  1. Combine that with the new, "you can sweep your leg" ruling on a seated draw and the newly approved "shoot your penis off" holster position and I'm starting to think about what type of liability could be made to attach to SO's and CSO's in event of an accident. There could be some huge lawsuits by the survivors and no one is going to cover your legal fees.
  2. Try http://www.jandlgunsmithing.com/ (757) 567-5993 Jim Jones works all the Tanfo's around here (and there are a lot of them in this area). I know that EAA used to use him for some of their work (they may still, I don't know). He also works them for some very high level and well known USPSA shooters. You can also reach him through their Facebook page.
  3. The 22 TCM I used to have, used 38 super mags for both 22 TCM and 9mm.
  4. Not exactly the same, but I have a P-Match. I bought it as a backup to a Limited Pro and ended up using it as my primary. One of the few guns I've had that never failed me.
  5. It is an odd shape. Contact J&L Gunsmithing on Facebook or call (757) 567-5993. He has a deal with a company that makes them. I got my Pmatch and holster from him. By the way, my Limited Pro fits that holster, but the Pmatch doesn't fit the Lim Pro Bladetech holster.
  6. Jim Jones at J&L Gunsmithing. I bought the holster and the gun from him. (757) 567-5993. You can also reach him through his Facebook page.
  7. I thought an accidental discharge was a DQ in USPSA? I've seen people flip and catch and stick their hand in front of the muzzle to catch it. I've seen new people muzzle themselves doing a "press-check" of a short barrel firearm and I've seen the turn over into the hand method of catching their round. I'm not risking either my hand or the match to either look cool or save 10 cents (assuming I can't find the round). Sadly, some SO's are looking for stuff to DQ you on and will call stuff you came close to, but didn't do. Then again, I'm risk adverse.
  8. A little late now, but next time, you might want to consider using adapter plates, sort of like those used on the Glock MOS series. They would be a lot cheaper than welding it up every time you want to try a new optic and far less risky.
  9. I mailed out 49 lbs to them on 5/21. Their site says they weren't accepting anything postmarked after 5/22, but I haven't heard a word from them yet.
  10. Lost my Lim Pro front sight in a match. Had to shoot two stages without it. MIne is lock-tighted in now, with the permanent (I think red?) locktite. It ain't going anywhere again without a torch.
  11. That's what I meant by issuing a warning (nothing official)...tell them they were close. I usually pull them aside after they are scored.
  12. If the RO is absolutely sure of what he saw, then no argument. I've seen a lot of RO's make that call from weird angles, where there is no way they can be sure. If I'm not sure, I will issue a warning. Loaded or unloaded doesn't enter into the decision for me though.
  13. Amazing coincidence, since I was replacing mine yesterday morning. I bent the extra curve out with pliers. It was a little bit of a pain in the butt, but I think it should work OK.
  14. Also, try Jim Jones at J&L Gunsmithing. If anyone can find one, he (or his wife) can. EAA stuff is his specialty and he also has foreign contacts for them. (757) 567-5993.
  15. Go to Amazon.com and order a couple of different strength full lens reader safety glasses. I think I have Elvex or something like that. They are only about $12 a pair and you can try them before you spend the money to have glasses made. I have been using the cheap ones for a couple of years now.
  16. I shoot a Limited Pro, so no Barney mag necessary...but no, I don't drop a round in and let the extractor get pushed out by the round. The broken surface just looked like cyclic metal fatigue with a brittle fracture at failure. The grain structure looked like a MIM part. I saw no evidence of plastic deformation. I didn't see the missing piece though. That's probably in the grass somewhere.
  17. This is a really timely question for me, since my extractor broke during the Boone match (missed half of the match). Of course, my overconfidence in my Tanfo led me to not taking a viable back up pistol...my fault I know. Anyway, the surface looks like a fatigue induced brittle failure, which would suggest they have a certain number of cycles. I'm going to carry an extra from now on...and a backup gun. In the middle of the match, I think that a backup gun may be a better option. You may not have time to fix much more than the extractor, slide lever or slide spring anyway.
  18. It didn't look to be a mechanical issue, but if you feel it's dragging, IMO, it's most likely the grip panels, rather than the frame.
  19. Try J & L Gunsmithing (757) 567-5993. He told me he had one left in stock a few weeks back. If you can't find one and don't mind doing ESP (single action only), look at the Elite Match, for a few hundred dollars less and no trigger work usually required. Make sure it's one that has a weight within the limit though or some milling will be involved. Some of them were about 1 oz out.
  20. Couldn't fit it by trimming the baseplate...but.... For those of you that bought a SA mod 2, 4" for CCP, I confirmed last weekend that it will fit in the box, though very snugly, with a CZ-75 metal base-pad on the magazine. They are available here for about $3 each. http://gregcotellc.com/cart/cz-factory-mecgar-magazines-c-173/
  21. "I". may answer your question. 8.2.1.3 SSP Excluded Modifications (Non-Inclusive list): A. Externally visible modifications other than those listed in the Permitted Modifications section. B. Aftermarket or visibly modified magazine releases, slide stops, safety levers, de-cocking levers, and hammers. C. Robar-style grip reduction. D. Add-on magazine well opening. E. Slide inserts to accommodate a different recoil assembly design. F. A barrel that uses a different cartridge that is not offered in the original factory model. G. Customization of the slide by adding front cocking serrations, tri-top, carry melts, and high power cuts. H. Compensated/ported firearms with non-compensated/ported barrels installed. I. Checkering or stippling on non-readily replaceable parts of the grip frame. J. Aftermarket slides. K. Removing material from the magazine well opening. L. Aftermarket grip tang extensions or beavertails. M. Disabling the slide stop.
  22. I'm not up on my founders intent lore but from my understanding, grip tape is allowed because it isn't a permanent modification. I'm assuming they were trying to exclude custom gun-smithing from SSP, and grip tape is something that anyone can do (and many do) to their standard firearm. Stippling is permanent. I'm assuming that it must be significantly better than grip tape or so many people wouldn't be pushing so hard for it. They would just use the tape.
  23. I hate to agree with IDPA, I have to this time. It's a shame they had to DQ that young shooter, but he got bad advice. It is what any other manufacturer would consider a frame. It was modified to give the shooter an advantage over un-stippled frames and it's nothing but using semantics to get past a rule's intent. That intent was to create a level playing field in that class...and If it didn't provide an advantage, then why stipple it in the first place. I could make a pistol and call what others would consider a barrel, the "thing a bullet goes through" and not a barrel. I guess if I do that from the manufacturer, I could have a "bull thing the bullet goes through" because it isn't a barrel?
  24. A lot of us bought new guns for CCP and a lot became extinct with the new rule book. My SA Mod 2 4" is now too tall, by about 1/8". I think I can stuff it in the box with CZ-75 metal basepads, but I have to wait for our club to get the new inserts to try it. I'm certainly not risking a Sanctioned match with it right now. If it doesn't fit with the new basepads, I'll be selling this one. I'm certainly not buying any new guns for any new classes in IDPA from now on. I guess I can sell the upgraded trigger separately...maybe?
