Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. Les, I had a Browning Gold Stalker modified by Briley. They cut the barrel to 22", and installed their VERY thin-walled choke tubes. It's well done, but I'm not sure what that mod alone would cost. They did the Cooley package for me, which also included the extended mag tube among other things. Email me if I can be of any help. -Deke
  2. Yeah. Junior kicks butt. He is an incredible player on that gizmo that he plays. i haven't heard any new stuff, but I've liked his music since I heard him do "Highway Patrol". -deke
  3. EvilPJ, For once I might actually have a ggod answer. I just had mu Browning Gold set up by Briley. It turned out very nicely. However, I had/have the same problem: 9 in th etube instead of 8. So, I called Briley and talked to Claudio in the tech section (he handles this stuff). he said that their mag tubes are of a generic length, and in some guns this length will let you load 9. He said that if it were shorter, it could cause the spring to bind. His solution for me (and I'm still waiting), is to make a longer, hollow follower. The spring can go in it, but I can only load 8. Sounds like a good idea to me. Let me know if I can be of any other help. -deke
  4. Thanks for the info. I know what I need to do now. -deke
  5. Okay guys, I'm sure this has happened to some of you... I'm trying to take the stock flash hider off of my Colt HBAR, but it is stuck on there in a big way. I want to put on my new Miculek comp. Should I heat it up with a torch? I hate to clamp the barrel in a vise. All suggestions are appreciated. -deke
  6. Kellyn That was a most splendiferous use of the word "cuckold." We should use it in the forums more often. -deke
  7. Scott, I just had the opportunity to function fire my new Browning Gold since it came back from Briley. We didn't shoot it much, but it ran perfectly with Walmart Federal loads and PMC slugs. I'm looking forward to really giving it a wrokout soon. -deke
  8. Now THAT was funny. -deke
  9. An elderly man and woman, tired of their boring life at the retirement home, decide to meet at noon the next day in the janitor’s closet to have sex. As they are undressing, the woman says, “Before we start, I should tell you that I have a heart condition.” The old man, who is hard of hearing, says, “What?” “I have ACUTE ANGINA,” says the old lady. “I sure hope so,” says the old man, “because those are the ugliest boobs I’ve ever seen!” Mea culpa, -deke

Coarse, scatological vulgarity? I just thought it was someone's arse. -deke

Try this. It is pretty cool. http://home.mn.rr.com/t1camp1/Focus.swf -deke
  12. Qstick, By all means, go with the Springfield in 45ACP. I don't think you'll regret it. In my experience, the 40S&W can/does cycle a bit faster than the 45ACP, but there is much more to it than a fast cycling gun. A well-tuned 1911 in 45ACP can be an exceptionally reliable gun, and the cartridge can also be a bit more forgiving to reload. With this gun, you will be reasonably competitive in Limited 10. What's more, even if you decide to later move to a full-blown limited gun by S_I, you'll probably still want to keep the Springfield. And regarding follow-up shots, there is little difference, especially for a new shooter. The 45ACP/1911 is a great format for developing your gun-handling skills. Good luck shooting. -deke
  13. I'm not sure why you don't want a Choate, but I have one and I don't have any problems fitting 10 + 1 in my 1187. Brownell's carries the Choate. I have also seen them on Gunbroker and Ebay. You might also try Speed Shooters International. They carry a good selection. -deke

    Dalai Lama

So...the Dalai Lama is visiting New York City, and decides that he would like some lunch. He sees a street corner hotdog vendor, and walks up to him. The vendor says, "What would you like today, your Holiness?" The Dalai Lama replies, "Make me one with everything." (Get it?) After paying the vendor, the Dalai Lama asks the vendor for his change, to which the vendor replied, "But your Holiness, you know that change must come from within." (Okay, I'm done now.) -deke
  15. For what it's worth... I have been shooting my remington 1187 for years now, and have been pretty happy with it. It runs well if I keep it clean. However, I recently decided to get another shotgun, and decided to get a Browning Gold Stalker and have it worked over by Briley. Well I got the shotgun back today. They had it for about five weeks. I haven't had a chance to shoot it yet, as I am in the middle of the Pittsburgh blizzard, but man, is it COOL! (No pun intended.) I got the "Cooley" conversion package on it, and it is about as slick as a shotgun can get. I can see why all the things they do are recommended. For example, I had second thoughts about a shortened stock, as I am not a small person. But when I shouldered the gun today, I wondered why all my stocks aren't like this. It was perfect! I won't ramble on about the particulars (email me if you actually want to hear the details), but I can only hope that it shoots as good as it looks. I will try to post a pic soon. -Deke (Edited by deke at 6:43 pm on Feb. 18, 2003)
