  1. I will be sending in my application today. Also a check to the campground to reserve a spot for the motorhome. Very much looking forward to this one.
  2. The "pyro" in me has always wanted to try a WWII flame thrower. The "bridge" sounds like it might make a good target. I have never shot on it yet, so I can not offer an educated opinion.
  3. Hits: Benny Hill 6" Fat Free and his Rolling Thunder comp for the rifle. ACOG TA-11. AR Gold Trigger. Dillon SDB press. Anything Nordic Components. DPMS rifles. Mark Otto chest rig with PMT carriers. Eberlestock "Gunslinger" back pack. Bladetech DOH. Misses: Glock 34 (just doesn't fit me). Speed pouches for magazines (for 3-gun I need more security). Three point slings.
  4. I have a comment for you - "Stay away from Tac Ops Division". You look like you are having a good time. Great photo's as usual.
  5. At a smaller local 3-gun match yesterday. Five stages with four stages shot already, doing well for me being the type of shooter that I am. Last stage is a 28 rd. shotgun hoser stage, basically shoot-reload-shoot from one position. Since there were a lot of new shooters at this match and in my squad, I decided that this would be good time to show everyone how badly a stage can get screwed up when you load a shell in the shotgun tube BACKWARDS. Yep, it can be done, and it does tend to make things go bad for a while. Judging from the laughter of the other shooters, it will be a lesson well learned. Just what I had intended.
  6. That is something I would pick off of the prize table, a wild hog hunt.
  7. Being number 233 on the waiting list, when I read "To everyone on the waiting list, I am sorry", just about gave me a heart attack.
  8. Camping spot and rental car already reserved. I am going through the motor home now to make sure everything is ready. Can't wait. As an added note: Does anyone know how to get in touch with Vance Schmit? Just wanted to let him know that when I packed up to leave the range at FN Midwest 3-gun shoot I found a metal rod that I believe belongs to him, I think it is used to pull down the awning for his motorhome. I will have it with at the RM3G.
  9. SRM will seal the gas piston by replacing the spring inside with an aluminum sleeve. They then install the "surecycle" recoil spring system that allows the use of light loads up to the heaviest loads. I never had one of the gas pistons break but I have heard of another shooter that has had several. I do know that the new piston will allow for the use of very light trap loads and low recoil buck and slug with great reliability. If it were me, I would save a little money and time by seeing if SRM Performance will sell just the sealed gas piston and the surecycle recoil spring setup. The other work they do to the shotgun looks to have already been done on yours.
  10. Hi Denise and JJ, I had heard that you may be re-thinking some of the rules. One being the cinched mag - both mags level at the bottom thing. I normally run my mags that way, and since your match will be the next one I will be attending, just need to know if I need to make some changes and practice that way, or if the new rule has been dropped. For me, it is all good either way. I would attend your match no matter what. Camping spot already reserved at the Whittington Center.
  11. I have the gill brake on a Sabre Defense upper that I was lucky enough to win at BRM3G (excellent match that Sabre Defense was a sponsor of - THANKS!). Great shooting rifle, the brake does tend to send blast back into the glasses and makes the hat brim move.
  12. No e-mail this morning. Sucks! I was on the trigger at 9:30:00, my wife was on a second computer (and she is faster on the trigger than me!), and a friend was also signing up. We all got the error message, then was able to get through later. Too late I guess. to those that got in.
  13. 79 users reading this topic. Must be a record. I did get to the second page, hoping for the best.
  14. Bullseye Shooting Range in North Branch Prince Gun Shop North of Milaca 320-983-3006. Very nice selection and good people to deal with. Cabela's in Rogers, big selection.
  15. 21" or 24" M2, add an extention and you are good to go. Forget the "Tactical" version w/pistol grip, been there - done that - sucks. (does look good though) I also still have to say the FN SLP is a good gun. The one I have has given me enough problems that it will have to sit in the corner until it can learn to behave. Most of the other FN's I have seen used have worked very well.
  16. You said Winchester 7 1/2 shot, need a little more information. 1 1/8 oz of shot or 1 oz.? 3 Dram or lower? How many fps is the load going (it should say on the box). Your shotgun should have two pistons, the black bottom one is for 1 1/2 oz. and heavier load, the red one is for under 1 1/2 oz. loads. Your choice of shell might not be powerful enough for those pistons. How many rounds through the gun? Rather than cutting the recoil spring, I would order the Browning Gold Sprorting Clays piston from Brownell's. Then you would be set for anything just by changing the piston. This piston is for under 1 1/8 oz loads. I would always try to use 3 Dram, 1 1/8 oz loads at 1250 - 1300 fps., or heavier. At least until the weapon is well broken in.
  17. Would the range have a small out of the way area to park a smaller motor home? I don't need water or electric.
  18. If you are shooting at the Del-Tone-Luth range tomorrow, you shouldn't have much to worry about. Just shoot some of the heavier trap loads that are 2 3/4" 3 Dram 1 1/8 oz loads, preferably the Remington Gold hull shells that run at 1300 ft/sec and you should be good. I used an old 1100 w/20" Cylinder Barrel for over a year and never had a problems at that range. Most of the steel will be between 12 - 20 yrds. See you in the morning.
  19. I know my FN is not indicative of the brand by any means. I will be sending it back to FN to have the lift gate looked at, I think the problem is in that area. The jam I have with this weapon (doesn't happen with my Winchester Practical) is the bolt will go forward before the lifter has raised the shell far enough to chamber. You will click the trigger on an empty chamber and will be forced to rack the bolt to charge the weapon. When I look down into the loading port (with the weapon upside down) the lift gate sits crooked inside the loading area and one side of the lift gate actually rubs and binds against part of the bolt release. This isn't the case in the Winchester, the lift gate is straight in the loading port and has not binding taking place. I used my Winchester Practical at the Blue Ridge Mountain 3-gun and couldn't be happier with how it performed. But, this particular FN will be sent away and get fixed and then it will be sold. It is kind of like having a riding horse that is perfect 90% of the time, the other 10% of the time it likes to buck you off. You can either spend the time and trouble on sending it away for further training, or take the shoes off and put them on a new horse.
  20. Trapr The shotgun I was using is not indicative of the brand in question I am sure. FN SLP - I love the way it handles and shoots, just hate the jams. Switched from the 20 ga. only because the pattern was a little less forgiving than I liked. It never jammed though. The FN never jammed during practice or at the smaller local shoots using the same ammo. Only when I made it to a major shoot. I guess it needed more rounds shot before the jams would start Target1911 The dremel and files is to open the loading port so the thumb does not get ripped up. I don't touch anything that would cause malfunctions, just round the edges of the loading port. The new shotguns tend to have the edges a little sharper than I like. As far as sending it to Bennie right away, he is having a lot of trouble with his shoulder and I don't want him feeling obligated to do work just to keep customers happy. Mike RM3G is the next on the list.
