  1. Hello! I am a reloader novice, and have some questions. My gun is a Colt Goldcup .45ACP. I have loaded some rounds using Remington brass, 4,9gr Bullseye powder, remington large pistol primers (2 1/2), and Rainier 185gr FMJ flat point bullets. I have not tried this ammo yet, but in a local forum here in Norway I have been told that these loads are potencial dangerous. I can not understand this, because my Hornady reloading manual says that a simular bullet can be loaded with 5,4gr Bullseye powder.

Because of the warnings I have got, I have now loaded some rounds with 4,7gr with the same type of powder, bullets and primers. I guess I will start off with these, and then move on. But, do anyone have opinions regarding my first loads?

It's always a good policy to start low and work up incrementally but that said, your load seems to me very reasonable (and moderate) for a 185 grain plated bullet. There's a ton of people loading 4.8/4.9 grains of Bullseye under 230 grain Rainier RN in .45 ACP.

starting low and working up while using a chrono is the safety way of developing any load, better safe than sorry on the shooting range

  2. I've never much cared what he said, she said, it's like rumors in the work place, If I find a product that I like, THAT is what I use, when I was doing security work in Memphis years ago I always carried a ruger security six (yes I still have it), back then all there was in auto was a 1911 colt or springfield, both good guns but at that time I prefered the 357 mag., the point is if you like the xd then over look anyone else's bad mouthing, could be because they were beated in comp. by a xd, some people are pretty shallow. On my part I have two xd's the 45 and one of the new xdm's in 40, I feed them both factory and reload ammo and they eat it all  , I'm sure the mp is a fine wepon but it's also the latest, hence the hipe. Keep your xd's

  3. saw a interesting item in a gun shop the other day, a rock island double stack, but no magazines and the owner of the shop had no knowledge of which magazine would fit, I have pars for my para and springfields would they also fit the rock island (45 acp) thanks

  4. I've got two, both non-loaded military, one remained 45, added bo-mar rear site and dawson nose cap, wilson beavertail, kart barrel it will use the springfield or para magazines with dawon base pads and get 16 or 17 in magazine (can remember getting old) every now and then had ftf issue but was bad ammo, ajusted that and it rain fine. Other on had rebuilt in 40 by local gunsmith and never did run right :angry2: , put them away 3 yrs ago when remodling home and health became first priorty, but that's all done now, hoping to restart next year, bottom line if you have a GOOD gunsmith slightly modifiy your springfield hc and strighting your magazines and good ammo, it will run like a striped ape

  5. I am very happly employed and have not been downsized YET!, when to gun auction yesterday and got a great deal on a new XDM (no mags) and a mini-30 with two magazines. Estate auctions for guns are better, someones private collections that their family does not want or will never use, bought a great looking browning auto-5 about 3 months ago, normally seems like fall is when the most auctions are, if you can afford to go you can find some great deals there, depending on what you want

  6. Shotgun News and Gun digest hold my insterest the most, and what ever is in walmart and the grocery store, but the last couple years when the Handgunner has put out their gun catalog of the coming year, you have to take it with a grain of salt, they will list guns that ARE NOT going to be for sale because the manufacture is not makeing them, like the S.A. 40S&W in 1911 format that they have had listed for years, that S.A. still has not made, except for a very short run about 5 years ago :angry2: , although they could make major bucks if they would put it in high-cap 1911.

  7. the only reload I do is 45 and just starting on 40, the S&B seem to work on the 45 and haven't come across any in the 40 yet, I toss all amerc and military brass, the amerc in just totall crap and the military is too much of a hassel
