  1. The rear sight shouldn't be a problem. I have taken mine off and back on with no issue. I run the rear sight far enough forward that I can just put my optic on the rail behind the front sight. I have Holosun 510 and 512's that are tall enough to look over the rear sight. I just have to remove the extension that I made for the butt plate to switch to optics that are taller.
  2. I'm running a couple of Tactical Innovations left side charging receivers. Do not use their trigger housing, they just put Ruger BX trigger parts in it.
  3. After using a left side charging for almost 2 years now I'll not be buying anything else. It's also nice to have a little extra light around the chamber to actually see clear when someone has a weak extractor that leaves a round behind.
  4. I scrub pistol mags out with a mag cleaning brush and then use dry lube on them. I scrub them with dish washing soap and hot water. Using solvent would be pretty messy with a brush
  5. Hmmm, a 12 MOA dot is going to cover a little over 7 nickels wide at 50 yards, I think that chicken is pretty safe.
  6. I started playing around with the Wiland iron sights. Being old and blind I figured it would be a pretty good challenge. I wanted to be able to shoot with my head pretty much upright like I do with optics but with the lower sights I was having issues getting a comfortable sight picture. I lowered the butt stock tube about as low as it would go on the chassis and raised the sights up pretty high and was comfortable with the sight picture but then the butt plate was much too high on my shoulder so I fabricated an extension so I could lower the butt plate to a comfortable place on my shoulder. So far this has been giving me pretty good results but it's still a work in progress. I don't think I could make this configuration with iron sights work as well with another chassis that didn't have the option to relocate the butt stock tube extension. It looks a little strange and I always wondered why some guys had lowered their butt plate so much but now that I'm trying iron sights I understand it now.
  7. Just combining several USPSA Nationals together causes a lot of difficulty for competitors wanting to shoot both. I would give you a higher chance of success if you leave out IDPA from the mix. I'm not bashing and have been an active competitor in it and many other sports. If you think you can resolve the problems between USPSA and IDPA types, you need to be elected to congress because getting it to work would be easier.
  8. I have some of both the dark and the clear but I have went to using the TK Double Kross magazine bodies. I bought a lot of the Ruger standard 10 round magazines and took all the guts out and put them in the TK double magazines. The TK double has been more reliable than my original Rugers and they are clear to keep you from making that mistake that most of us have done. One of our local guys was having a heck of a time with his Kidd gun not running and after he switched to the TK double he finally was able to get through a match without cussing the gun. https://www.tandemkross.com/Double-Kross-1022®-Magazine-Body-for-the-Ruger®-1022®-Rotary-Magazines_p_226.html TK sells the guts for them now but I'm not comfortable buying plastic feed lips when I can have steel for the same money. Most don't realize that the primary ejector for the 10/22 is on the feed lips.
  9. The Tactical Innovations receivers come with charging handle assemblies. The charging handles are plenty strong and are made pretty much like everyone else's. The Magnum research bolts are drilled and tapped and they just bolt a knob to the side of the bolt. Also the MR bolts have an inertia type firing pin that leaves the face of the hammer and has to overcome the spring to get to the cartridge rim and can only strike the cartridge with its inertia energy. The Kidd firing pin is not reliant on inertia, it gets pounded into the cartridge keeping in contact with the hammer. I do not want an inertia type firing pin in my guns that absolutely need to go bang every time. I was able to fit a Kidd firing pin in a MR bolt but it needed a bit of fitting to get it right and eliminate that inertia type firing pin. I installed Kidd bolts in both of my Tactical Innovation receivers.
  10. I just bought the sporter reamer from Brownells and took care of everyones barrels here locally. No wait and the reamer has paid for itself.
  11. I'm using a couple of left side charging Tactical Innovation receivers with Kidd trigger groups and Kidd bolts. https://www.tacticalinc.com/catalog/category/774/606/1943 I had bought a Magnum Research receiver but wasn't happy with the quality of the bolt and it was going to be too much trouble to replace their propitiatory bolt with another so I sold the whole thing. The one I sold the receiver to said the bolt was not the quality of his other MR bolts and got them to replace the bolt so I guess the QC at MR has had problems too. Another high level shooter that we all know said that the TacSol product has been declining in quality and quit using them. I like the Tactical Innovations receiver but would not use their trigger group.
  12. I saw in Steve's post on Facebook that he cautioned about over tightening the clamp for the butt plate on the carbon fiber butt tube, it's easy to do since it is a powerful clamp. It doesn't need to be very tight, just snug it up. I took a piece of schedule 80 riser and shaved it down a little to fit inside the carbon tube. Now I can be silly and overtighten without causing any damage, it's just easier to not have to think Here is a picture of the insert..
