  1. What brand dies, and what brand cases? Do you sort by headstamp? Do you lube your 9mm first? By chance, did you buy your 650 in 9mm from the get go or do you load rifle at all? It's reversible depending on which you load. I recall watching a video that reversed the two, and I had feeding issues... Also with everything Dillon factory (lots of people sells aftermarket parts related to that shellplate indexing), if I recall, there was a tight margin on the center bolt for the shellplate and set screw between too tight such that it no longer indexes smooth, to being too loose.
  2. Ditto. Definitely won't work. Getting these with a Dillon is a bit of a moot point. The top of an LnL press is specifically machined to take these. And basically 4/5 LnL bushings is equivalent to a single Dillon toolhead. They are popular with SINGLE STAGE presses. Those are really common to be designed with 1 1/4-12 bored into the frame, with a 7/18-14 adapter. Hornady sells the mated end that's 1 1/4-12 threaded to fit these SS presses, in which case you just remove the original adapter and replace it with the Hornady bushing adapter.
  3. So I have a bunch of credits from Amazon for using slow ship with my Prime. So I have over $20 (like $25 ish) in promotions for Kindle books, probably about 2 of them. Anyone have suggestions on training related titles?
  4. Ditto on the sugar free electrolyte drinks. I cook up my concoction with crystal light packs, table salt and nosalt. It costs next to nothing to make and I laugh when i see how much Gatorade and Powerade cost. Interestingly it's almost like I can drink half a gallon of it, and not need to go (you know what I mean). A liter of perspiration on average, contains 900mg of sodium, and 200mg of potassium. So you lose a lot of electrolytes. imo, the common store bought drinks don't contain enough electrolytes. I don't feel sugar in drinks is a good idea at all. You aren't burning calories like crazy and going through your glucose stores, like say running, biking or any other strenuous aerobic activity. Avoid caffeine, it's a diuretic so it will cause you to go more often and that's the last thing you want. Just like alcohol. So yeah, avoid that too If I don't drink like this on a hot day, half way through I'll usually come down with a headache. Water alone is often not enough for me either. I disagree on protein consumption. The order in which your body turns these three into energy is: carbohydrates, fat and finally protein. Protein consumption during strenuous activity really will do nothing and may be worse than just eating something with carbs, short of junk sugar. The consumption of protein is beneficial AFTER some form of muscle building activity. Muscle building actually causes micro tears in the muscle filaments and to compensate, your body builds up muscle mass afterwards which of course requires protein. Protein during is also pointless, imo vs. anything else you'd consume.
  5. I have to echo on the humility aspect. Getting better and being better than everyone else are two very different mentalities. The latter will be destructive, imo. Me on the other hand am new and perhaps I have low expecations. But I like to focus on comparing how I did vs. last time. Oh and it's always nice to see how many men I beat, since it's such a male dominated sport
  6. I also own the Vortex Razor red dot. I also like it. Just make sure every screw is tight and don't assume it is. I didn't and thought it was odd that the red dot would shake on my AR-15, even when dry firing it. I thought it might have been defective. Shortly thereafter, the mount got very loose and quickly I realized what was going on.
  7. What is she using the shotgun for? Clays? 3-gun? If it's steel targets, I wonder if 20 gauge would be enough. They are fine for clays though... For the VM, the LOP is already quite long in the stock configuration. Adding extra pads might make it worse, and the LOP might be too long for her. Ditch the idea of shooting full power slugs. Get some Fiocchi low recoil slugs. Those have I think have less recoil than my 2 3/4 Dr eq bird loads. Also which loads is she shooting for bird shot?
  8. I remember the first time I got the thumb pinch practicing loading. You don't notice it sucks until you try to jam more one at a time (i.e. load 2, quad load). Then you swear and curse. Hopefully this happens when you're not on the clock. You won't get the VM dirty enough where it jams after just 2 boxes so that wasn't it. I've gotten mine dirty enough to the point where I had to pound the pistons out a bit. That still wasn't dirty enough to cause problems. I wonder if you had a bad round (like a messed up rim) Otherwise, perhaps check that spring. 13" length beyond the tube is definitely on the short end. Is there a reason why you bought that spring instead of just using the regular spring that came with the tac? You have to remember how the trigger works on the VM (which I'm almost certain is also just like the M2): The cartridge only releases from the tube onto the carrier if you press the release manually, or the trigger. But I'm guessing you already figured that out, afterwards. As for a welded carrier though, you might have feeding issues like I did with the shell hanging up on the extractor notch cut into the barrel. I've heard this being a problem with a few VMs now thus far.
