  1. Grip swap was fairly easy. Snug fit, but not overly tight to where material needed to be removed. EGW leaf spring required some more tuning than normal compared to other grip swaps I’ve done. Hammer follow with the stock set out of the bag, but very easy to adjust. One large issue I ran into was the optic screws supplied from Holosun & LFA did not fit. Ordered some longer screws off amazon… only to find out the mounting holes on the slide were cut to different depths. I had to manually cut these screws which is a real pain. Busy with family stuff this weekend so the maiden voyage will be sometime next week, but this is how she sits now.
  2. I might have to look into that. I had a 407K on hand which is why im rolling with it.
  3. Comparing it to a Giran 2311 ive felt before, this is significantly better for sure. The Prodigy is still the better buy, mostly due to the optic cut.
  4. This does have an RMSc cut, Yes. Hopefully in the future someone will create a plate to convert to a larger optic, but this was always meant to be a fun gun anyways.
  5. Picked up a LFA Apollo 11 from their presale wait list. Joined the wait list in oct of 2023 and received an email about shipment in early February 2024. The only reason I was curious was the price tag ($975). Initial plan is to do a grip swap with an MPA aluminum grip I have on hand, some polishing of internals and spring swapping. Overall this will be under $2000 into a LO build. First impressions: minor frame to slide slop in the fitment. Not too shocking considering the price. Trigger comes in just under 3.5 lbs. short reset with a little bit of take up. The stock set up has a lot unneeded pressure on the grip safety. Easily the stiffest grip safety I’ve felt from any 1911/2011.
  6. As reported by Ben Berry on IG... The trademark claim for "Hit Factor" has been abandoned.
  7. Yes, I fully agree. Thus why we reached out to HQ about this. One of many things they have dropped the ball on.
  8. I agree. There are no bylaws that I'm aware of (Or I would have called for a vote when I was MD long ago). I just can't fathom how USPSA HQ lets this person hold everything hostage. The Northern IL section was created when the Southern IL guys who used to run PASA and some other big ranges were tired of the Northern guys not helping out (Staff majors). They created their own section to then take control over more slots (They felt the Northern clubs got too much for how little they helped). At least that is the story I've been told by the old timers in my area.
  9. Here in Northern IL, no club has received nationals slots for over 5 years. The Northern IL SC coordinator doesn't respond to emails and USPSA wont allow us to replace this person. Rick Steele (A5D) has been deaf on this issue both in person and via email. As time went on, more national matches were created. This should have meant more slots being sent to clubs... yet still nothing for anyone in the Northern IL Section.
  10. Given the lack of Kzone target suppliers... the costs are a prohibitive right now (To be fair its the difference of $25-$30 per 100). Especially considering most clubs have USPSA/IPSC targets coming out of their ears. But I agree... the Kzone is the real difference maker. Next would be the difference in stage design requirements or lack there of for PSCL. Its going to take a few years (knowing there a VERY few clubs running their rule sets right now) until we see people besides Max L. design stages that really take advantage of the different ruleset and target presentation.
  11. V1 of the 124 JHP is showing as "In stock" at Shooters Connection. This will drop ship from PD. Precision Delta Bullets 9MM 124gr JHP (shootersconnectionstore.com)
  12. Not Shocking that a USA MFG makes 171.25 mags. Lame they sold them internationally as "170". Hope they at least give you a refund.
  13. The base itself it fine. We have popper faces crack, the welds holding the bar stock on crack and the bar stock itself snap in half. It sounds like they have a new design, but ive moved onto other vendors such as MGM. I use a ton of shootsteel static steel in practice as well.
  14. Well after spending 3 years of my club's funds on steel that needed to be immediately replaced again, I won't be recommending them to anyone. 3 other clubs in our direct area had the same situation. We were offered 50% of the welding fees and no replacements. He doesn't stand behind his product.
  15. Northern IL clubs have found rangemaster steel is less than ideal. We have broken more of their steel than any other vendor by a large margin. Every single popper has been rewelded multiple times due to their weld on bar stock they use to attach to the bases. Buy once cry once and go with MGM.
  16. The flex is easily one of the worst holsters ive tried. Very soft plastic deforms with a low volume # of draws. Good luck trying to fit it to a new grip after minor use.
  17. I do not, but I would just keep adding slowing until you reach the consistency of the liquid stuff you currently use.
  18. Thats true. Most use some sort of liquid chalk which is just chalk mixed with isopropyl alcohol. Very easy to make on your own if you want to. We also do have a few guys who use bulk chalk in a bag locally. Given the number of cops you will most likely shoot with... expect jokes like "Did you take that bag out of the evidence locker?" The guys who tend to win the matches have the most on their hands. Not always... but there is a strong correlation. Watching them try to clean off 10-12 layers of chalk and dirt at the end of the day is also comical.
  19. Local matches you wont see it a lot (Depending on the group/area you shoot in). But at majors it seems like 80+% of the match will be using chalk. Its very common.
  20. I only clean my mags if I'm on a very sandy/dusty range. Or right before a major. Thats it. Given im in the Midwest, im not cleaning all that much.
  21. Return to 0 is a combo of the gun, recoil spring, your load, and your grip. Any combo you can think of can have a perfect return to 0. I suggest shooting as many different set ups that you can. See what you like and then place an order with someone. Ask around at your local matches. Dudes love to show off their stuff and talk endlessly about why they built it the way they did. Take advantage of that knowledge and apply it to what you want to do. No one can tell you the best set up. This is all personal preference.
  22. Ive shot every length imaginable. Ive done a ton of R&D with builds over the last decade with Don at Venom Custom. 4.6 is the rage right now due to it being unique and different. In another 2-3 years the builds will be different again. 2011s tend to go in cycles. Right now, short and fat is in. In a few years long and light might be popular. Im currently building a 5 inch hybrid barrel LO gun with Venom. The gun will weigh close to 60 OZ empty with brass magwell, tungsten guiderod and XWF cheely frame. Im also a very big guy with bear claws for hands. The heavier gun doesnt slow down my transitions like it might for others.
  23. Tungsten sleeve barrels are a bad idea. They reduce the life of the barrel itself while also increasing the chance of a catastrophic failure. Not to mention it severely limits who will build the gun (Only 2 builders I know offering this still). Sight blocks or Hybrid barrels can accomplish the same feel for significantly less hassle/cost. 2011s mechanically cycle at .06 . Doesn't matter if you have a 3 inch slide or a 6 inch slide, You will not be able to outrun the gun. Ive got limited optics guns ranging from 56 oz Empty down to 34 OZs Empty. My grip needs to change slightly to have them track the same. Ultimately it doesn't matter. Just build what you like at the end of the day. No matter what you do, you wont get your LO gun to feel like an open gun. Im primarily an open shooter. The PF alone will never allow them to feel the same. 115 projectiles will make it feel "Snappier" but it wont even be close to 165+ PF Ammo feel.
  24. The cheaper the bullets... the larger variance you will run into. This isn't always true, but it sure does correlate. I've found blues to be the worst in weight variance, and it did not matter at all assuming you weren't going for 126 PF.
  25. Ralph was an amazing man. I was lucky enough to have shot. He will be missed by many.