  13. Yes, I used blue loctite on them and set them to where they didn't drag on the receiver so I could remove the receiver easily for cleaning. It would not bother me if those screws didn't exist since I'm not using them
  14. The 4 screws are meant to allow you to remove the trigger group without taking the receiver out of the chassis. The screws can be used to snug up against the pins of the receiver. I don't use the screws to remove the trigger, I always just yank the barreled receiver out and put it in a padded vice to clean, just easier for me.
  15. Yes, I use the stainless barrel. I'm also anxious to try the cheek riser
  16. The grip you copied is the one that comes with the chassis, it is a lot like the K2 grip, you will likely be happy with it.
  17. This is a shot of the top of the grip that comes with the chassis so you can see the slot that it rides in. One screw comes in from the top and the grip has a nut built in. Here are 2 shots of the adjustment range, all the way back and all the way forward. The adapter that Todd is working on to use a standard AR grip would just be a block that slides in the same slot. AR grips that have a big beaver tail would likely need to have it trimmed off some.
  18. Since many are posting their thoughts on the many different chassis systems available for the 10-22, I decided to share my initial experiences with the Wiland. This is how I have it setup presently. The chassis comes with a nice printed pistol grip but I wanted something a little different so I adapted a fat Ergo Deluxe to be pretty much zero angle. Todd is working on an adapter that will allow the use of other AR style grips but doesn't have it ready for sale yet. Being able to adjust the grip forward and back is an essential feature for me that not all chassis have. The wide range of adjustments for the butt plate is a great feature. I hate the little 90 degree plates like the ModShot. I'm just old and prefer the more traditional butt plate. Changing the angle of the butt plate has a lot to do with how the gun comes up to that critical first target. The butt tube extension comes about 2" longer than the one in my picture, I cut 2" off the original with a Dremel cut off wheel to get the shorter length of pull that I prefer. The length can still be customized by sliding the the butt attachment clamp forward and back and locking it down when you find the right spot. The one feature that from what I have seen is unique to the Wiland is the ability to adjust the location of the butt tube at the rear of the chassis. The butt tube can slide up and down the rear of the chassis on a rail and then be locked into place. Instead of messing with the height of the optic the chassis can be customized to make the gun come up and present the dot naturally. I think this will be a great feature when I setup my other gun for the Wiland fiber optic iron sights. The fiber optic sights that Todd makes look great and I'm excited to maybe be able to shoot iron once again. I'm waiting to get one of the cheek risers that Todd is making to try and see which I prefer. Once I get it I'll try it out and let the timer make any decisions about what works best. The chassis is cut out around the sides of the magazine that make using mags with no bumpers very easy. I already spent the money for bumpers so too late for me. The hand guard is very light and comfortable and with the LLW barrel it swings and stops effortlessly. The gun has a great balance. There are a lot of good options out there to choose from but the Wiland has the features that have the most appeal to me. https://wilandusa.com/
  19. I'll answer this since it looks like nobody tried this yet. TK said I can return if it didn't work out so I ordered one to see what the results would be. Because of the different shape of the trigger housing the Fireswitch won't work for a pull to release but does work if you push it forward. It rattles around a little since it doesn't contact the trigger housing, other wise it works as a standard push release. I'll be sending this back. I modified my Kidd long release by cutting off the end and reattaching it to extend out the side a little to work with my trigger finger. I'm going to cleanup the attachment of the tab out to the side and run with it since it works and looks better than the TK option. Here is the TK part.
  20. Back when I was looking for one I had 23 possible sources and the next day there were zero. You can't wait these days on anything. A lot of these places all source from the same big warehouses so what may look like a large number available can really just be a few.
  21. I have bought from Gunzonedeals many times and never disappointed
  22. Here are a couple that are in stock https://battlehawkarmory.com/product/magnum-research-sstb22g-switchbolt-22-lr-101-17 https://gunzonedeals.com/product/MR-SWITCHBOLT-22LR-17-CARBON-FIBER-TACTICAL https://lockedloaded.com/product/mag-sstb22g-switchbolt-22lr-17in-tact-blk-stock
  23. The SSTB22G comes with the Axiom stock. It's usually cheaper to buy from a wholesale house. https://www.gunsmidwest.com/mag-sstb22g-switchbolt-22lr-17in-tact-blk-stock.html
  24. Just wondering is anyone has tried the TandemKross Fireswitch mag release with a Kidd trigger group. The Kidd housing is shaped differently and may not be compatible with the TK mag release, has anyone tried this?
  25. I talked to C-More about this almost a year ago and they told me it's not as simple as just putting in a green diode. I believe they said that the glass would need to have a different coating developed for it. They said they were working on the idea but it doesn't seem to be much of a priority. I would buy one in a flash and I think it would be a good seller but then I do prefer green in sights, both fiber optic and dot optics.
