Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. Come on guys... Predator. Nothing beats two future governors fighting an invisible alien big game hunter. And Jesse Ventura humping a MINI-GUN through the jungle. priceless. best line= " If it bleeds we can kill it"- The Governator
  2. You called that one right. Looks like the XD project is on hold until they figure out how to heat treat parts without making them as brittle as dry twigs. Now how do I do trigger job on a Berretta ....??????
  3. Well I'm 6'6" and around 320 so he looks about normal to me.
  4. I took my XD9 service to the same guy my friend used to fix his yesterday. It had a broken extractor and a broken cocking indicator. When he removed the roll pin that goes through the top of the slide the damn thing came out in 2 PIECES!! Now try and find a tapered roll pin probably only made in some shack in Croatia, at your local industial supply. This sucks.
  5. Thanks 3/4. I am looking foward to shootjng about every weekend when the weather turns. Till then myself and a friend are going to start shooting over in Dayton. There is the league at Miamisburg on monday nights and B.Seevers emailed me letting me know they shoot at a place called Sim-Tac on Tuesday nights. If anybody wants to go over and shoot with us drop me an e-mail. We are going to shoot Monday this week. I look foward to meeting all the local forum members. This forum is a great resource for info and opinions from good people in our sport. I met Rhino at the last Atlanta match in Dec. Very nice guy.
  6. Sandoz, I looked real hard at the USP 9, but I couldn't seem to get my clumsy hands to work the mag release reliably. I never thought it would be so difficult to find a production gun I like. Looked at most of them. Sig 226- Strong contender but sits a little high, DA sucks. CZ75-Feels perfect ,sits low in the hand but, DA and SA really sucks Glock 34- Would be perfect BUT no beavertails allowed and RO's don't like blood splatter. (I know this from experience) Beretta 92FS-I own one and DA sucks but shoots so much softer than 4" XD XD 9-Feels great, beveled mag well stock, decent sights after a little paint, trigger I can live with but seem to be as reliable as CBS's sources. I know all this could be fixed with the proper gunsmith, but dammit that would just be too easy.
  7. After all this mess...broken extractor on Service 9 ....runaround on Tactical..I think I am going to see how long THIS extractor works and how long my friends Tactical runs before I pick up what could unfortunately turn into another turd. Shot a league match with a Berreta 92 last week ...cause the XD was broke..wasn't so bad. The DA sucked but I guess if all else fails I could get used to it. By the way the whole reason I am shooting production is the fact that I don't want to have to worry about finnicky guns or loading ammo or having to send guns back and forth to a smith/factory to get them to run. More time for dry fire. I hope this XD thing works out ..if it does I'll pick up a Tactical when they finally show up local. If not I guess I'll have to start paying real close attention to that Langdon guy. BTW the reason I don't shoot a Glock is that I have to have a beavertail on one to keep from getting sliced up by the slide.
  8. I hate the fact that I can find every flavor of XD on earth but the one I want. I have called every shop in the Indianapolis area . Calls all go like this: Me: Hi, do you guys have a Springfield XD9 Tactical Guy:Hold on let me look.......Yep got one left. Me: Is it the 5 inch barrel...looks like a longslide? Guy: Yep Me:Your sure its a 9 and not a .40? Guy: Hold on........Nope sorry its a .40 Me:Thanks Rinse and repeat x 7 As a matter of fact the only one I have actually ever seen is the one my shooting partner found before me at last months gunshow. Distributers don't have them. I called Springfield 3 times before a nice woman took pity on me and leveled with me. "There's not very many Tactical 9's out there....as a mattter of fact we haven't shipped any since this summer." So naturally my reply is "Do you know when some more will be in?"...(waiting with fingers crossed)..."No." So there you have it the Unobtainable $450 gun.....And if I see one more display case filled with once fired Glocks I am going to puke.
  9. The match was at the Miamisburg Sportsmans Club just south of Dayton. A great bunch of guys and a cool club. When they found out it was my friends first match they even gave him back his entry fee!
  10. I am coming back to shooting USPSA after about a five year lay-off ( moved for job no clubs local). I live in Indiana and have been relegated to shooting at an indoor range. This range will let you do draws and reloads if your a known quanitity. I met a guy who was drawing his glock 17 from a fobus holster . We started talking and he said he wanted to start shooting competition. Music to my ears. He wasn't kidding, we have been shooting 500- 700 rounds a week for the last month and a half. In that time he is now shooting a Xd 9 Tactical out of a Bladetech and picked up active ears, belt and shooting bag. We have been doing basic drills and exercices..draws and reloads..bill drills..dot drills..shooting groups. I found a club in Ohio that shoots a Monday night league and told him we should go. He was concerned he wasn't ready but I convinced him otherwise. So off we went. The match was an indoor affair that was very basic and straight forward..perfect for his first one. He shot the stages accurately and safely and had an absolute BLAST!! He actually let out a whoop when he was finished! All he talked about on the 1.5 hour ride home was how much he enjoyed the shooting, the rush from the moving and shooting and most important ..say it with me..the PEOPLE. He couldn't believe that peolpe were actually loading his mags for him between strings ( 3 24 round strings back to back). Needless to say he is firmly hooked .
  11. Go to xd-hs2000.com for factory parts. Web site claims parts in stock. Extractors ,springs , guide rod assembly. Looks like everything you need. I have no experience with this site, but its out there.
  12. For parts go to xd-hs2000.com and pistolgear .com My friend bought a Bladetech dropped and offset holster from pistolgear and was happy with the service. xd-hs2000.com has factory parts ...extractors..ejectors..springs..guiderods..etc.
  13. I called Springfield last Friday to see if they would send me a new extractor instead of me sending in the gun. I spoke to a woman named Brandy who was very helpful and told me it could take 7- 10 days. I recieved my extractor this morning via FED-EX. The friend I mentioned in my first post took his X9 Tactical to his gunsmith and he pulled the extractor and removed a small amount of metal on the inside bearing surfrace of the extractor to allow the hook to reach deeper into the breech face. So far he has 400 rounds through it malfunction free. I really hope this problem gets worked out. The XD is a great gun for Production. I compared El prez and bill drill times with it and a UM holster to my times 5 years ago as an A class limited shooter with a hot set up SVI .40 and race gear. No real difference. Just goes to show its the Indian not the arrow. Thanks to everyone on the forum for their help. This a great place.
  14. The bottom half of the extractor hook cracked off. I can't tell for sure but I think the part is MIM or "powderd metal" not EDM'ed.
  15. I have recently gotten back into shooting after a 5 year lay off, and am planning on shooting Production. After looking at the suitable pistols I setteled on the XD. I now have about 5000 rnds through an XD9 Sevice in the the last 2 months. Ilike the gun but it has a nasty habit of failing to extract after about 150 rounds.Sometimes it will run up to 500 before puking. Finally last week the bottom half of the extractor broke off. I called Spingfield and they have a new one on the way. A new shooter I have been working with bought an XD9 Tactical that he really likes and had a 1000 rounds through trouble free. Last week he started having the same problem. I have looked on the Xd forum and called Springfield and am no closer to an answer as to why this is happening....Poor design...bad tension...hook needs to tuned????? The factory is reaming the chamber and "adjusting" the extractor. People still have problems. So I came here. Any suggestions will be much appreciated.
