Depending on lighting & weather conditions, I swap the lenses on my Oakley's from the Prism TR45, TR22, or Black Iridium polarized. The Prism 22 & 45 make everything VERY clear and when you take them off, natural or indoor lighting seems very harsh.

I have access to the M frame Alpha and use the Prism Jade Iridium most of the time and the Prizm Snow Black Iridium in extreme bright conditions  (they are  on a modified TR22 base lens ).. Use the TR22  & TR45 in overcast conditions and I have switched to the TR45 for indoor matches over a clear lens..

They all help with the red dot and target to background contrast, Cant stand to use a non Prism lens for anything now.

I currently run with an offset, I keep it with the same zero as my primary.  I wouldn't run a match with out it, if there are more than 2 targets that you are hard leaning for there is a good chance that being in the gun will be faster with transitions and better hits then counting on a laser, especially if the targets are at any distance. I don't see how a larger window would assist in hard lean situations. Also there will be a time that a laser and an offset won't help and you will need to be able to transfer to the week side so I would recommend being proficient in that as well. Like said above though every shooter and stages are different so try it all out if you can and see what works for you.

    I currently run a UH-1 as a primary ,  Romeo 4M as an offset and a CMR-206 laser @ 12 o'clock.

    UH-1 BZO = 23/100 yards ( max of 1.98" high @ 65 yrds) ( bottom Delta in recital is POA/POI @ 5-7 yards, POI is 1" below the Delta @ 3 yards or less )

    Romeo 4M BZO= 7  yards ( bottom of the outer ring 4 o'clock in recital is POA/POI @ 3 yards) (top of the outer ring 10 o'clock in recital is POA/POI @ 15 yards)

CMR-206 BZO= 3yards or less ( 1" high @ 7-10 yards not much visibility in bright sun past that )

I personally like the larger window of the UH-1 and find I can lean farther with it than a smaller window and as I continue to lean the transition in to the Romeo 4M is seamless.. I tend to use the laser on Drive by close/ awkward targets (  in windows and tight to the wall, laydowns  behind props...) and have used it on a 1st target from the belt on several occasions.. but get the most use out of it @ indoor matches. .. a week side transition is still a thing but having all 3 sights has lessened the situations that it is required to be used

I did. I was told mags only have a 1 year warranty.

If they know it had an extended basepad, they might not warranty it.  I know glock told me "No Coverage" when the bottom of my mag "tabs" broke.

When I broke one the same way:

    1. SIG never asked how old it was

    2. They called me back and recommended the TTI extanded pad after the already issued the RMA

So for me I have some standard rules in dealing with giant companys like SIG:

    1. Don't volunteer any info above what they ask for

    2. Keep all your stock parts for anything you  change

    3. Buy things that  could be a high risk from someone  like Brownells with a 100% no hassle guarantee .. SIG has no choice but to replace it to brownells that's the deal to be In with them..additionally 100%sure Lancer will have to replace to SIG any broken mags SIG warranty's out

I don't  plan to drop mags with extended pads on purpose now..I keep 2 /34 rounders and 2/ 24 rounders around with shortened spring guides and flat Speinger Precision aluminium  pads for classifers or any other sitauation  I know I am dropping a mag..

What ammo are you shooting ?

What's the sysptom caused that forces you to run the restricted plug?

Speer 115 or 124 gr TMJ or hand loads that are equal in velocity per bullet weight... your stated goal is to have a MPX that runs your production and AR9 load..

    My goal is:

    •  have my MPX's run the same cycle time as an open pistol or an AR so that I don't have different timing
    • Have minimal movement in the sight
    • Have a 19"  drop @ in the 150 -180  yard range we shoot dedicated PCC matches that place targets out that far

Ya... I don't really follow how a comp would affect blowback gasses... would be marginal if any impact

     an MPX is NOT blowback...

on my 2 MPX's ..to see maximum effect I have needed to play around with:

    • load and / or factory ammo choice
    • Gas port size ( gen 2 guns seem to be out their with either 0.0520" or 0.0625" so far no idea yet on the "competition"  )
    • Gas plug size

The MBX  comp can build  back presser ( resulting in over gased at the piston)  with the right loads or reduce port presser with other loads ( resulting in under  gased at the piston )  all depending on powder burn rate + peak presser due to the 13.2" of dwell time in the barrel  .. lots of room to play... but I only have 35,000 rounds on my 2 MPX's

I have hearing aids from VA. No noise suppression

So have you asked for a noise suppression set?  I would state my case to the VA for the need of  noise suppression... might get a set , might only have to cover the price delta out of pocket...

