  1. I run 4 gr n320 with zeros 125 JHP on my optics pistols. Clean burning, doesn’t smoke RD lens like a lot of powders. Accurate load.
  2. .38 Super and .38 Super Comp are identical- other than Super Comp is rimless. The internal case volume is the same, as is the exterior dimension-sans the "semi rim" (.38 Super).
  3. The theoretical advantage to the "hollow base" bullet is the hollow base will more easily obturate in the barrel. This requires a certain amount of chamber pressure. My guess is you haven't achieved the required chamber pressure level. I tried some 124 Berry's 124 gr. HB FMJ's with 3.9 gr. of Tightgroup, which is a "steel" load I've used with success. This load, with PD/Zero/HAP 124 gr. JHP's shoots extremely well in a couple of my pistols. The Berry's bullets were a disappointment. At some point I may try running these bullets much hotter, with a different powder.
  4. ^^This. Throating the barrels on several of my 9 mm's of different manufacture (P-35's, CZ's, 1911's) eliminate the need for different COAL.
  5. I shot: WST VV N320 Titegroup All with 230 gr. Zero JHP and 200 gr. "Blue Bullets" at same velocity. I could tell no difference in perceived recoil between the three powders with both bullet weights. Accuracy was another story...
  6. My "accuracy load" in minor is 3.9-4 grs. of TiteGroup, CCI primer, Precision Delta 124 gr. JHP with COAL of 1.140". My "range load" is a "Blue Bullet" RN of same weight and components as above.
  7. For optimum accuracy I have the best luck with JHP's- 124 gr. in my guns. I use Precision Delta or Montana Gold. They are quite obviously more expensive than coated.
  8. Have experienced "the internal shelf" with CBC brass. A non-issue as long as you don't seat deeper than the "shelf". Seating deeper will tie up the gun; the resultant bulge- from base of the bullet seated below the shelf is a problem.
  9. 4-4.2 gr. WST should be close to 130 PF.
  10. Both powders meter well. Titegroup is cleaner than Bullseye-subjectively. I've found Titegroup capable of good accuracy with 230 gr. bullets (but prefer WST in reduced/"target loads"). Plated bullets will not be as accurate as FMJ/JHP or cast/coated lead IME. The H&G 200 gr. SWC is an old school favorite for a reason; accuracy.
  11. 4.3 gr. at 1.140" COAL gives me a 130 +- PF. This was a 1.75" @ 25 yds. load from my 1911's. Seating to 1.09" I'd start at 4 gr. and chrono,
  12. ... BHP/P-35's and a couple of CZ-75's (which I have finished reamed chambers to accept longer COAL). Ditto the Manson reamer.
  13. Are you familiar with the "drop test"? Remove barrel from slide, drop loaded rounds into chamber to verify cartridge will chamber/allow slide to go into battery. The CZ's are notorious for short leades, hence the recommendation from SISIG. The PD 124 HP has a much longer "nose" than the XTP. With PD 124 gr. JHP's I run a COAL of 1.140"+- in a couple 1911's, BHP/P-35's and a couple of CZ-75's (which I have finished reamed chambers to accept longer COAL). The only way to know for certain what COAL your pistol will chamber is to check it. Load a few (dummy) rds. of increasing OAL, drop test, then function test-by re-assembling and cycling pistol.
  14. 124 gr. PD or "Blue bullet" (round nose) with 4 gr. TG gives me 135+- PF.
  15. There's a reason that Bullseye shooters are frequently seen using this: http://www.meritcorporation.com/ I use this in all iron sight load development.
  16. Check this: http://www.handgunsmag.com/competition/making-major-hodgdon-cfe-pistol-powder/
  17. The "Blue Bullets" 200 gr. RNFP have a cannelure. I seat bullet to that depth. Function has been 100%. Never bothered measuring COAL.
  18. 124 gr. PD JHP @ 1.140" with 4 gr. TG or 4.2 gr. WST and SPP. This from both a 5" Baer and Colt GM. Both good for 130+PF. 1.5" @ 25 yds. as a rule (benched).
  19. 4.4 gr. WST and 124 gr. Blue Bullet (@ 1.150" COAL) runs 1070 fps from a 5" 1911 and a (4") BHP/P-35 runs 1040 fps.
  20. Consider acquiring a Manson finish chamber/leade reamer. They are a no brainer in use. It solves the CZ/whatever "short leade/tight chamber" issues.
  21. 3.7 gr. TG and 125 gr. "Blue Bullet" is a 130+- PF in my 5" 1911. Very little smoke; substantially less than lead bullets with lube. No problem keeping a magazine full under 2" @ 25 yds. I've shot several thousand of these as range and local match ammo.
  22. CFE is less than ideal for minor loads; it is at it's best in moderate to full power loads (similar to HS-6). Burn rate is slower than HS-6. A minor load may require a magnum primer.
