Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. I did several searches trying to find a thread on the topic, but really didnt find what I was looking for. So here goes- I am fairly new to the sport- almost two years in. I shoot local matches and have recently shot my first level two match. I feel like my club could benefit from having a few more RO's to help run squads. I pitch in grunt work, but thats about as much as I can do. I want to do more, and would like to become an RO but want to make sure I'm ready. I'm honest, fair, detail oriented and efficient. There are shooters that are on par with me skill-wise that are RO's but I'm not sure thats a good guage. At what point did you become an RO, and what made you decide that you were ready to run a squad? What questions should I be asking myself in terms of "am I ready"?
  2. "You do drugs, Danny?" -Ty Webb Sorry, couldn't help myself. I'll go back to the kids table now.
  3. Welcome! Come shoot IDPA at Elm Fork or USPSA and 3 gun at ETTS! Dallas Action Pistol shooters or N. Texas Multigun is where its at!
  4. Will do! I did use the search function, but didn't see the sub-forum. Thanks for the tip!
  5. First Major match for me as well! I'm hooked, will def be back next year. Thanks to the great guys from Squad 14, and congrats to all the winners, but especially to Bob and Kale who were in my squad. I learned alot from you guys. An even bigger THANK YOU to the Match Director, Range Master and all the RO's for their hard work pulling this off. Can't wait for next year!
  6. I installed the Taran Tactical Limited Base Pads and Magazine Springs on my M&P40L pro series. I have a couple questions/concerns I'd like to ask the forum: 1. Did you use your stock springs or the ones provided by TT with the basepads? 2. Is it normal to have extra resistance when loading the 16th round and a "break over" feeling? 3. Having an issue with one mag where the round is diving down instead of up. Randomized the round to rule out ammunition related issue. It's def a mag issue. Anyone had anything similar? Fixes? Have only shot one match using these basepads and springs, I feel like they shouldn't be malfunctioning already. Otherwise, when they are working fine, I like them alot.
  7. New member from Dallas here. I'm a transplant from Michigan. Background in competitive skeet and sporting clays, wanted to try something new and different. I had shot some indoor IPSC matches back in Michigan, but never a field course. Joined DAPS after moving to Dallas. I have shot a couple IDPA matches and a couple USPSA matches so far and really enjoying it. Went and shot the DTC this past weekend- it was awesome! Was a little disappointed in my own performance, but I was squadded with some awesome shooters- both the Limited and Production winners were in my squad. I learned alot from watching them burn through the stages (and probably pushed myself beyond my abilities as a result). Really opened my eyes to fundamentals I need to work on. Either way, I'm hooked! Was wondering if there are any other clubs near Dallas that have more frequent club matches? DAPS is only once a month, and would like to shoot a little more frequently than that.
  8. Yep, mine does it too- Apex Comp AEK, SSS ESP magwell. It was not doing it consistently when i got the gun, but now that it's been run in with a 1000+ rds, it does it every time. I don't mind it at all, its just my hope that it continues to do it consistently.