Wow!  I'm retired military doubt if i could make that happen with TriCare. I ordered the Walker Razor neck worn. I really didn't want to mess with the frequent battery changes on the buds.

You didn't have  your hearing loss rated by the VA? Pretty standard for almost everyone  retiring so that they

Will cover the hearing aids when you need them...

  8. I don’t believe there are any changes that are not backwards and forwards compatible with the existing Gen 2 guns:

    ·        No name change ( i.e. Gen 3, Virtus, ect..)

    ·        Looking at the pictures the upper is the same length to the hand guard separation point

    ·        The hand guard exhibits no additional attachment hardware added

For me I really don’t care for the hand guard there are some things that just wouldn’t work for me:

    ·        Don’t care for the taper on the 6 o’clock surface getting wider and angled down toward the muzzle

    ·        Don’t care for the little section of 1913 rail on the 12 o’clock left all the way forward. it’s too far forward for a laser for me and I would never put Iron sights on this platform ( for me that is the only thing this could be used for)

I am neutral on the barrel 16”:

+ Lets you play with different comps without pinning and welding

    -        Additional swept bore and dwell time past the 13.7” of the old barrels. This will help people that ran higher presser ammo (NATO, Speer LE TMJ, European spec) or reloaded with medium -slower powders ( N340 , 3N37, Silhouette, ect..). Going to really hurt the people that run lower presser ammo ( SAMI spec, AE, WWB, anything aluminum cased, ect..)  or reloaded with fast powders

    -        Old barrels were 13.7” with pinned and welded FH for 16.25” . New barrel is 16” + 1.75” to 2”  ( a MBX is even lounger adding 2.5") comp so getting close to 18”. I don’t know about the rest of the ranges but our local MD’s have started putting down tight to the walls shooting areas ( 18”-24”) that force a PCC to break the gun totally out of your shoulder  to maneuver inside of so an extra 1.75”-2” is a critical thing

  9. I don't think sig tracks in line continuous process improvement by serial #...when we start playing with:

    • Gas pot size
    • Gas plug flow
    • Muzzle comps
    • Barrel length
    • Recoil  spring rates
    • Bullet weight
    • Powder burn rate

We have steped in to having a position driven open gun with a stock attached...lots of variables that effect each other.. changing one can yeald a gun that has intermitant stoppages that can be hard to diagnose ... if you get it right you git  super flat , soft shooting and minamal dot movement ... just like setting up an open gun to maximise your shooting it is EXTREAMLEY subjective from shooter to shooter not a+b=c

  10. MBX  on my 2 MPX's ..to see maximum effect you need to play around with:

    • Your load and / or factory ammo choice
    • Gas port size ( gen 2 guns seem to be out their with either 0.0520" or 0.0625" so far no idea yet on the "competition"  )
    • Gas plug size

The MBX  can build some back presser with the right loads or reduce port presser with other loads.. lots of room to play.

I agree on the 16" barrel. Why would you want an even LONGER OAL just so you could "choose your own comp" Seems like you'd want to cut it down and have it P&W'd anyways. I could see the benefit to a 3-gunner in the PCC class who wants more velocity and can load to take advantage of it, but for USPSA.... meh. IMO it was a move to speed up/cut costs on the production line. No more pinning and welding to deal with.

Also, the new HG is pretty nice AND it's not another $200-ish you have to spend like you do for the Lancer

From what I can see, it looks like the new HG won't be backwards compatible anyways, as the new upper receiver is supposed to have a longer rail section up top.

I don't currently have any velocity problems in the 13.7" my go to loads are 115gr JHP over either VV N340 or 3N37 @ 1410fps that matches the Speer 115gr TMJ @ 1410fps that is my go to factory loading... used 13.7" for 2 AZ state matches so far with farthest shots @165-187 yrds.