  9. I think longer barrels matter more in clay sports like skeet and trap more so. It's the chokes that make the difference. On my VM, a 28" barrel is still shorter than a 12 round tube.
  10. Can't the Beretta and VM run somewhat lighter loads due to the gas action? I've had some people tell me their M2 and M3000s had issues with 2 3/4 DRAM loads so they stick with at least 3. For left handed Shotguns, I think VM comes in one and the bolt release is on the left side.
  11. Even the VM Competition lifter still has a slight notch in it. When I got my carrier welded it did the same thing. I had someone bevel the notch. Hoping that helps.
  12. You mean like: http://mgmtargets.com/gravity-moving/whirly-gig-sup-reg-sup or http://xsteeltargets.com/products/texas-star I did watch the video after I typed this. It's not your regular Texas star. That thing is EVIL
  13. I could see someone asking this about trimming and dealing with NATO style and other crimped primers in rifle brass, but seriously forgoing cleaning pistol brass because you won't find it again? Just get a tumbler. A lot of tumblers even come with media. You throw it in the tumbler, turn it on and let it sit and walk away for a while. It's like the easiest part of reloading. Are you actually reloading now, or just shooting factory and thinking about it? Dirty brass can scratch reloading dies.
  14. Vortex Razor red dot. 1.4oz. It also uses CR2032 batteries. Way more common to find if your's is dead...
  15. I had a feeling this would be the case. I noticed the slop too, before I even bothered installing it. They assured me this wouldn't impact accuracy. Sounds like they were wrong. I sent it back a little over a week ago.
  16. The intent is for any of these powders to ultimately be used for .223 w/ 68 gr (possibly heavier, but not likely) and for .308 in 168gr or higher (again though mostly 168). How does Reloder 15, Varget, and Norma 203B compare in the Dillon 650 powder measure for consistency? Anyone have any personal firsthand experience on these powders for metering consistency??
  17. My local range owner is a whiz at trap. I think he said he misses like maybe one, 2 tops every 25, for trap and I can't remember for skeet. So take his word for it. In general, 1 1/8" ounch #8 is the happy medium for both if you can pick only a single load. I went with 1 oz #7.5 but then switched to #8 to 1 1/8 oz. Now it could just be me, but my scores went from 25/50 to 40/50 (on a good day about 37-39 otherwise). He did mention 7.5# can work better on trap on a windy day since the wind affects the large shot less. It was exciting since I went between from like 18-20 to nearly 40 in about 4 months this summer, and I definitey don't have an optimal trap shotgun As for skeet, I have been told ideally to go with 9...if you can find it. Don't forget to pattern your shotgun on paper with various chokes, at typical distances that you will likely be shooting. This might vary between the brand as well. That was his other advice. Top gun patterns well for me (2 3/4 dram eq). I suspect Gun club is similar, but for the longest time I could find Federal TG for cheaper.
  18. I already have a welded carrier on its way back to me. Should be here tomorrow...
  19. I have both small and large rifle plates. I'm pretty sure that in order for it to work, the case has to be shorter than the gaps in-between the notches, and they also must be smaller in diameter of the distance between of the notch and the casefeed bowl. i actually tried it. Do you not have it all set up? The casefeeder jams with .308 cases with the small rifle plate (I only threw in about 10 of them). It simply won't work.
  20. I come from a skiing background. At a certain pace, you are in control, and its second nature like chac mentioned. Once you exceed your comfort level/speed you lose control, and bad habits come creeping back and that muscle memory is toast. I've seen people lose control slow quickly in an instant, that they have a massive yard sale and injure themselves and get hauled out. Ironically, I consider skiing to be far more dangerous...
  21. How many rounds you got through it so far? That's my only question, before I throw something in
  22. I ordered the carrier based on suggestion by someone else that gave the opposite info. Just giving more insight into why it's not compatible....
