deuc224 replied to bunt's topic in Dillon Precision Reloading Equipment

Dillon Rapid Trimmer Setup Problems
deuc224 replied to Cropper's topic in Dillon Precision Reloading Equipment
yes, but it dont matter since the size/trim die will size the neck down tight and then you have the mandrel die to set neck tension. Most of the guys that do brass prep like this on the 1050's either A.)dont subsequently load on the 1050, they will single stage load OR B.) they dont run a swage backup/expander on their loading tool head. Or if you are really concerned you can turn down the backup/expander rod just slightly so it doesnt. Chuck it up in a drill and use some sand paper. Easy to turn down. Ok, i see what your sying. I was thinking of getting a spare toolhead and doing the brass prep(decap, swage , size/trim) on that one and them switching to a different toolhead and doing the loading.- 16 replies

Hey guys, im ready to start loading other calibers now and was wondering how time consuming/challenging is it to switch primer sizes? I know a lot of guys on here have 2 machines set up so they dont have to deal with this but i would rather use the money for conversion kits and auto drive and bullet feeder instead. So is it worth it to get? Or is ir really just a much easier thing to get another machine and leave it set up for large? Thanks in advance. Oh this is for recreational use, not commercial.

I immediatly regret buying a 1050
deuc224 replied to darkmod's topic in Dillon Precision Reloading Equipment
I immediately regret NOT buying my 1050 earlier. Seriously if you think it should have come from the factory ready to roll, you should have known better sir. The dvd is very lame but very very handy( dillon really needs to update it). Like someone said earlier, i watched it 3 times before i even set up my press. -
Got it. Thanks for the clarification

So the final answer is yes you can trim 223 brass with the rt-1500 on a 1050 without modified toolhead? Just wanting to know because im ready to order it for a dedicated toolhead.

Installed my UniqueTec Powder Bar Mics today

Can someone do a step by step of the installation? Min is sitting here screaming at me to install. Can the micrometer be coming loose due to not sanding or filing the hole and still have Teflon? -
Dillon and SHOT Show - RT 1500 Trimmer
deuc224 replied to The Law's topic in Dillon Precision Reloading Equipment
A 1500 or a 1200? If all you are going to do is trim 223(as in trim a couple thousandths), the RT1500 is WAY WAY WAY WAY WAY overkill. The RT1200 will trim 100's of thousands of .223 cases and give you years of life. No need for the RT1500. I have an RT1500 and I still have 2 RT1200's on .223 and .308 prep tool heads. I dont plan to change them out either. Yeah i was wanting a 1500 -

1050 bearings, main shaft movement
deuc224 replied to seanc's topic in Dillon Precision Reloading Equipment
Just checked mine for ya. It has only resized about 400 pieces of 223 brass and has a tiny bit less movement than yours so im guessing its normal. -
auto drive 1050, experiences wanted
deuc224 replied to ano's topic in Dillon Precision Reloading Equipment
Thanks jmorris, i cant remember who said that. But it almost put me off of one. Im barely setting up my 1050 and will load a few thousand rounds thru it before i end up buying a PW. -
auto drive 1050, experiences wanted
deuc224 replied to ano's topic in Dillon Precision Reloading Equipment
Just a question for those with auto drives, do you need to readjust you dies when changing toolheads? Example like from 9mm to 223 or from 223 to a 223 prepping toolhead? Thanks and sorry to hi jack. -
auto drive 1050, experiences wanted
deuc224 replied to ano's topic in Dillon Precision Reloading Equipment
I met a fellow who had 6 1050s all on autodrives. Told me the problem was people werent setting them up properly and that one machine he had was up to 250k rounds thru it without a problem. He was using the PW. -

Buying a new 1050 setup...
deuc224 replied to Cundiff5535's topic in Dillon Precision Reloading Equipment
Thanks DWFAN, i got my 1050 set up i 223 right now but when i get a 9mm conversion kit, ill probably use the seat/crimp die to keep the powder check just for pistol rounds. Rifle im not too worried about. Appreciate the reply -

Would probably add a rf-100 if youre gonna be reloading that much. -
650 or 1050 with Mr. Bullet Feeder
deuc224 replied to rjacobs's topic in Dillon Precision Reloading Equipment
I want the forcht so bad but can justify cutting my press to make it happen. The PW can always go back to its original state. Talked to a guy who had a few( i think 5) PW set ups and he told me the reason people keep breaking linkages is because they are adjusting the PW to the press instead of the dies to the PW. -
RF-100 Is it worth it?
deuc224 replied to slinginlead's topic in Dillon Precision Reloading Equipment
I bought one but its still boxed, along with my press -
1st post but long time lurker, i was in the same spot as the op and just said to hell with it and got the 1050. the majority of what im gonna load is 223 and 9mm, so for my needs it maybe overkill but hey you only live once and time is so precious.
