shooters insert mags with what appears to be relative ease. Just wanted to know if I can tweak some things to make it easier. I don't have junk rifles. All JP's and Daniel Defense.

They came from Dawson precision I think. Both tuned mags lock back with one round left in mag.

I have several AR's - JP's, Daniel defense, black rain, etc. and when I insert my magazines with bolt forward I have a difficult time getting the mag to seat and stay in the mag well. This happens even when I don't have the magazines topped off, i.e. I will only have 28 rounds in a 30 round magazine. This happens with any mag I use whether it is a p-mag, metal style ( Blackhawk), etc. Any advice to correct this would be appreciated. Thank you in advance.

When I shoot my STI 5" 9mm pistol I get slide lock but this happens when there is still one bullet left in the magazine. It also locks after the last round is fired, as it should. It does this with two STI tuned magazines. Again, with both mags the slide locks back when there is one round left in the mag. Any idea why and what I can do to correct the issue? Thanks in advance.

Thanks for all the input. Didn't realize there was so much to it. I will do a lot a reading and get with a gunsmith buddy to teach me a few things. Sounds like I could mess some things up if I am not careful.

I have several 2011 pistols and want to lighten the trigger pull. Several are approx 3.5 lb pull and I want around a 2.5 lb pull. I don't mind tinkering with the pistol myself. Any idea where I can go for instruction?

Wow, a lot of responses. I have been running factory loads. Many different types, winchester white box, Remington,UMC, etc. It has been doing it with all ammo. I think from what has been stated above I will adjust the extractor tension and try that, if that doesn't work I will order a new extractor. I will report back. Thanks for all the knfo.