I would estimate the 16" barrel would put those loads above 1500fps ...

  12. Buddy of mine has one from the link posted above on the way... Interested to see it but I am unsure on some of the changes:

    • 16" barrel + comp = not convinced on this I am happy with the 13.7" + The MBX comp on my current 2
    • New hand-guard = not convinced on this I am happy with the lancer Carbon fiber on my current 2

  13. I have been using a holographic optic (UH-1 or EoTec) as a primary that gives me some additional room to slide the reticle in to a corner on some of the hard leans:

    ·       Center dot zeroed @ 100 and 22 yards

    ·       CQB  part of the reticle gives me a hold point for 7 yards and 10 yards

    ·       CMR-206 @ 12 o’clock ( zeroed @ 3yrds)

But I have been seeing some hard leans that are beyond what I can do with the primary and placed farther out than what a FDA approved (i.e. eye safe) laser is visible in the bright AZ sun. That has led me to consider adding an offset like I run on my AR’s.

  14. My original 2016 gun with 25,000 rounds started with erratic ejection and extraction issues but only under match conditions ... couldn't replicate the stoppage's on the range.. Traced it to a loose ejector  + keep your extractor clean and replace the spring and buffer if it is week..

  15. Built the back 2 in 1997-8( ? ) intended to be dedicated 3 Gun pistols in comparing 6 open guns across 4 shooters:

    IMM ( 3port Hybird + Ti comp)

    5.4" with Arredondo comp

    TrueBore

    5.4"  Hybird with 3 Ports + 9port EGW comp

5.4" with Smoking Hole 4 port comp

all agreed this was the flattest and easiest to dot track configuration.. made them my primary haven't shot anything else in the last 10 years that would change my mind... That DVC is a compromise #3 backup as you cant get the tribrid barrels.

  16. I have the CMR-206 mounted @ 12 O'clock, I have used it:

    • several times on hard left leans
    •  on a 4 target laydown array ( sucked the stock up over the top of my shoulder) a traditional sight picture would have been problematic with the bore offset and hardcover + No- Shoot placement with this array)
    • several times on tight to the wall through a window targets
    • I had one where I was able to stay back out of a window and shoot the first target from the stock on belt start with the laser and eliminate a position entry and exit
    • several times on 3 yard or closer tight head shots ( only upper A and above exposed) as a secondary POI reference through my primary sight
    • a window driveby, never stopped for a sight picture just picked up the green on target and let 2 go

I value my eyesight I will only use US manufactured laser that comply with safety levels, so that limits it to 1-7 yrd in bright direct sunlight, overcast or inside conditions stretch that considerably.

  17. That's a extremely complex question with complex answers if your really interested :

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Laser_safety

If you notice the Ebay lasers linked in this thread exhibit the qualities of a Class 4 despite the labeling  :

" Class 4 the highest and most dangerous class of laser, including all lasers that exceed the Class 3B AEL. By definition, a class 4 laser can burn the skin, or cause devastating and permanent eye damage as a result of direct, diffuse or indirect beam viewing. These lasers may ignite combustible materials, and thus may represent a fire risk. These hazards may also apply to indirect or non-specular reflections of the beam, even from apparently matte surfaces – meaning that great care must be taken to control the beam path"

Interesting info!  It's pretty clear why the government limits to 5mw.  One of the concerns is a receiver mounted laser hitting folks' hands/thumbs for prolonged periods of time when we're not paying attention.  This video shows the dangers of that with a higher than 5mw unit.

When I was Active Duty one of my collaterals was Adninstrative Laser Safety Officer (ALSO) that was probably  the hardest school I ever attended in my 22 years, but  I learned a lot. I personally would be vary concerned with being on the range with a green laser over 100  mW as their are definitely splash back issues off of  even semi reflective surfaces ( Steel targets, stands, racks , props....) and have removed myself from the bay while squaded with one of theas "eBay" lasers while it was activated.  I know for a fact laser safety lenses are not cheap or something you would chose to shoot in over a traditional lens.
