  1. Any issue with just making the safety heads round - thus avoiding any binding/clocking issues?
  2. I would be interested in a double-headed safety as well.
  3. I don't believe it can. I'm a left as well.
  4. I'm thinking about giving the green Champion 5" fiber-optic shotgun sight a try on my M3000. That orange fiber optic stock sight looks enormous to me, and shooting orange clays with an orange sight - seems like the green would be better for contrast. But from the description it basically glues on - how I don't know - and that doesn't sound like a very good idea. Does it work? Anyone have experience with these?
  5. My friend had a JM Pro and it was MUCH LESS reliable than my girlfriend's SPX. The SPX isn't 100%, either, on three-gun loads (birdshot) but with the "tactical" loads it's really intended for (buckshot) it runs perfectly.
  6. I've often thought about shooting more interesting guns just for the hell of it. I have a broomhandle C96 Mauser with a detachable buttstock (exempt from SBR regulation). I've always thought it would be fun to run that as both a rifle AND a pistol.
  7. Some matches may require you to shoot once for every target, even if you break two with one shot. The G3G shoots I go to require this, and thus make it a moot point.
  8. I'd like to shorten my stock down and put a buttpad with a rounded top on to make it quicker to shoulder and less likely to snag on my shirt. I'm thinking of either the Kick-eez "Rocker" or "Sporting Clays". Looks like I could just cut down the stock, maybe drill the screw holes deeper, and then mount and grind the new pad. Not sure I want to try and take that on, though, I don't have a stationary belt sander.
  9. Finally got to shoot mine this morning. Shot perfectly with Win Universals (1 1/8oz @ 1200, 3dr), Federal pink shells (1 1/8 @ 1200, 3dr), Federal paper shells (1 1/8 @ 1200, 3dr), Rio target loads (1 1/8 @ 1150, 2.75dr), Estate (1 1/8 @ 1200, 3dr), and Estate hunting loads (1 1/4 @ 1330, 3.75dr). All functioned perfectly in the bone stock gun. Also shot 5 Remington low recoil slugs which did fine as well. The gun does kick quite a bit compared to the 930 but reliablity is worth it.
  10. My belt came in yesterday I'm glad I went with the 20. The 20 is perfect across my midsection when centered. I note that some people throw their shotgun up on their shoulder to load-2 while others tuck it under their arm, upside down. The shoulder seems difficult to me, but under the arm seems fairly natural and you don't have to touch the potentially very hot barrel. Anyway, with the "under the arm" load-2 technique, The belt needs to be off-center in order to clear the stock and the distant shells are cumbersome to grab but I think I can master it with more practice!
  11. $480 street price for a 28" M3000 plus an $80 tube beats that any day.
  12. Just cleaned mine all out, lubed, and reassembled. It's really hard to get that charging handle out! Anyone else think the shell stop is maybe a little stiff? It's more difficult to get shells into than my previous shotguns.
  13. I boiled all my Yugo SKS internals and used brake cleaner on the barreled action. Worked great.
  14. Picking my M3000 up tonight. Will put it through it's paces this weekend (hopefully) and if it runs, off to MOA I go for extension, etc...
  15. Wow...that is pretty cool. Good looking, too.
  16. The mild steel core stuff deforms steel less than the heavier lead core loads. 5.45 is academically less than .22" but break out the micrometer and the bullet passes. Yes, actual bullet diameter is .221". They probably won't let you shoot it because it's either steel jacket OR steel jacket with a steel core.
  17. It will be my primary. One thing I had in mind was unscrewing a couple of the clips, however, and screwing a traditional stripper-style caddy on in their place. I just shoot regional matches, strictly for fun right now, but almost every match has an all shotgun stage where you really need at least 30 shells. That's assuming you get the ever-present MGM spinner to go with a reasonable shot count. So I'd really be fine with a 28 shell rig plus the 9 (division capacity) in the gun. I can always put one of my eight shell strippers on my belt for those stages, though. I guess the 20 shell is the way for me to go. Thanks all!
  18. I will definitely get the smaller band, but he makes both 20 and 28 shell models in the smaller belt size. If anyone who has one these doesn't mind the hassle, would you mind giving me the center-to-center distance between the shells? That way I can determine how far around each size will reach.
  19. I'm a fairly small guy with a 32" waistline. I'm looking at ordering one of the Chameleon "Load-Two" belts and would like to know if the 28-shell will likely be too long for me (putting the end shells behind my arms). Small guy: 20 shell or 28?
  20. That looks good. I think I'm going to try and do mine on a Bridgeport but I'm not quite sure yet.
  21. That's basically what I'm shooting for. You're a brave man to put all that money and work into a gun you hadn't shot yet! I think I'll be waiting before I lay down the cash for the various parts. Did you do the port opening yourself? Glad it runs well. Anything that cycles Winchester Universal should be reliable enough to meet anyone's standard! Also, I shoot long guns left handed. Would the extended safety be of any benefit for me?
  22. Well that is just damned impressive! I'd really be worried about length! Maybe I shouldn't be. I really didn't want to go over the 24" mark, that's already quite a bit longer than my girlfriend's 930 SPX I'm used to shooting! I will stick with the 26" barrel for now. Maybe get the MXT coupler and another +2 tube. That way I can run 10+1 or 12+1 but then again that's mo' money mo' money mo' money...
  23. An that ends up being roughly equivalent to a 32" barrel, no?
